[] 1. [GB - QB Aaron Rodgers wants out or deal shortened]( Source: FanSided.com - Matt Lombardo Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers wants to be traded or have years taken off of his contract that includes three seasons at $33.5 million per year, according to an NFC personnel executive. 'He wants to get some sort of deal done,' an NFC personnel executive said. 'But, he wants years off his deal, so he can pull a Tom Brady and be the next guy to try to go elsewhere to win a championship.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This at least opens the possibility of Rodgers playing a full season for Green Bay as long as they let him get out of his contract that runs through 2023. Whether he would settle for just 2023 being shaved off, or wants out after this year is unknown, and we can't totally trust this report, but it does jive with a report earlier this week that Rodgers turned down a two-year extension/raise that would have kept him in Green Bay for the next five years as the highest paid player in the game. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [NO - WR Michael Thomas to miss start of season](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas (ankle) had surgery to repair torn ligaments in his ankle in June that will cause him to miss the start of the regular season. The surgery came with a four-month recovery. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Thomas will miss at least 4-6 games with a four month recovery, and he could be less than full speed for a game or two after his return. He is going to fall to at least the 6th/7th round of drafts. Tre'Quan Smith, Marquez Callaway (who the team likes), and Adam Trautman will pick up the slack, with the possibility of signing a veteran like Golden Tate or Danny Amendola looming. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [DAL - WR Amari Cooper should be ready for opener]( Source: The Dallas Morning News - Michael Gehlken Dallas Cowboys WR Amari Cooper (ankle) is expected to be ready for the start of the 2021 regular season. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We never thought Week 1 was in doubt before he started camp on the PUP list, so being reassured of this is still not completely reassuring. We'll feel better when Cooper is off of the PUP list and practicing without limitations. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [DAL - QB Dak Prescott a full go]( Source: ESPN.com - Todd Archer Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott (ankle) was a full participant in practice Thursday, July 22, completing 11 of his 16 passes in 11-on-11 drills. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] As long as Prescott gets through practice without incident this week, we can put his ugly 2020 season-ending injury behind us. He's worth a pick in the top five quarterbacks off of the board. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [GB - WR Davante Adams talks cease](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Green Bay Packers WR Davante Adams has ended long-term extension talks with the team, and there are no plans to resume them. The two sides were negotiating for months, and now they're in a bad place, according to sources. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Whether this is connected to the Aaron Rodgers saga is up for speculation, but it's difficult to avoid that topic when projecting this one. Adams ADP is in the second round because of the Rodgers uncertainty, and this item isn't comforting you are depending on Adams this year. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [DET - Heavy workload for D'Andre Swift?]( Source: 1 No Source Detroit Lions RB D'Andre Swift could be headed for a big workload in 2021, according to running backs coach Duce Staley. Staley said the team wants its 'three-down back' to have about 25 touches per game. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jamaal Williams will probably keep Swift getting 425 touches, which is what he would get at 25 touches in 17 games, but this is an item that points to Swift having a decisive lead in at least Staley's mind, where other items this offseason have indicated more of a committee approach, at least in offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn's mind. We'll be watching this closely in camp, as current ADP still reflects an assumption that Swift will greatly out-touch and outperform Williams. [] 7. [PIT - Kevin Dotson misses practice]( Source: ESPN - Brooke Pryor Pittsburgh Steelers OG Kevin Dotson (undisclosed) did not participate in practice Thursday, July 22, because of an undisclosed injury. Head coach Mike Tomlin said Dotson should return in a few days. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Hopefully that's all it is, as Dotson was expected to be one of the only returning starters after getting four starts in as a rookie last year. The Steelers are going to have change all of the offensive line and need Dotson to take a step forward in year two. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [MIN - Phil Rauscher to coach O-line]() Source: ESPN.com - Courtney Cronin Minnesota Vikings assistant offensive line coach Phil Rauscher on Friday, July 23, was promoted to the full-time position. He replaces offensive line coach/run game coordinator Rick Dennison who was let go, reportedly after refusing to get the COVID-19 vaccine. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Vikings have absorbed enough of the concepts of the Dennison/Kubiak running game to make this not material enough to move Dalvin Cook from the #2 spot he occupies on most fantasy football boards. This is unlikely to be the last showdown between a team and player or coach over the vaccine. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [TEN - Elijah Molden agrees to terms](=) Source: TennesseeTitans.com - Jim Wyatt Tennessee Titans third-round draft choice CB Elijah Molden agreed to terms on a four-year contract with the Titans Thursday, July 22. Financial terms were not disclosed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Molden can improve the Titans slot corner position right away and help a defense that has had a lot of trouble stopping the pass. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [GB - Amari Rodgers signs rookie contract]() Source: FOX6 - Lily Zhao Green Bay Packers WR Amari Rodgers on Friday, July 23, signed his four-year rookie contract with the team, according to a post on his Instagram page. Financial terms were unavailable. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Rodgers has a similar game to Randall Cobb, whose best years came with Aaron Rodgers. If the Packers get Rodgers to report to the team to throw to Rodgers, Rodgers could have a strong rookie year and emerge as one of the primary options in the passing game. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [DEN - Javonte Williams agrees to rookie deal]() Source: 9News.com - Mike Klis Denver Broncos RB Javonte Williams and the team on Friday, July 23, agreed to terms on his four-year rookie contract. The full terms were unavailable, but the deal does include a $3.81 signing bonus. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Williams has a chance to unseat Melvin Gordon from day one and dominate touches for a team that is going to focus on ball control and defense to win games. He is rising as high as the fourth round and probably worth it based on his higher end range of outcomes after the Broncos moved up in the second round to pick #35 to get him. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [MIN - WR Dede Westbrook to work out for Vikes](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Free agent WR Dede Westbrook (Jaguars) in in Minneapolis to work out for the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday, July 24, according to post on Westbrook's Instagram account. Westbrook reportedly has three teams interested in him but will likely sign with the Vikings if all goes well Saturday, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Vikings don't have a clear #3 receiver, which would give Westbrook about the best opportunity for playing time that he's going to find at this point in free agency. It would give his dynasty stock a pulse in deep leagues after he fizzled out in Jacksonville.
