[GB - Uncertain timetable for David Bakhtiari](#11) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 1. [DAL - PK Greg Zuerlein had back surgery]( Source: ESPN.com - Todd Archer Dallas Cowboys PK Greg Zuerlein (back) underwent offseason back surgery, the team announced Thursday, July 22, and is starting training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list. P Hunter Niswander will handle the kicking duties at camp while Zuerlein is out. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Zuerlein has been drafted as a top five kicker all offseason, but we should move him down in our ranks until he's back and practicing regularly. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [DAL - WR Amari Cooper headed to PUP list]( Source: ESPN.com - Todd Archer Dallas Cowboys WR Amari Cooper (ankle) is being placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list to open training camp, according to a source Thursday, July 22. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Cooper had ankle surgery in early January, so this is definitely something to monitor. Mike McCarthy was reassuring, saying Cooper was "in great shape" and he wasn't concerned, but until Cooper is off of the PUP list and practicing regularly, we shouldn't assume anything. CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup's values would go up, but Dak Prescott's down if Cooper has a setback. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [TEN - Big role for TE Anthony Firkser?]() Source: TennesseeTitans.com - Jim Wyatt Tennessee Titans TE Anthony Firkser is 'in line to play a much bigger role' in the offense in 2021, according to Jim Wyatt of TennesseeTitans.com. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Firkser's upside came down a bit when Julio Jones was signed because he was set to be as high as #2 in the target pecking order, but he still has the ability to be relevant in fantasy leagues as the primary receiving tight end in an offense that isn't deep at wide receiver or featuring an experienced pass-catching running back. Consider him a possible TE2 pick late in deep leagues or more likely a player to have on waiver wire speed dial if he opens hot against the Cardinals in Week 1. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [NFL - OLB Mychal Kendricks receives sentence]( Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Myles Simmons Free agent LB Mychal Kendricks (Football Team) on Thursday, July 22, to one day in jail, three years of probation and 300 hours of community service for his guilty plea to insider trading in 2018. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Kendricks is versatile and not over the hill yet at age 30. He can sign with any team and wants to play this year. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [DAL - Five players starting on PUP]( Source: ESPN.com - Todd Archer Dallas Cowboys DE DeMarcus Lawrence (back), DT Trysten Hill (knee), PK Greg Zuerlein (back), DE Chauncey Golston (hamstring) and OG Mitch Hyatt (knee) will begin training camp on the Physcially Unable to Perform list, according to a source Thursday, July 22. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Lawrence's history of back problems is well-chronicled and the Cowboys don't have a lot of proven edge rush depth behind him. Mike McCarthy said Hill is the "farthest away", which is an issue for a thin defensive tackle group. The Cowboys could still be active in free agency if these issues don't get resolved soon. Zuerlein's situation is one to monitor in leagues that still use kickers, as he often goes in the top five kickers off of the board. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [NYJ - Elijah Moore inks rookie deal]( Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini New York Jets second-round pick WR Elijah Moore signed a four-year, $8.94 million deal with a $3.86 million signing bonus. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Moore was one of the most talked about rookies in OTAs. He could force his way into a starting job even after the team restructured Jamison Crowder's contract to keep him for the 2021 season. Make Moore part of your back half draft plans. [DET - WR Danny Amendola looking to sign](=) Source: Pro Football Focus - Doug Kyed Free-agent WR Danny Amendola (Lions) has been working out with Arizona Cardinals QB [Colt McCoy](=) and still wants to play if he can find the right situation, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Cardinals don't need Amendola, but a team like the Titans could use him. He should be high on the emergency list for teams that need a slot receiver and will likely get calls during the season if he's not signed before Week 1. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [DEN - WR Courtland Sutton to be eased in](=) Source: The Denver Post - Ryan O'Halloran Denver Broncos WR Courtland Sutton (knee) is hoping to be ready for Week 1 but is expected to see a limited workload during training camp. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This should help break ties against Sutton in drafts and nudge folks towards Jerry Jeudy out of the Broncos wide receiver group. Jeudy should be better if Teddy Bridgewater wins the quarterback job, while Drew Lock winning would benefit Sutton. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [NYG - RB Mike Weber, Jordyn Peters signed](=) Source: Giants.com - Dan Salomone Free-agent RB Mike Weber (Packers) and S Jordyn Peters (Jets) signed with the New York Giants Wednesday, July 21. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Weber could push for a roster spot as the third running back behind Saquon Barkley and Devontae Booker with Corey Clement and sixth round pick Gary Brightwell also in the mix. Weber was a seventh round pick of the Cowboys in 2019 and has a downhill running style with nimble footwork. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [DAL - DE Demarcus Lawrence underwent surgery]() Source: 1 No Source Dallas Cowboys DE Demarcus Lawrence (back) underwent back surgery during the offseason, Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said Thursday, July 22. 'I think it was more of a cleanup. ... He looks great,' McCarthy said. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] There is no such as minor back surgery, and as Eric Stoner says, rarely do we hear that a player "used to" have back issues. Lawrence is a crucial player in a Dallas defense that sorely needs to improve the pass rush. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [GB - Uncertain timetable for David Bakhtiari]() Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Michael David Smith Green Bay Packers OT David Bakhtiari (knee) says he's uncertain whether he'll be ready for Week 1. 'This is my first time going through this, so I'm just going to attack every day, try to hit every benchmark I can,' Bakhtiari said. 'And once 'Doc' (Packers physician Dr. Patrick McKenzie) can check me off, I can check myself and I can go out there and not only perform and protect myself but perform at the level that the Packers need me to, I think that's where you'll see me return, on that date.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Packers have bigger problems to deal with right now, but Bakhtiari is obviously important to their offense, but they advanced in the playoffs without him last year and have starting guard Elgton Jenkins available to add depth at offensive tackle if necessary. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- That'll do it for today, Folks. Let me pause and say thank you.
