[] 1. [ARI - Edmonds Favorite to be Featured Back?](=) Source: Adam Beasley - Pro Football Network Adam Beasley, from Pro Football Network, reports Arizona Cardinals RB Chase Edmonds is "the favorite to be the team's featured back." [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That's what most people are expecting. The Cardinals picked up James Conner and he'll be there to get some complementary work. Edmonds can thrive as a runner and receiver out of the backfield. His touchdowns are dinged by the presence of QB Kyler Murray but he should get more than the one rushing touchdown he had in 2020. Edmonds is a low-end RB2/flex play for Fantasy GMs this year. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [CHI - RB Tarik Cohen still recovering]() Source: WSCR Radio-Chicago - Mark Grote Chicago Bears RB Tarik Cohen (knee) had his right leg wrapped and did not take part in minicamp, and Mark Grote of WSCR Radio said Cohen looked 'a bit stiff' while walking around. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Cohen tore his ACL in Week 3 last year and has been on the road to recovery ever since. That road does include some stiffness - even months later. We'll see how much Cohen can participate in practice when training camp opens up. When healthy, Cohen is the change-of-pace back behind starter David Montgomery. The Bears also added Damien Williams this offseason, and the former Chiefs starter would get a larger workload if Montgomery has to miss time. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [LVR - RB Kenyan Drake expecting big role]() Source: NFL.com - Kevin Patra Las Vegas Raiders RB Kenyan Drake said Friday, July 9, that he expects to have a sizable role alongside lead back Josh Jacobs in the Raiders' offense. 'I'm definitely excited to see how our roles continue to develop with obviously Josh being the main guy to do what he needs to do because I have much respect and love for him and his game and what coach (Jon) Gruden has planned for us in that specific capacity,' Drake told SiriusXM NFL Radio. 'But I feel like I might have a big role in this offense. With them being a top-10 offense last year, the sky is the limit for us. I'm ready to see us take it to the next level.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Another day, another positive story about Drake. Jacobs is the primary ball-carrier for the Raiders, but Drake might see work as a runner and receiver used all over the formation. There's enough intrigue there to watch his usage in the preseason and keep an eye on those reports from training camp. Drake is an RB3 with plenty of flex appeal in PPR formats. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [BUF - RB Singletary 'Looking Stronger, Feeling Faster'](=) Source: Maddy Glab - BuffaloBills.com Maddy Glad, from BuffaloBills.com, reports Bills RB Devin Singletary showed up to last month's mandatory minicamp "looking stronger and feeling faster." [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That's great news for Singletary but it has to show up on the field. Just a week ago, The Athletic's Joe Buscaglia reported RB Zack Moss could "take over the backfield in 2021 if he continues to improve." He speculated Moss could get as many as 70 percent of the team's snaps in 2021. That doesn't leave many opportunities (or fantasy points) for a 'stonger/faster' Singletary. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [DAL - WR Cooper 'Cutting it Close'](=) Source: Mike Fisher - Sports Illustrated Mike Fisher, from Sports Illustrated, reports Dallas Cowboys WR Amari Cooper will be "cutting it close" to start training camp as he recovers from ankle surgery. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Cooper did not participate in OTAs or minicamp as he was still recovering from the surgery he had back in January. There's no word on his availability for the start of training camp, but we bet the team is going to ease the veteran back into action. This means he may only practice sparingly in training camp and could be very limited in the preseason. There was some speculation about a month ago that Cooper would begin camp on the PUP list. Stay tuned. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- FOOTBALLGUYS PICKS SAVE TIME | WORRY LESS | WIN MORE - Winning fantasy football can be difficult. [] 6. [WAS - WR Humphries Could See Around 60 Targets](=) Source: JP Finlay - NBC Sports Washington JP Finlay, from NBC Sports Washington, speculates Washington WR Adam Humphries could see "around 60" targets this year. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Humphries will get work as the no.3 receiver behind Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel in 2021. With QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, Humphries could see more work than some think and he will be a trusted target. However, will it be enough to be fantasy relevant? Probably not. With TE Logan Thomas, RBs Antonio Gibson and J.D. McKissic plus those aforementioned wide receivers Humphrpies is pretty far down the pecking order in Washington. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [NE - Shoulder injury hampered QB Cam Newton](=) Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Michael David Smith New England Patriots QB Cam Newton said Friday, July 9, in a video posted on YouTube that his shoulder injury suffered in December 2016 affected him and his style of play for the ensuing three-plus years. He added that he began to feel fully recovered only last season. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Newton had a bad 2020 season but the Patriots brought him back for another run. He's going to compete with rookie first-round pick Mac Jones for the starting job in training camp. Newton could win the job with his experience and improved play, but if he falters then the team might want to just see what they have with Jones in the lineup. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [PIT - RB Benny Snell not a lock for roster?](=) Source: ESPN - Brooke Pryor Pittsburgh Steelers RB Benny Snell's roster spot could be in jeopardy after the offseason additions of RB Najee Harris and RB Kalen Ballage, according to Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Harris will be the starter and the lead back for the Steelers this year. Ballage has bounced around the league a bit but he has flashed a bit as a runner and receiver out of the backfield. Add in change-of-pace back Anthony McFarland and you can see how things are cramped. Snell has a determined style with little flash to his game. He should make the 53-man roster, and you could make the argument that he's the best suited to be the primary backup to Harris in 2021. We'll see how this shakes out in training camp. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [NYG - Rookie WR Toney To Be Brought Along Slowly]( Source: Dan Duggan - The Athletic Dan Duggan, from The Athletic, reports New York Giants rookie WR Kadarius Toney will be brought along slowly in 2021. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Toney is fast...like, super fast, and the team will be wise to use that speed in a number of ways. Earlier reports indicated the team is planning on using the rookie first-round pick all over the formation. That's good from a football standpoint, but from a fantasy perspective it could run hot and cold (mostly cold). Kenny Golladay is the primary WR and main fantasy target if you're looking at Giants receivers. We'll see how Toney works along slowly into the mix behind/with guys like Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [NE - WR Meyers Most Reliable and Productive in 2021?]() Source: Tom Curran - NBC Sports Boston Tom Curran, from NBC Sports Boston, would "put (his) cash" on Jakobi Meyers being "the most reliable and productive Patriots wideout in 2021." [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Meyers is what Fantasy GMs call a perfect late-round (final round?) flier. The opportunity could be there for Meyers, not only because of his natural talent but also because of the lack of talent with the other wide receivers on the depth chart. The ever inconsistent Nelson Agholor is the other starting receiver on the outside for the Patriots. They also have TEs Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry to get targets when they go through the air. Meyers could be a nice 'what the heck' flex to mix in for your fantasy team. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- That'll do it for today, Folks.
