Rock on. [] INSIDE THIS ISSUE 1. [KC - QB Patrick Mahomes excited for 2021](#1) 2. [CHI - Key role for RB Damien Williams?](#2) 3. [DEN - WR Jerry Jeudy a breakout candidate](#3) 4. [LVR - RB Kenyan Drake a receiving threat](#4) 5. [PHI - RB Jordan Howard not a roster lock](#5) 6. [ATL - Bigger role for WR Olamide Zaccheaus?](#6) 7. [LAR - WR DeSean Jackson top option for No. 3 WR job](#7) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 1. [KC - QB Patrick Mahomes excited for 2021]( Source: NFL.com - Kevin Patra Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (toe) reiterated this week that he's feeling healthy and is eager for the 2021 season. 'The toe's feeling great,' he said during an interview that aired on NFL Network on Thursday, July 8. 'I'm out here playing golf, being able to walk around the course. I've been running, cutting, jumping, throwing, doing it all. So I'm just excited to get back to training camp and have another chance to make a run at it and win the Super Bowl this year.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Mahomes is back and healthy for the 2021 season. He was banged up during the Chiefs playoff run with a toe injury and you could tell that he wasn't his normal self in the Super Bowl. The Chiefs revamped their offensive line this offseason to better protect Mahomes and they'll once again have one of the most high-powered offenses in the league. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [CHI - Key role for RB Damien Williams?]() Source: Shaw Media - Sean Hammond Chicago Bears RB Damien Williams could be a 'true backup' for RB David Montgomery, according to Sean Hammond of The Daily Herald. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That's what everyone expected when Williams was signed by the Bears. He opted out of the 2020 season but was a key cog for the Chiefs offense when they won a Super Bowl in 2019. Tarik Cohen is the pass-catching back behind Montgomery, but Williams would be pressed into duty as a three-down player if Montgomery had to miss time. Keep that in mind when drafting Montgomery and in leagues where there is enough roster depth for handcuffing. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [DEN - WR Jerry Jeudy a breakout candidate]() Source: The Athletic - Nick Kosmider Denver Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy was selected as Athletic beat writer Nick Kosmider's team breakout candidate, saying that the second-year wide receiver has looked 'sharp' during offseason workouts. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] There is no doubt that we haven't seen the best from Jeudy. He struggled through his rookie season because of drops and poor quarterback play. Whether Drew Lock improves as a passer or Teddy Bridgewater starts, Jeudy could breakout in 2021. It's worth noting that Bridgewater and Jeudy showed instant and strong chemistry all offseason long during OTAs and mandatory minicamp. Jeudy will start on the outside with Courtland Sutton, a breakout candidate himself, coming back from the knee injury that cost him most of 2020. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [LVR - RB Kenyan Drake a receiving threat]() Source: NFL.com - Gil Brandt Las Vegas Raiders RB Kenyan Drake should be featured more in the passing game than he was with the Arizona Cardinals, and could often line up as the X or Y receiver, in the opinion of NFL analyst Gil Brandt. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Josh Jacobs is the primary back for the Raiders and he will get a majority of the carries in 2021. Drake is working as a slot receiver in addition to how he likely will be featured as a receiver out of the backfield. Fantasy GMs consider Jacobs a mid-range RB2 while Drake is seen as a RB3/flex option in PPR formats and he's got a current ADP of RB37 (8.02). [Sign Up Now]() --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [PHI - RB Jordan Howard not a roster lock](=) Source: ESPN.com - Tim McManus Philadelphia Eagles RB Jordan Howard is on the roster bubble in training camp, in the opinion of ESPN's Tim McManus who notes that since Howard reg-signed with the team in April, the Eagles have drafted Kenneth Gainwell and signed free agent Kerryon Johnson. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] No surprise here. Howard is back with the Eagles but he's a two-down thumper who comes off the field on passing downs. The addition of Gainwell and Johnson means that Howard is going to have a tough time making the 53-man roster. We'll see how he competes in training camp. Howard's one-year deal with the Eagles includes no guaranteed money, and he admitted no other team reached out in free agency. Needless to say, the market will not be thriving for his services if he doesn't make the Eagles final roster. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [ATL - Bigger role for WR Olamide Zaccheaus?]() Source: FalconsWire - Deen Worley Atlanta Falcons WR Olamide Zaccheaus should be the 'immediate benefactor' of the trade of WR Julio Jones to the Tennessee Titans, according to Deen Worley of FalconsWire. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Zaccheaus had a couple of good games in 2020, including a four-catch, 103-yard performance (with one touchdown) against the Broncos in Week 9. With Jones missing time last year, Zaccheaus got more work and looked good. Now, Jones is gone and Zaccheaus will compete for the no.3 job on the WR depth chart behind Calvin Ridley and Russell Gage. Nobody is drafting Zaccheaus but keep him on your waiver wire speed dial in deeper leagues. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [LAR - WR DeSean Jackson top option for No. 3 WR job]() Source: ESPN.com - Lindsey Thiry Los Angeles Rams WR DeSean Jackson is considered the leading candidate for the No. 3 receiver job entering training camp. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That sounds about right. Jackson is still a deep threat and will take the top off the defense for QB Matthew Stafford. From a fantasy perspective, there's value in his role but it's more of a 'what the heck' flex on a weekly basis just hoping for a big play or two. He's not getting drafted right now, so keep Jackson on your waiver wire speed dial to begin the season. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and thanks for being part of the Footballguys Family.
