[#Footballguys 101 - Personnel Grouping Numbers]() #Footballguys 101 is where I'll throw out stuff you probably already know. Here's today's version: Know your personnel package numbers. The 1st number is the number of RBs. The 2nd number is the number of TEs. [check it out here]() and to [@WizardOfRoto](=) for the image. [] INSIDE THIS ISSUE 1. [SF - Trey Lance has legitimate shot to start](#1) 2. [JAX - Growth at WR for Laviska Shenault Jr. a focal point](#2) 3. [CLE - WR Odell Beckham Jr. back on the field](#3) 4. [NE - N'Keal Harry injured in practice Tuesday](#4) 5. [ATL - Frank Darby inks rookie deal](#5) 6. [MIA - TE Mike Gesicki open to extension](#6) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 1. [SF - Trey Lance has legitimate shot to start]( Source: NBC Sports Bay Area - Matt Maiocco San Francisco 49ers QB Trey Lance will be given 'every opportunity' to rise up the team's depth chart in training camp and perhaps challenge Jimmy Garoppolo for the starting job, according to NBC Sports Bay Area's Matt Maiocco. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Those who think Lance needs time to develop aren't inaccurate with that sentiment, but the rookie may not need to sit on the bench that long. His playmaking ability as a rusher can help him make a play while he continues to grow as a passer. We'll see how this battle shakes out in training camp but one thing is clear; Lance is the future for the 49ers and that future may be here sooner than some think. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [JAX - Growth at WR for Laviska Shenault Jr. a focal point]( Source: Jaguar Report - John Shipley Jacksonville Jaguars WR Laviska Shenault Jr. is unlikely to be used as much on running plays in 2021, based on recent comments made by Darrell Bevell, who told reporters Tuesday, June 15, that he wants Shenault to develop 'as a pure wide receiver this offseason.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Another day, another positive report for Shenault. He's got a ton of talent but fell to the second round of the draft in 2020 due to multiple injuries in college at Colorado. Shenault is a versatile player who wins with strength, athleticism and run-after-the-catch ability. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [CLE - WR Odell Beckham Jr. back on the field]() Source: Akron Beacon Journal - Nate Ulrich Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. (knee) was spotted at practice at mandatory minicamp for the first time Tuesday, June 15, since tearing his interior cruciate ligament nearly eight months ago, according to Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Knee injuries aren't quite as devastating as they used to be, but the Browns will be cautious with Beckham as he works his way back on the field. Beckham reportedly did not wear a brace, wrap or sleeve on his injured knee. [Sign Up Now]() --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [NE - N'Keal Harry injured in practice Tuesday]() Source: The Athletic - Jeff Howe New England Patriots WR N'Keal Harry (calf) suffered a calf injury during practice Tuesday, June 15. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Harry, a former first-round pick, is on the roster bubble and this injury isn't going to help his chances. No word on the severity of the injury, and it's the Patriots so we probably won't know a bunch about that, but Harry needs to get healthy, stay healthy and show off in practice if he wants to make the team. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [ATL - Frank Darby inks rookie deal]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Atlanta Falcons sixth-round pick WR Frank Darby (Arizona State) signed a four-year contract Tuesday, June 15. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Darby is a late-round pick but we love his upside in deep dynasty formats. He was a consistent playmaker each day of practice at the Senior Bowl earlier this year and Darby goes all out to make a play. The Falcons wide receiver room looks different without Julio Jones, so we'll see how Darby can work his way onto the 53-man roster in training camp. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [MIA - TE Mike Gesicki open to extension]( Source: The Miami Herald - Barry Jackson, Adam Beasley and Armando Salguero Miami Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki is in the final year of his rookie deal and open to signing an extension. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Gesicki has come around over the last couple of years. He's improved his game each season and his size makes him a threat in the red zone. Gesicki should be a favorite target of QB Tua Tagovailoa in 2021. He's a low-end TE1 for Fantasy GMs. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and thanks for being part of the Footballguys Family. We'll see you tomorrow with the Update.
