[DEN - Daesean Hamilton has torn ACL](#5) 6. [MIA - Jaylen Waddle signs rookie deal](#6) 7. [NYG - RB Corey Clement trying out for NYG](#7) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 1. [GB - Coach: QB Aaron Rodgers wanted](=) Source: Green Bay Press-Gazette - Ryan Wood Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers has been the subject of rampant trade speculation since reports surfaced in late April that he wants out of Green Bay. Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Friday, May 14, that there's 'nothing new to add' about the situation. 'We obviously still feel the same way,' LaFleur added. 'We want him back in the worst way. He knows that.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Packers are trying their best to mend fences with Rodgers. There are rumblings that the team is working on a new contract that could make him the highest paid quarterback in the league. Jordan Love is not ready to take over as the team's starter and Rodgers is still playing at an elite level. Expect the Packers to make the strongest push possible to see if Rodgers will want to stay. June 1st is when his cap hit is greatly reduced in a trade, so that's a target date in this situation. Stay on the edge of your seat and stay tuned. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [DEN - Denver to have 50-50 QB battle]( Source: NFL Network - James Palmer Denver Broncos QBs Drew Lock and Teddy Bridgewater will split offseason repetitions '50-50,' head coach Vic Fangio said Friday, May 14. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Bridgewater is going to get a shot to be the starter. Lock was the starter for most of the year in 2020, but he was performing poorly and turning the ball over in most games. We'll see if Lock's offseason work, including film study with Peyton Manning, helps him beat out Bridgewater. The early season schedule for the Broncos is great (Giants, Jaguars, Jets) so the offense could get off to a hot start. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [TB - QB Tom Brady to throw next week]( Source: Tampa Bay Times - Rick Stroud Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady (knee) plans to resume throwing next week after he said he had a 'pretty serious knee surgery' after the Super Bowl. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Brady will get eased back into action with the Buccaneers. In a recent interview, Brady admitted that he spent a lot of time tending to his knee during last year and never fully grasped the Bruce Arians playbook. With a year in the system and a healthy knee, Brady could at least match (or best?) the numbers (40 touchdowns) that made him the no.7 fantasy quarterback in 2020. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [CHI - Kyle Sloter to try out]( Source: Chicago Sun-Times - Patrick Finley Free-agent QB Kyle Sloter (Raiders) will participate in the Chicago Bears upcoming rookie minicamp on a tryout basis. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Sloter has played for the Bears before. He had a tryout with them last summer but didn't land on the practice squad until November. Sloter is just trying to hang on in the league at this point. [DEN - Daesean Hamilton has torn ACL]() Source: NFL Network - Taylor Bisciotti Denver Broncos WR Daesean Hamilton (knee) recently suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament, according to sources. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Hamilton was supposed to be released on Thursday. Then, it was revealed he might get traded away instead. Now, he's got an ACL injury and won't be able to pass a physical. He'll struggle to find a team in 2021 depending on how long his recovery takes from this injury. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [MIA - Jaylen Waddle signs rookie deal]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Miami Dolphins first-round pick WR Jaylen Waddle (Alabama) signed his four-year, fully guaranteed contract Friday, May 14. Financial terms weren't disclosed, and all first-round picks have an option for a fifth year. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Waddle was arguably the best wide receiver in this draft class. He's already got a connection with QB Tua Tagovailoa from their days together in college at Alabama, and that chemistry should show up quickly on the field in the pros. Waddle was mainly used in the slot but he does have experience lining up out wide. Despite his size (182 pounds) Waddle is strong at the catch point, and he's got speed, speed and more speed. Waddle looks like the total package at the wide receiver position and can have fantasy relevance from day one. He could easily outperform his current ADP of WR57 (12.02) in 12-team PPR leagues. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [NYG - RB Corey Clement trying out for NYG]() Source: ESPN.com - Jordan Raanan Free agent RB Corey Clement (Eagles) is among the players trying out for the New York Giants at their rookie minicamp this weekend, according to a report Friday, May 15. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Clement is trying to latch on with a new team and we'll see if he can impress during this tryout. He played only 108 snaps last year, rushing 21 times for 75 yards and one touchdown. Clement also chipped in with five catches for 25 yards. A few years ago (2017, 2018), Clement flashed some talent and was a reserve player to watch. Now, he's just trying to hang on in the league. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and thanks for being part of the Footballguys Family.
