[WAS - QB Taylor Heinicke to start Saturday?](=) Source: The Athletic - Rhiannon Walker Washington Football Team QB [Taylor Heinicke](=) took the majority of first-team reps at quarterback Thursday, Jan. 7, according to head coach Ron Rivera. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Heinicke didn't look bad in Week 16, and he gives the team a more athletic option than Alex Smith. With Smith banged up, Washington may feel that Heinicke gives them the best chance to win in the Wild Card Round. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [TB - WR Mike Evans a game-time call]( Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates Updating previous reports, Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR [Mike Evans](=) (knee) will be a game-time decision to play Saturday, Jan. 9, head coach Bruce Arians said Thursday. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] No surprise here. Evans has a hyper-extended knee and is getting eased along this week during practice. We'll have to go up until game time to see if he's going to play. The team is optimistic that Evans will play. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [HOU - QB Deshaun Watson may want out](=) Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Mike Florio Houston Texans QB [Deshaun Watson](=) has pondered the possibility of requesting a trade, according to multiple sources. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Watson tweeted out 'some things never change' after the Texans hired GM Nick Caserio earlier this week. He was already unhappy with coach Bill O'Brien and now it seems Watson is disgruntled with the front office too. If the Texans were to trade him away they would get a king's ransom in return. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [PHI - Jim Schwartz stepping down as DC]() Source: PhiladelphiaEagles.com Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz announced his resignation Thursday, Jan. 7. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Eagles are keeping head coach Doug Pederson, but now they'll have to look for a new defensive coordinator. Injuries and lack of talent caused weaknesses in the Eagles defense in 2020. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [NO - RB Alvin Kamara a remote participant]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter New Orleans Saints RB [Alvin Kamara](=) (illness) is participating in practices remotely this week via advanced video technology, per sources, as the Saints prepare for their wild-card game Sunday, Jan. 10, against the Chicago Bears. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Kamara has to be quarantined until Saturday. Saints head coach Sean Payton has already said that Kamara does not need to practice in order to play in the Wild Card Round. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [BUF - WR Stefon Diggs listed as questionable]( Source: NFL Network - James Palmer Buffalo Bills WR [Stefon Diggs](=) (oblique) returned to practice on a limited basis Thursday, Jan. 7, and is listed as questionable for Saturday's wild-card game against the Indianapolis Colts. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Diggs is a little banged up with this quad injury but he will be good to go for the Wild Card Round. Without WR Cole Beasley, Diggs should get plenty of looks early and often. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [DAL - WR Amari Cooper undergoes ankle procedure]( Source: ESPN.com - Todd Archer Dallas Cowboys WR [Amari Cooper](=) (ankle) recently underwent ankle surgery that was termed 'a cleanup,' according to ESPN.com's Todd Archer, who added that Cooper will not require a long rehab. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Cooper will be good to go for the start of training camp. He's the no.1 receiver of the Cowboys and should continue as a WR2 with upside for Fantasy GMs. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [NYG - RB Devonta Freeman moving on from NY Giants]() Source: ESPN.com - Jordan Raanan New York Giants RB [Devonta Freeman](=) (ankle, knee) was waived from the Reserve/Injured list Thursday, Jan. 7. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Freeman could not stay healthy and did not impress during his time with the Giants. He's not the same player he used to be and is likely done playing in the NFL. Perhaps someone picks him up as a veteran reserve player in 2021, but it wouldn't surprise us if he's just headed for retirement. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [PHI - QB Tyree Jackson catches on with Philadelphia]() Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero Free-agent QB Tyree Jackson (XFL) signed a Reserve/Future contract with the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday, Jan. 7. The expectation is that the Eagles will move him to tight end. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jackson was a huge quarterback with a big arm and some athleticism. He's not much of a passer and a move to tight end would be interesting. We'll monitor this situation but only in crazy deep dynasty formats. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and thanks for being part of the Footballguys Family.
