[PHI - WR Alshon Jeffery, DT Malik Jackson get restructured deals](#21) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 1. [JAX - Doug Marrone fired]( Source: Jaguars.com Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone was fired Monday, Jan. 4. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Zero surprise here. Marrone failed to find a quarterback and the team didn't have much success with him outside of a run to the AFC Championship (with Blake Bortles at quarterback) in 2017. The Jaguars are reportedly interested in Urban Meyer as their next head coach. They have the no.1 overall pick and $100 million in cap space to help turn things around in 2021 and beyond. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [LAC - Anthony Lynn let go](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Los Angeles Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn was fired Monday, Jan. 4. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Lynn had a 33-31 record with the Chargers during the regular season and made one trip to the postseason with them in four years. The team regularly lost games late under Lynn and that's what cost him his job even though the team has a young rising star in QB Justin Herbert. With the assets on both sides of the ball, and Herbert at quarterback, the Chargers will be quite the attractive destination for a new head coach. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [CIN - QB Zac Taylor staying]( Source: Bengals.com Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor will remain as head coach in 2021. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That sounds about right. Taylor gets another year with QB Joe Burrow and we'll see if the team can start fast and finish strong in the competitive AFC North. The Bengals have plenty of offensive talent like Burrow, RB Joe Mixon and WRs Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd. The team needs to build a better offensive line and continue to add talent on defense as well. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [NO - RB Alvin Kamara likely back]() Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero New Orleans Saints RB [Alvin Kamara](=) (illness) is likely to be back for the Wild Card round of the playoffs against the Chicago Bears. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Kamara has to stay quarantined through Saturday. The Saints play on Sunday in the Wild Card Round and Saints coach Sean Payton has said that Kamara does not need to practice in order to play. He's a true game-time decision. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [NO - WR Michael Thomas likely back]() Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero New Orleans Saints WR [Michael Thomas](=) (ankle) is likely to be back for the Wild Card round of the playoffs against the Chicago Bears. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That was the plan all along when the Saints shut Thomas down for the rest of the regular season. When Thomas was put on Injured Reserve with three weeks left, the idea was that he would be close to 100 percent by the time the postseason rolled around. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [PHI - QB Carson Wentz likely to stay]() Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafolo Philadelphia Eagles QB [Carson Wentz](=) is likely to remain with the team as general manager Howie Roseman said he couldn't envision the team without him. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Wentz may want a trade but he's got a challenging contract. He is under contract through the 2024 season and carries at least $6 million in dead cap money every year until the deal runs out. The Eagles made Wentz a healthy scratch in the season finale, so the team may have to do some salary cap gymnastics to get rid of him and move forward with Jalen Hurts or someone else at quarterback. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [LAR - QB Jared Goff iffy for playoff game](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Los Angeles Rams QB [Jared Goff](=) (thumb) hasn't been ruled out for the playoff game Saturday, Jan. 9, but it's going to be challenging to return 12 days after thumb surgery. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Rams were originally optimistic that Goff would be able to go in the Wild Card Round after missing Week 17. John Wolford would get another start if Goff can't go on Saturday. It will be 12 days since his surgery when the Rams play the Seahawks and we'll know more about Goff's status later in the week. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [JAX - More on Jacksonville's pursuit of Urban Meyer](=) Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Mike Florio Updating a previous report, former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer appears to be interested in becoming the next head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, but a league source reported Monday, Jan. 4, that Meyer will reportedly seek $12 million per year if he does so. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Jaguars have an interesting situation this offseason as they may be the most desirable destination. They have a spot open at head coach, general manager, the no.1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft and $100 million in cap space. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [DEN - Denver looking for new GM]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Denver Broncos general manager and president of football operations John Elway announced Monday, Jan. 4, that he intends to take on an elevated role within the organization. Elway is expected to remain the president of football operations but give up his title as the general manager. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Elway is stepping up in the organization and will help choose the new General Manager. His first draft pick as GM of the Broncos was a future Hall of Famer in LB Von Miller, and Elway did put together a team with Peyton Manning that went to two Super Bowls in four years with one championship. Since that victory in Super Bowl 50 it's been all downhill for the Broncos. We'll see what the new GM thinks of QB Drew Lock but this move by Elway, Lock's biggest supporter, has to be seen as potentially bad news for the young passer. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [NYG - NYG ink 13 to futures deals]() Source: Giants.com New York Giants WR Alex Bachman, LB Trent Harris, DB Montre Hartage, CB Jarren Williams, QB Alex Tanney, CB Quincy Wilson, LS Carson Tinker, OG Kenny Wiggins, TE Rysen John, RB Taquan Mizzell, DT David Moa, OG Chad Slade and QB Clayton Thorson were signed to futures deals Monday, Jan. 4. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Look for Alex Tanney trick shot videos on YouTube, trust us you will not be disappointed. However, don't keep Tanney on your roster even in the deepest of deep dynasty formats. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [CHI - Darnell Mooney injures ankle]() Source: The Associated Press Chicago Bears WR [Darnell Mooney](=) (ankle) suffered an ankle injury against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, Jan. 3, and did not return. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Ankle injuries are problematic for receivers, especially ones with elite speed like Mooney. His status for the team's Wild Card matchup with the New Orleans Saints is uncertain. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [LVR - RB Josh Jacobs charged with DUI](=) Source: ESPN.com - Paul Gutierrez Las Vegas Raiders RB [Josh Jacobs](=) was arrested for driving under the influence following a single-vehicle collision early in the morning of Monday, Jan. 4. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Raiders didn't make the playoffs, and the legal process now has to take its course. That means fines and a potential suspension are coming for the Raiders starter. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [BUF - WR Kenny Stills lands with Bills]() Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafolo Free-agent WR [Kenny Stills](=) (Texans) signed with the Buffalo Bills' practice squad Monday, Jan. 4. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Bills need help at the wide receiver position with Cole Beasley banged up. If Beasley can't play on Saturday against the Colts, then Stills could get the call up to the active roster. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [DEN - Denver signs 10 to futures deals]( Source: DenverBroncos.com - Aric DiLalla Denver Broncos practice squad OT Quinn Bailey, OT Darrin Paulo, WR Trinity Benson, WR Fred Brown, WR [Kendall Hinton](=), CB Chris Cooper, RB Jeremy Cox, RB Damarea Crockett, TE Jordan Leggett and DT Deyon Sizer signed Reserve/Future contracts with the Broncos Monday, Jan. 4. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Fred Brown has flashed a bit here and there during his time with the Broncos. That's worth monitoring but only in the deepest of deep dynasty formats. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 15. [NYJ - Nine sign futures deals with Jets](=) Source: NewYorkJets.com - Ethan Greenberg Free-agent TE Connor Davis, LB Noah Dawkins, PK Sam Ficken, RB Peter Guerriero, CB Zane Lewis, WR Joshua Malone, WR DJ Montgomery, WR [Jaleel Scott](=) and QB Mike White signed Reserve/Future contracts with the New York Jets Monday, Jan. 4. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jaleel Scott is a player we'll continue to monitor but only in crazy deep dynasty formats. He's a big-bodied receiver who can make plays with his wingspan and strength. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 16. [CAR - Carolina adds 14 to offseason roster](=) Source: Panthers.com - Will Bryan Carolina Panthers LBs Daniel Bituli and Chris Orr, OGs Mike Horton and Aaron Monteiro, WRs Ventell Bryant, Amara Darboh, Ishmael Hyman and Marken Michel, C Sam Tecklenburg, DB Sean Chandler, LB Clay Johnston, DT Mike Panasiuk, TE Giovanni Ricci and PK Lirim Hajrullahu were signed to futures deals Monday, Jan. 4. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Ventell Bryant had some late-round buzz when he entered the NFL draft in 2019, but he fell undrafted and has bounced around the league a bit. He played at Temple under Panthers head coach Matt Rhule, so it makes sense he would get a spot to prove himself with the Panthers. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 17. [MIN - Justin Jefferson breaks rookie record]() Source: The Associated Press Minnesota Vikings WR [Justin Jefferson](=) broke the Super Bowl era record for receiving yards by a rookie with 1,379. The record was previously held by then-Arizona Cardinals WR Anquan Boldin, who had 1,377 receiving yards in 2003. Bill Groman of the Houston Oilers still holds the NFL record with 1,473 yards back in 1960. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jefferson had a magnificent rookie season, and he certainly showed why the Vikings drafted him in the first round (with the pick they traded away Stefon Diggs for). He's got a bright upside in the NFL as he continues to develop his pro game. Jefferson is looking to be a late first- or early second-round pick in fantasy drafts this summer. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 18. [PHI - Nine ink futures deals with Philadelphia]( Source: PhiladelphiaEagles.com - Chris McPherson Philadelphia Eagles WR [Deontay Burnett](=), TE [Hakeem Butler](=), S Blake Countess, DT Treyvon Hester, CB Lavert Hill, RB Elijah Holyfield, CB Jameson Houston, DE Matt Leo and DE Joe Ostman were signed to futures contract Monday, Jan. 4. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Deontay Burnett has been a training camp star for a couple of seasons. That's worth noting for Fantasy GMs but only in crazy deep dynasty formats. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 19. [SF - San Francisco announces several futures deals](=) Source: The Athletic - Matt Barrows San Francisco 49ers CB Adonis Alexander, DL Josiah Coatney, S Chris Edwards, LB Jonas Griffith, DL Daeshon Hall, CB Tim Harris Jr., FB Josh Hokit, WR Jauan Jennings, WR Austin Proehl, OL Dakoda Shepley, WR Kevin White and OL Isaiah Williams were signed to futures deals Monday, Jan. 4. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jauan Jennings was a player we appreciated during his time in college at the University of Tennessee. He's got a nice size/speed combination and was known for making defenders miss with the Volunteers. We'll continue monitoring Jennings but only in deep dynasty formats. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 20. [BUF - WR Cole Beasley unlikely to go in Wild Card round]() Source: BuffaloBills.com - Chris Brown Buffalo Bills WR [Cole Beasley](=) (knee) is 'still working his way back' and remains week-to-week, according to comments made by head coach Sean McDermott on Monday, Jan. 4. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] There's a reason why the Bills added WR Kenny Stills to their practice squad. If Beasley isn't able to go in the Wild Card Round, then Stills could be activated and produce in a limited role. Without Beasley, we should see more targets for WRs Stefon Diggs and John Brown plus a couple of extra looks for TE Dawson Knox. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 21. [PHI - WR Alshon Jeffery, DT Malik Jackson get restructured deals](=) Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler Philadelphia Eagles WR [Alshon Jeffery](=) and DL Malik Jackson agreed to restructured contracts Monday, Jan. 4. Financial terms of the deals were not immediately disclosed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The duo had to take paycuts or risk getting released. No numbers are available as of right now, but reports indicate Jeffery is taking a massive cut from his $12.7 million salary.
