The Latest From TeamRankings
[Week 5 Value Picks]()Big favorites dominate the board in NFL Week 5, which means that it's a tricky week for fading the public. But one stalwart stands tall yet again in terms of being a clear value pick.
[Week 5 Survivor Picks](
A team with a 1-3 record, the Dallas Cowboys, are the most popular survivor pool pick this week. Does that make sense with many similar options on the board?
[NFL Betting Analysis](
Overs have dominated the season so far, but a team with a consistently stout defense has been bucking the trend. Also, is Dallas' 0-4 ATS streak likely to end? One fact looks promising.

1. [BAL - QB Lamar Jackson back at practice](
Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley
Baltimore Ravens QB [Lamar Jackson](=) (knee) returned to practice Friday, Oct. 9, after missing the previous two days. Jackson wasn't wearing any extra protection on his injured knee and appeared to be moving around well.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Start him as you normally would against the generous Bengals defense.

2. [DAL - Tyron Smith out for season]()
Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
Dallas Cowboys OT Tyron Smith (neck) will miss the rest of the season and undergo neck surgery.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The Cowboys have been very productive with 4th and 5th string offensive tackles, but that will be tested for the rest of the season now that Smith is out. Neck injuries can be career threatening, but Smith is having surgery so the hope is he'll be ready for the 2021 campaign.

3. [LAC - RB Austin Ekeler lands on IR](
Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates
Los Angeles Chargers RB [Austin Ekeler](=) (hamstring) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Friday, Oct. 9.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Ekeler will miss at least three weeks with his hamstring injury. Week 11 after the Chargers bye is a good target date for his return. Joshua Kelly and Justin Jackson will split the work while Ekeler is out.

[]
4. [CLE - Green light for RB Kareem Hunt](
Source: The Chronicle-Telegram - Scott Petrak
Cleveland Browns RB [Kareem Hunt](=) (groin) fully practiced Friday, Oct. 9, and looks 'good to go' according to a team beat reporter.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Hunt has become an instant top 10 running back with Nick Chubb (knee) going to injured reserve. He'll face a tough Colts run defense that is without their best linebacker, Darius Leonard.

[]
5. [TB - DT Vita Vea's season may be over]()
Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
Tampa Bay Buccaneers DT Vita Vea (ankle) is feared to have a season-ending broken ankle.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Vea indeed has a broken ankle and his season is over. This is a big blow to one of the best run defenses in the league. Rakeem Nunez-Roches will play a larger role with Vea sidelined.

6. [BAL - TE Mark Andrews practices Friday](
Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley
Baltimore Ravens TE [Mark Andrews](=) (thigh) participated in practice Friday, Oct. 9, and appeared to be 'moving around well,' according to a team beat reporter.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Andrews spent a lot of time on the injury report last year but usually produced no matter his status going into the game. At the thin tight end position, he has to be in your lineup if he's active.

7. [PHI - WR Alshon Jeffery out for Week 5](=)
Source: The Athletic - Zach Berman
Philadelphia Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery (illness) is out for Week 5 with an illness not related to COVID-19.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Jeffery should be ready to return for the showdown with the Ravens next week as the Eagles sorely need outside wide receivers.

8. [NE - QB Jarrett Stidham would get start](
Source: WEEI.com - Ryan Hannable
New England Patriots QB [Jarrett Stidham](=) would start Monday, Oct. 12, against the Denver Broncos if QB [Cam Newton](=) (COVID-19) has to miss a second straight start.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
It's unclear who will get the start for New England Monday. Cam Newton would obviously be the best case scenario for the offense, but Stidham looked more ready to play than Brian Hoyer last Monday night.

9. [CIN - RB Joe Mixon shows well in practice](
Source: ESPN - Ben Baby
Cincinnati Bengals RB [Joe Mixon](=) (shin) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 9, and appeared to be going through drills with no problem, according to a team beat reporter.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Mixon has a tough matchup this vs. Baltimore, but he's impossible to bench coming off of a three touchdown, 181 total yard performance vs. Jacksonville last week.

10. [SF - Team optimistic about QB Jimmy Garoppolo's return](=)
Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper
San Francisco 49ers QB [Jimmy Garoppolo](=) (ankle) is 'looking like' he will be able to play in Week 5 against the Miami Dolphins, according to comments from head coach Kyle Shanahan, who noted he wants to see how his quarterback's ankle is holding up after two days of limited practice earlier this week before making a final determination.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Garoppolo has a good matchup against the Dolphins and should be squarely in 2QB/Superflex starting consideration. His return would be good news for the whole offense.

11. [MIA - Austin Jackson headed to IR](
Source: The Miami Herald - Barry Jackson
Miami Dolphins OT Austin Jackson (foot) will be placed on the Reserve/Injured list, the team said Friday, Oct. 9.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Jackson had been playing very well and was ahead of schedule in his development despite being a first round pick that came with high expectations. Julie'n Davenport, Jesse Davis, and second round pick Robert Hunt are all candidates to replace him. This could delay the move to Tua Tagovailoa until the line is solidified.

12. [NYG - Oshane Ximines out for a bit]()
Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson
New York Giants LB Oshane Ximines (shoulder) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Friday, Oct. 9.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Ximines is one of the better edge rushers on the Giants roster. They'll miss him vs. Dallas on Sunday. Markus Golden has been underperforming, leaving the defense with little pass rush punch.

13. [CHI - James Daniels done for season]()
Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero
Chicago Bears OG James Daniels (pectoral) will miss the rest of the season with a torn pectoral muscle suffered Thursday, Oct. 8, in the Week 5 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
This is a big blow to an offensive line that was already having trouble opening holes for David Montgomery. Alex Bars and Rashaad Coward are the candidates to replace him.

14. [ARI - Arizona's Week 5 injury report]()
Source: ESPN.com - Josh Weinfuss
Arizona Cardinals LB Devon Kennard (calf) did not practice all week and has been ruled out for Week 5 versus the New York Jets. DL Jordan Phillips (illness) did not practice for a second straight day Friday, Oct. 9, while S Chris Banjo (hamstring) was limited for a second straight day; both players are listed as questionable. TE [Darrell Daniels](=) (thigh) was upgraded to a full practice Friday but is also listed as questionable. S Budda Baker (thumb), RB [Kenyan Drake](=) (chest), WR [Larry Fitzgerald](=) (non-injury), WR [DeAndre Hopkins](=) (non-injury), CB Dre Kirkpatrick (calf), DL Corey Peters (non-injury) and OL Justin Pugh (knee) practiced in full Friday and have been removed from the injury report.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Baker's return will help the Cardinals secondary, not that they will need a ton of help against the Jets passing game led by Joe Flacco.

15. [ATL - Atlanta's Week 5 injury report](=)
Source: AtlantaFalcons.com
Atlanta Falcons S Jaylinn Hawkins (concussion) did not practice all week and has been ruled out for Week 5 versus the Carolina Panthers. WR [Julio Jones](=) (hamstring) also did not practice all week but is listed as questionable. RB [Todd Gurley](=) (rest) and OG James Carpenter (rest) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 9, but are expected to play. S Keanu Neal (hamstring), WR [Calvin Ridley](=) (thigh, knee), S Ricardo Allen (elbow), DT Marlon Davidson (knee), DT Grady Jarrett (hip) and DE Takkarist McKinley (groin) were limited in practice all week but have been removed from the injury report. TE Jaeden Graham (shoulder), PK Younghoe Koo (groin), LB Foyesade Oluokun (oblique) practiced in full Friday and also no longer appear on the injury report. C Alex Mack (rest) was not given a practice designation Friday but is also expected to play.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Jones could play, but last week should show you the risk of playing Jones when he is a true game time decision. Consider him a boom/bust WR3/Flex if he does play vs. Carolina.

16. [DEN - Denver's Friday practice report](=)
Source: DenverBroncos.com
Denver Broncos LB Jeremiah Attaochu (quad), TE [Noah Fant](=) (ankle), WR KJ Hamler (hamstring), NT Mike Purcell (knee) and RB LeVante Bellamy (knee) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 9. QB [Drew Lock](=) (shoulder) and LB Joseph Jones (knee) were limited. CB Davontae Harris (hamstring), CB Bryce Callahan (wrist), S Trey Marshall (wrist) and RB [Phillip Lindsay](=) (foot) practiced in full.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Fant and Hamler are unlikely to play on Monday. Jake Butt could get extended run at tight end and DaeSean Hamilton will man the slot against New England.

17. [BUF - Buffalo's Friday practice report](
Source: BuffaloBills.com
Buffalo Bills LB Matt Milano (pectoral), WR [Andre Roberts](=) (ankle), CB Tre'Davious White (back) and OG Brian Winters (knee) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 9. WR [John Brown](=) (calf), OG Cody Ford (groin), QB Jake Fromm (non-injury) and RB [Zack Moss](=) (toe) were limited. WR [Cole Beasley](=) (foot), LB Del'Shawn Phillips (quad) and QB [Josh Allen](=) (shoulder) practiced in full. DEs Jerry Hughes (non-injury) and Mario Addison (non-injury) were not given a practice designation. The Bills did not practice Friday, so the report is an estimation.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Moss could return this week, but Devin Singletary has played well enough to be ahead of him in the running back rotation. Moss did get three limited practices in last week, but did not return for Week 4. Brown being listed as limited is reason for optimism about his ability to play Tuesday, but he'll be a risky play after coming up gimpy at the end of a practice rep yesterday.

18. [CAR - Week 5 injury report for Carolina]()
Source: 1 No Source
Carolina Panthers CB Eli Apple (hamstring) did not practice for a second straight day Friday, Oct. 9, and has also been ruled out for Week 5 against the Atlanta Falcons. CB Donte Jackson (toe), TE [Chris Manhertz](=) (ankle), OT Russell Okung (groin), S Juston Burris (ankle), OG Dennis Daley (ankle), OT Greg Little (ankle), C Matt Paradis (finger), DT Kawann Short (foot) and TE Colin Thompson (hip) practiced in full Friday, Oct. 9, and have been removed from the injury report. DE Stephen Weatherly (knee) was not given a practice designation for a second straight day Friday but is also expected to play.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Okung being off of the injury report is great news for Teddy Bridgewater and the passing game. Jackson will have the assignment of covering Calvin Ridley if Julio Jones is out.

19. [IND - OLB Darius Leonard to miss Week 5](
Source: The Athletic - Zak Keefer
Indianapolis Colts LB Darius Leonard (groin) on Friday, Oct. 9, was ruled out of the team's Week 5 game against the Cleveland Browns with a groin injury.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Bobby Okereke is the healthiest Colts starting linebacker and he'll be playing with a cast on his left hand to protect a broken thumb. It could be a long day for their strong run defense against Cleveland.

20. [PHI - WR DeSean Jackson to miss another game](
Source: PhiladelphiaEagles.com
Philadelphia Eagles WR [DeSean Jackson](=) (hamstring) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 9, but has been ruled out for Week 5.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
John Hightower and Travis Fulgham will be the top outside receivers for the Eagles in Pittsburgh this week.

21. [TEN - Friday's practice report for Tennessee]()
Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt
Tennessee Titans WR [A.J. Brown](=) (knee) was limited in practice Friday, Oct. 9. CB Malcolm Butler (quad), LB Jadeveon Clowney (knee), RB [Darrynton Evans](=) (hamstring), CB Chris Jackson (hamstring) and OT Taylor Lewan (shoulder) practiced in full. The Titans did not practice Friday, so the report is an estimation.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Brown should return on Tuesday, but since this is an estimation, it's an indication that he's not 100%. Corey Davis and Adam Humphries are both on the covid list, so Brown, Jonnu Smith, and Kalif Raymond will have to shoulder the load in the passing game.

22. [CIN - DT Geno Atkins set to make season debut](
Source: ESPN.com - Ben Baby
Cincinnati Bengals DT Geno Atkins (shoulder) is expected to play in Week 5 against the Baltimore Ravens after missing the first four games of the season with a shoulder injury, according to head coach Zac Taylor.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Atkins could help change the complexion of this defense since he'll line up next to big ticket free agent signing DJ Reader. He returns just in time to face one of the best running games in the league.

23. [SF - San Francisco's injury report for Week 5]()
Source: 49ers.com
San Francisco 49ers CB Dontae Johnson (groin) and CB Emmanuel Moseley (concussion) did not practice all week and have been ruled out for Week 5 against the Miami Dolphins. WR [Deebo Samuel](=) (illness) not practice for a second straight day Friday, Oct. 9, and is listed as questionable. RB [Raheem Mostert](=) (knee) and CB Ahkello Witherspoon were limited in practice all week and are also listed as questionable. DL Arik Armstead (non-injury) did not practice Friday but is expected to play. QB [Jimmy Garoppolo](=) (ankle), LB Dre Greenlaw (quad), WR [Dante Pettis](=) (knee), WR [Trent Taylor](=) (ankle) and DB Jimmie Ward (wrist) practiced in full Friday and no longer appear on the injury report.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
We'll watch Samuel's status leading up to Sunday afternoon. If he can't go, Brandon Aiyuk should see more touches, although he'll be facing the best pair of outside corners in the league.

[]
24. [LAC - Friday's practice report for LA Chargers](=)
Source: Chargers.com
Los Angeles Chargers OT Bryan Bulaga (back) and OG Trai Turner (groin) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 9. DE Joey Bosa (triceps, knee), QB [Tyrod Taylor](=) (ribs, chest) and WR [Mike Williams](=) (hamstring) were limited. S Nasir Adderley (shoulder), OL Dan Feeney (elbow), S Rayshawn Jenkins (groin), LS Cole Mazza (ankle), LB Kenneth Murray (ankle), OT Storm Norton (knee) and DT Jerry Tillery (ankle) practiced in full.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
If Bulaga and Turner can't go Monday night, don't expect much from the Chargers running game against the Saints. Williams getting in a limited practice gives him a chance to play, but he's tough to trust in fantasy leagues unless he gets a full practice in tomorrow.
