We're still scrambling like the rest of the Football world. We've got some News and Notes so let's get to it. J --------------------------------------------------------------- A. [The Audible Podcast - Week 3 Waiver Wire]() Cecil Lammey, Sigmund Bloom and Dr. Jene Bramel go over the hot waiver wire pickups. Topics Include - a disaster at running back and why 49ers RB Jet McKinnon could be the best answer this week, not a lot of options out there at wide receiver, why everyone is making a run for Colts TE Mo Alie-Cox, plus more! [] INSIDE THIS ISSUE 1. [NYG - RB Saquon Barkley lands on IR](#1) 2. [GB - WR Davante Adams' Week 3 status in limbo?](#2) 3. [NYG - RB Devonta Freeman nearing deal with NYG](#3) 4. [LAR - RB Malcolm Brown had surgery](#4) 5. [DEN - QB Blake Bortles headed to Broncos](#5) 6. [TEN - WR A.J. Brown uncertain for Week 3](#6) 7. [BUF - QB Josh Allen in rarefied air](#7) 8. [SEA - WR Phillip Dorsett out for a bit](#8) 9. [SF - San Francisco hosting RB workouts](#9) 10. [KC - WR Sammy Watkins pronounces himself fit](#10) 11. [TB - TE Rob Gronkowski not high on food chain](#11) 12. [ARI - TE Jordan Thomas signed to active roster](#12) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 1. [NYG - RB Saquon Barkley lands on IR]() Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson New York Giants RB [Saquon Barkley](=) (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee Tuesday, Sept. 22. CB Ryan Lewis was elevated from the practice squad to take Barkley's spot on the roster. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This is a major knee injury for Barkley, but hopefully he can be back in action at the start of the 2021 season. Barkley is a RB1 for Fantasy GMs if he's at full strength and we're hopeful he can get there for next season. The Giants move forward with (likely) Devonta Freeman, Dion Lewis and Wayne Gallman. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [GB - WR Davante Adams' Week 3 status in limbo?]() Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero Updating a previous report, Green Bay Packers WR [Davante Adams](=) (hamstring) is reportedly dealing with a 'minor' hamstring strain, but his status for Week 3 against the New Orleans Saints has yet to be determined, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That's good news for Adams, but we have to see his practice status during the week. Adams may have a minor hamstring injury but it could linger or worsen if not healed properly. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [NYG - RB Devonta Freeman nearing deal with NYG]() Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafolo Free-agent RB Devonta Freeman (Falcons) reportedly agreed to terms on an undisclosed contract with the New York Giants on Tuesday, Sept. 22. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] No surprise here. Freeman could be the lead back in that backfield now that Saquon Barkley (knee) is lost for the year. The Giants have Dion Lewis and Wayne Gallman in the running back room to compete with Freeman for touches. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [LAR - RB Malcolm Brown had surgery]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Los Angeles Rams RB [Malcolm Brown](=) (finger) had surgery to repair his left pinkie finger Monday, Sept. 20, but he's expected to play in Week 3. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Rams are committed to a three-headed RBBC when everyone in the backfield is healthy. Brown should play in Week 3, now we'll see what the status of Cam Akers (ribs) is for Sunday's game against Buffalo. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [DEN - QB Blake Bortles headed to Broncos](=) Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler Free-agent QB Blake Bortles (Rams) is signing a one-year deal with the Denver Broncos this week. Financial terms weren't disclosed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Broncos almost signed Bortles last year. Bortles could be ready for Sunday against the Buccaneers as the primary backup to starter Jeff Driskel. Neither is a great option while Drew Lock is down for a month or so. Do not be surprised if Bortles ends up winning the starting job over Driskel at some point. Lock cannot get back fast enough. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [TEN - WR A.J. Brown uncertain for Week 3]( Source: The Tennessean - Erik Bacharach Tennessee Titans WR [A.J. Brown](=) (knee) appears to be questionable at best to return from a bone bruise in his knee in time to play in Week 3 against the Minnesota Vikings, according to comments made by receivers coach Rob Moore.'When he does get back, whether it's this week or next week, he has to prepared and ready to go from a mental standpoint. He can't lose that edge that he got in training camp,' Moore said. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Keep an eye on Brown's practice status during the week. Friday is the day to watch as if Brown can practice then it could be a good sign for his availability on Sunday against the Vikings. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [BUF - QB Josh Allen in rarefied air](=) Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Mike Florio Buffalo Bills QB [Josh Allen](=) has completed 57-of-81 passes for 729 yards, six touchdowns and no interceptions through two games, making him one of only four quarterbacks in the last decade to throw for at least 700 yards, six or more TDs and zero interceptions in his team's first two games of the season. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Allen has taken his game to another level this year. The addition of star WR Stefon Diggs has helped him out on the field, but Allen himself is throwing with better touch and better accuracy. He's an early candidate in the MVP conversation and showing off the franchise quarterback skill set the team felt he had when they made him a top-10 pick in the 2018 NFL draft. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [SEA - WR Phillip Dorsett out for a bit]() Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero Seattle Seahawks WR Phillip Dorsett (foot) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Sept. 22. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Seattle is moving forward with David Moore as their no.3 wide receiver behind Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf. Dorsett can return to the field in Week 7 since Seattle has a Week 6 bye. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [SF - San Francisco hosting RB workouts]() Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero Free-agent RBs Paul Perkins (Ravens), Karan Higdon (Texans) and Austin Walter (Giants) are among the running backs trying out for the San Francisco 49ers. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The 49ers are getting thin at the position with Tevin Coleman and Raheem Mostert banged up. They've got Jerick McKinnon and Jeffery Wilson as their top two backs going forward. We'll see if they sign one of these free agents later in the week. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [KC - WR Sammy Watkins pronounces himself fit]() Source: Twitter - Sammy Watkins Kansas City Chiefs WR [Sammy Watkins](=) (head) declared he is 'healthy' after taking a helmet-to-helmet shot from Denzel Perryman in Week 2 against the Los Angeles Chargers. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Good news for Watkins here. We're not yet giving up on Mecole Hardman and if you've got the depth on your bench then hold onto him if you'd like. With Watkins healthy, it means he could perform like a flex play or low-end WR3 in Week 3. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [TB - TE Rob Gronkowski not high on food chain]() Source: NFL.com - Nick Shook Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE [Rob Gronkowski](=) received four targets in the first two games, which head coach Bruce Arians said wasn't a surprise. 'We're not throwing the ball 50 times to the tight ends,' Arians said. 'That's what we have receivers for, that's the way our offense is built. Gronk's playing great run blocking in the fourth quarter, so I'm not concerned with his pass catches or his targets.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Gronkowski just doesn't look like himself out there. Not to make excuses for him, but the Buccaneers offense is not yet clicking on all cylinders. We'll see what he can do against a poor defense (when it comes to covering tight ends) in Denver on Sunday. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [ARI - TE Jordan Thomas signed to active roster](=) Source: NFLCommunications.com Arizona Cardinals TE Jordan Thomas was signed to the active roster from the practice squad Tuesday, Sept. 22. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Thomas is a huge target who we're watching in deep dynasty formats. We'll see what he can do with the Cardinals now that he's on the active roster. If he's active on game day, Thomas would make for a nice red-zone target because of his size.
