[ARI - WR DeAndre Hopkins close to extension](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Arizona Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins is close to reaching an agreement on a contract extension with the Cardinals, according to sources. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Good news for Hopkins and the Cardinals here. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [MIA - QB Ryan Fitzpatrick to start]( Source: NBC 6 South Florida - Ruthie Polinsky Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick will start Week 1 against the New England Patriots. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] No surprise here. Tua Tagovailoa, the team's 2020 first-round pick, can be the franchise quarterback of the future but the Dolphins don't think he's ready to start just yet. We should see Tagovailoa take over as the starter at some point this season. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [PHI - No limits on QB Carson Wentz](=) Source: The Philadelphia Inquirer - Jeff McLane Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz (groin) returned to a full practice Monday, Sept. 7. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Good news for the Eagles here. Wentz has the talent to be a top-5 quarterback in this league but he does tend to get banged up. Hopefully this groin injury (and a wonky WR situation) doesn't hold him back in 2020. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [JAX - RB Ryquell Armstead out indefinitely](=) Source: 1010XL AM - Hays Carlyon Jacksonville Jaguars RB Ryquell Armstead will not be ready to play for 'a while,' according to head coach Doug Marrone. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Fantasy GMs are anxious to see how the Jaguars backfield shakes out...although this is a situation to largely avoid in most leagues. Devine Ozigbo and James Robinson should split carries in Week 1 against the Colts. Armstead was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list for the second time this summer recently. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [NO - RB Alvin Kamara discusses recent back issue](=) Source: The Athletic - Katherine Terrell New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara told reporters Monday, Sept. 7, that last week's back issues weren't 'anything to worry about' and 'just required some rest.' Kamara also noted it happened in camp last year as well. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Fantasy GMs are worried about this situation. Kamara dealt with a knee issue for most of the 2019 season and didn't look quite like himself. Hopefully this back injury does not do the same. He's a RB1 and no-brainer starter each week when healthy. Kamara says this is no big deal and most are going to take his word for it and start him in Week 1 against the Buccaneers. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [CIN - WR A.J. Green unlikely to be held back in Week 1](=) Source: The Cincinnati Enquirer - Tyler Dragon Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (hamstring) is expected to be a 'full-go' for Week 1, according to head coach Zac Taylor. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Good news for the veteran receiver here. Green has been working off to the side during training camp as he deals with this injury. No limitations in Week 1 means that Green could perform like a WR3 with upside for Fantasy GMs against the Chargers. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [NE - RB Damien Harris lands on IR]( Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates New England Patriots RB Damien Harris (finger) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Sept. 7. RB J.J. Taylor was signed from the practice squad to replace Harris on the roster. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Harris has talent, and Fantasy GMs are excited to see him get a larger workload, but something always gets in the way. He was looking like a potential starter in camp before this finger surgery. Now, Harris will have to wait until Week 4 at the earliest to return to the field. The Patriots move forward with Sony Michel and James White as their top two backs. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [ARI - TE Jordan Thomas joins Cards](=) Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson Free-agent TE Jordan M. Thomas (Texans) was signed to the Arizona Cardinals' practice squad Monday, Sept. 7. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Thomas is a huge, and we mean huge, target at the tight end position. He can use that size to be a threat in the red zone and is an intriguing prospect for Fantasy GMs in super deep dynasty formats. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [BUF - RB Lamar Miller visiting Bills](=) Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Free-agent RB Lamar Miller (Patriots) is visiting the Buffalo Bills Monday, Sept. 7. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The veteran was released by the Patriots over the weekend. The Bills already have a two-headed backfield with Devin Singletary and rookie Zack Moss. If added, Miller would just give the Bills (or any team) veteran depth. [Check it out here](. --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [SF - WR Deebo Samuel could play Week 1](=) Source: The Associated Press - Josh Dubow San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel (foot) 'has a shot' to take the field in Week 1 versus the Arizona Cardinals, according to manager John Lynch. The current plan is for the team to meet with doctors in training staff on Tuesday, Sept. 8, to determine the proper course of action for Samuel'Deebo has done a fantastic job (in his rehab.) ... I'm a huge believer that when you get injured and you're already in great shape, you tend to heal quicker. Deebo has continued that tremendous work ethic and has remained very positive and upbeat and resolute in his want to be back on the field right away. That goes a long way. We're hopeful but I don't have an answer, because we don't know it yet,' Lynch said. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Potentially great news for the 49ers here. Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk are the top two receivers for the 49ers and they're both banged up. If Samuel can play, that's a big boost for the passing attack. Monitor his status during the week of practice. He could be on a snap count if he is out there for the 49ers against the Cardinals. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [IND - IR stint ahead for TE Trey Burton](=) Source: Colts.com Indianapolis Colts TE Trey Burton (calf) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Sept. 7. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Burton was initially going to be out only a couple of weeks at the start of the regular season. Putting him on IR means the earliest he can return to the field is Week 4. Jack Doyle is the lead tight end for the Colts and is a TE2 with upside. Mo Alie-Cox should get some more work with Burton down for the first month of the season if not more. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [SF - WR Dante Pettis primed to bounce back?]() Source: NBC Sports Bay Area - Jennifer Lee Chan San Francisco 49ers WR Dante Pettis received additional reps during team drills due to injuries to Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk and he has taken advantage of his opportunities, according to manager John Lynch.'A week into camp, the consistency just clicked and we could see from day one his mentality was different. He was doing the things that were asked of him. The guy that we were so excited to draft and add to our team started to show up on that field. He's got to do it when it counts, but every indication is that he's going to be a big part of what we're doing,' Lynch said. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Pettis has always had the talent but he's been in the doghouse of the coaching staff for some time. With improved dedication this offseason, Pettis has been letting that natural talent really impress. We'll continue to monitor him in dynasty formats. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [LAC - RB Justin Jackson should be good to go]( Source: 1 No Source Los Angeles Chargers RB Justin Jackson (hamstring) will be 'fine' to play in Week 1 against the Cincinnati Bengals, according to head coach Anthony Lynn. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jackson was getting plenty of first-team reps at the start of camp before this hamstring injury. Now, rookie Joshua Kelley seems to have taken over that role as a power back behind starter Austin Ekeler. We'll see if Jackson can at least work into a split of touches with Kelley as Ekeler will continue to get more of the touches in the Chargers backfield. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [JAX - RB Devonta Freeman doesn't sign with JAX](=) Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Free-agent RB Devonta Freeman (Falcons) left his visit with the Jacksonville Jaguars without a deal Sunday, Sept. 6. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Jaguars may reconsider this later. After releasing Leonard Fournette, the Jaguars were thought to be going with Ryquell Armstead as their potential starter. Armstead then was put on the COVID/Reserve list for the second time this summer, leading the team to turn to Devine Ozigbo and James Robinson as their top two backs. We'll see if they consider Freeman after the start of the regular season. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 15. [LAC - WR Mike Williams likely game-time decision](=) Source: SportingNews.com - Joe Reedy Los Angeles Chargers WR [Mike Williams](=) (shoulder) is expected to be a game-time decision for Week 1 versus the Cincinnati Bengals, according to head coach Anthony Lynn. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That sounds about right for the big man. Williams would likely be limited if he does end up playing against the Bengals. Rookie Joe Reed would get more work if/when Williams misses time. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 16. [LVR - QB Marcus Mariota headed to injured reserve]( Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates Las Vegas Raiders QB Marcus Mariota (pectoral) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Sept. 7. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Mariota did not look good in camp, largely due to this pec strain. Now, Nathan Peterman will get elevated to the no.2 quarterback behind starter Derek Carr. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 17. [LAR - LAR keeping hope up for RB Darrell Henderson]() Source: The Athletic - Jourdan Rodrigue Los Angeles Rams RB Darrell Henderson (hamstring) is making enough progress in his rehab to make head coach Sean McVay optimistic about his ability to return soon, according to Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Henderson, when healthy, will work into the backfield mix. Malcolm Brown is projected as their starter but rookie Cam Akers should get plenty of work too. When Henderson is back, the Rams are likely to go full RBBC and perhaps even use a 'hot hand' approach at the position. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 18. [DET - Detroit makes it official with RB Adrian Peterson]() Source: DetroitLions.com Detroit Lions RB Adrian Peterson officially signed his one-year contract worth a reported $1.05 million plus incentives Monday, Sept. 7. RB Bo Scarbrough (undisclosed) was placed on the Reserved/Injured list in a corresponding move. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It's officially official now and Peterson is here to give the Lions veteran depth at the position. With rookie D'Andre Swift banged up, Peterson should get work behind starter Kerryon Johnson. With Johnson's injury history, it's a good idea to get Peterson decent work so the starter can stay fresh.
