Thanks To Our Sponsor, [Footballguys Season Long Pro Game Plan](=)
Howdy {NAME},
It's here. The biggest drafting weekend of the year is upon us and we have your back. We've got brand new updates of all our most popular drafting features. I almost feel bad with you folks having this much advantage over the other GMs in your league. But it's not stopping me from sharing.
Sit back, dive in, and go crush your draft.
And this weekend is also the always Super Popular [Footballguys Player's Championship]( Draft-A-Thon. Spots are filling fast but there are some leagues still open as of Thursday night.
We always pick a good cause to support with the Draft-A-Thon. This year $50 from every league will go straight to [the Harbor House Domestic Abuse Shelter](. The Harbor House is an organization committed to aiding victims of domestic abuse in Appleton, WI. They house women and children in need and provide them with support, safety, and advocacy. We have personal experience with this organization and vouch for them. They're doing incredible and important work. You can help support them and play Fantasy Football at the same time.
Love that.
Let's get to it.

The idea is simple. We throw up two players and you click on the one you'd prefer to draft. That's it. You'll then see the results for both your vote compared to other people in the Footballguys Community. And also how it compares to our Footballguys Staff Experts.
All the while, behind the scenes our Mathguys are taking all the other votes pouring in to create a complete list for how we rank all the players at that position. Which you can see too if you're logged in at Footballguys.

1. [TB - Coach backs RB Ronald Jones]()
Source: PewterReport.com - Jon Ledyard
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Ronald Jones is 'our guy,' according to head coach Bruce Arians.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The Twitter-verse is all up in arms today about whether or not Arians is being truthful here. He's simply making a point...Jones is the guy and it's his job to lose. Jones should begin the season as the lead back for the Buccaneers. If he falters, then Leonard Fournette will be there to take over. Stay tuned. This has the makings of the Patriots backfield 2.0 in 2020.

2. [LAC - WR Mike Williams optimism growing]()
Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Darin Gantt
Los Angeles Chargers WR [Mike Williams](=) (shoulder) could play in the team's Sept. 13 regular-season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals, offensive coordinator Shane Steichen said Thursday, Sept. 3. 'Mike's gotta be ready to play,' Steichen said. 'I think Mike has got that mindset to be ready to play, . . . We look forward to having him on September 13.'
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
This shoulder injury is a concern for Williams and Fantasy GMs. Any sort of shoulder problem could prevent him (or make it painful) from going up high to get those lob passes. Williams has a current ADP of WR64 (14.06) in 12-team PPR leagues.

3. [IND - TE Trey Burton to miss a few weeks](
Source: The Athletic - Zak Keefer
Indianapolis Colts TE Trey Burton (calf) probably will miss the first few weeks of the regular season because of his calf injury, according to head coach Frank Reich.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Burton was getting some buzz as a sleeper tight end a few weeks ago, mainly because of his previous working relationship with Frank Reich...but also because he does have a favorable athletic profile. The problem with that? -- Burton has a problem with injuries. He's once again banged up, and this means Jack Doyle is going to be the clear-cut starter at the tight end position.

4. [TB - RB Leonard Fournette's deal worth $3.5M](=)
Source: MMQB - Albert Breer
Updating previous reports, Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Leonard Fournette's one-year contract with the team is reportedly worth $3.5 million, according to sources.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Fournette is going to be the backup to Ronald Jones..for now. If Jones falters, then Fournette will be there to take over in the backfield. He won't be facing the stacked boxes he did when he was with the Jaguars, so Fournette could be quite productive if he gets a large enough role with the Buccaneers.

5. [NE - QB Cam Newton to be starting QB for Pats]()
Source: The Boston Globe - Jim McBride
New England Patriots QB Cam Newton has been named the team's starting quarterback for Week 1, according to a source.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
No surprise here. Newton is the best option for the Patriots and Jarrett Stidham has had his struggles during camp. We'll see Newton lead an offense with a RBBC featuring at least three running backs, and his passing game will have a ton of question marks. Julian Edelman is the top player on the depth chart and after that we'll have to see who emerges with targets and receptions. Perhaps we'll see a lot of receptions for RB James White.

6. [NE - Mo Sanu officially released](=)
Source: NFLCommunications.com
New England Patriots WR Mohamed Sanu was officially waived Thursday, Sept. 3.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Sanu is now free to sign with another team. He failed to impress during his brief time with the Patriots last year and couldn't even make the team this year. No matter where he lands, Sanu won't be in line to produce much.

7. [NE - RB Damien Harris has surgery](=)
Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
New England Patriots RB Damien Harris (finger) recently had surgery on his pinkie finger, which will keep him out a few weeks.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Ah, just like a soap opera, these are the Days of The Patriots Backfield. Harris has talent and could be a starter in this league but he's banged up and buried on the depth chart. The Patriots will once again (always?) use a combination of three or four running backs (Sony Michel, James White, Rex Burkhead) in 2020.
[Back to Top](#top)
---------------------------------------------------------------
[]
8. [TB - RB LeSean McCoy still in the mix]()
Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafolo
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB LeSean McCoy remains an integral part of the team's plans in the passing game and on third down.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
McCoy can catch passes out of the backfield for the Buccaneers if need be. He's not the same as he used to be as a runner but his veteran presence is a good thing for the team...it's just not got a lot of fantasy value. Ronald Jones is the starter, while newly-acquired Leonard Fournette is a nice insurance policy. McCoy is vying for a role behind those two.

9. [ARI - WR Larry Fitzgerald getting rest](
Source: AllCardinals - Howard Balzer
Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (non-injury) will sit out the final practice of training camp Thursday, Sept. 3, making it three straight missed practices. Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury, however, said Fitzgerald is 'resting.'
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
No surprise here. Fitzgerald is a pro's pro and doesn't need every single rep in practice. He's a super deep flex play for Fantasy GMs in 2020.

[]
10. [SEA - WR Josh Gordon back with Seattle](=)
Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
Free-agent WR Josh Gordon (Seahawks) re-signed with the Seattle Seahawks on a one-year, $1 million deal.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
No surprise here. Gordon goes back to the team that knows him well. He'll compete for the no.3 spot on the depth chart behind Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf. Gordon is still suspended by the league but has applied for reinstatement.

11. [DAL - WR Amari Cooper working with trainer](
Source: Dallas Morning News - Michael Gehlken
Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys WR Amari Cooper (undisclosed) has been limited or has been a non-participant in practices since Friday, Aug. 28, due to an undisclosed issue and was seen Thursday, Sept. 3, working with a trainer and resistance cords with a trainer on the field.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
We'll see what's going on with Cooper when more information is disclosed. The Cowboys have Michael Gallup and CeeDee Lamb to pick up the slack in the WR corps if Cooper has to miss time or is limited by whatever this injury is.

12. [PHI - Talks between PHI, TE Zach Ertz stop](=)
Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz's contract extension talks with the Eagles have stopped because the team offered Ertz less guaranteed money in their latest proposal than they did in a proposal in November, according to sources.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
With George Kittle and Travis Kelce paid, Ertz is next in line for a big money deal. Unlike the other two teams, the Eagles do have a talented tight end (Dallas Goedert) waiting to take over. Perhaps the Eagles are thinking they can let Ertz move on after the 2021 season (where he's signed through) and then let Goedert take over.

13. [IND - WR Parris Campbell on track for opener](
Source: The Athletic - Zak Keefer
Indianapolis Colts WR Parris Campbell (concussion) has cleared the concussion protocol and is on track to play in the Week 1 game, according to head coach Frank Reich.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Good news for the speedster here. Campbell has wheels and can get by defenders. Philip Rivers doesn't challenge a defense deep much anymore, so that limits Campbell in his current role.

14. [HOU - QB Deshaun Watson working on new contract](=)
Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson is working hard with the team on a new contract extension, according to sources Thursday, Sept. 3.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The Texans have a real franchise quarterback and they know they'll have to pay him like one in the near future. The contract is expected to be more similar to those of Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson and Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers than to Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes.

15. [MIA - WR DeVante Parker may not be on injury report]()
Source: ESPN.com - Cameron Wolfe
Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker (undisclosed) hopefully will not be on the injury report next week, according to head coach Brian Flores.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Nobody knows what's going on with Parker. Next week, the team will have to disclose the nature (somewhat) of the injury.
