[NO - Tre'Quan Smith set for big year?](#3) 4. [NYJ - RB Kalen Ballage acquired by NYJ](#4) 5. [MIA - Miami gets pick in RB Kalen Ballage trade](#5) 6. [PIT - Anthony McFarland in protocol](#6) 7. [SF - TE George Kittle limited Wednesday](#7) 8. [CLE - TE David Njoku returns to practice](#8) 9. [BUF - WR Stefon Diggs held out of practice](#9) 10. [TB - WR Chris Godwin gets back on the field](#10) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 1. [CHI - RB David Montgomery out 2-4 weeks](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Chicago Bears RB David Montgomery (groin) is expected two to four weeks with a groin injury. He has a chance to be ready for the season opener. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] There is a chance he's ready for the opener and there's a chance he misses Week 1 against the Lions. Fantasy GMs will have Montgomery as a flex play when he's healthy. The Bears have Tarik Cohen, Cordarrelle Patterson, Ryan Nall and Artavis Pierce working to establish a pecking order behind Montgomery. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [CIN - RB Joe Mixon dealing with migraines]() Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero Updating previous reports, Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon (migraines) has been absent from practice due to migraines, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Mixon is in contract negotiations with the team right now but he has been missing practice due to migraines. That should be cleared up before Week 1, but we'll have to see if Mixon can get a new deal before then. He is currently going off the board at RB9 (1.11) in 12-team PPR leagues. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [NO - Tre'Quan Smith set for big year?](=) Source: NewOrleans.Football - Nick Underhill New Orleans Saints WR Tre'Quan Smith id going to have a big 2020 season, according to QB Drew Brees Thursday, Aug. 27. 'Smith is a guy who I think is ready to really blossom and just explode in this offense,' Brees said. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Smith has been set for a big year for some time. He's got talent and the coaching staff likes him but outside of flashing here and there Smith has been disappointing as a pro. With veteran Emmanuel Sanders signed as a no.2 receiver opposite of Michael Thomas it leaves little chance for Smith to do much. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [NYJ - RB Kalen Ballage acquired by NYJ](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport RB Kalen Ballage on Thursday, Aug. 27, was acquired by the New York Jets in a trade with the Miami Dolphins in exchange for a conditional late-round draft pick, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Ballage is reunited with former Dolphins head coach Adam Gase. He's a big-bodied back but doesn't run with authority like most big backs do. Instead, Ballage uses his elusiveness to create space for himself. He can be used as a receiver out of the backfield as well. Ballage is facing an uphill battle to make the 53-man roster behind Le'Veon Bell, Frank Gore and La'Mical Perine. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [MIA - Miami gets pick in RB Kalen Ballage trade](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport RB Kalen Ballage on Thursday, Aug. 27, was traded from the Miami Dolphins to the New York Jets for a conditional late-round draft pick, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Dolphins were going to move on from Ballage anyway. Now, they get a late-round pick for him. The Dolphins have Jordan Howard as their lead back with Matt Breida working as a receiving back/electric back alongside him. Myles Gaskin, Malcolm Perry and Patrick Laird are competing to establish a pecking order behind those two. [Check it out here](. --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [PIT - Anthony McFarland in protocol]( Source: ESPN - Brooke Pryor Pittsburgh Steelers RB Anthony McFarland (concussion) is going through concussion protocol. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The rookie from Maryland has a bit of Phillip Lindsay (Broncos) to his game. He'll go through the protocol then get back out there and compete for a backup spot behind starter James Conner. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [SF - TE George Kittle limited Wednesday](=) Source: NBC Sports Bay Area - Matt Maiocco San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle (hamstring) missed the last 30 minutes of practice Wednesday, Aug. 26, because of a tight hamstring. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Just something to keep an eye on here. Kittle is likely to be eased back into action so this hamstring injury doesn't linger. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [CLE - TE David Njoku returns to practice]() Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku (wrist) is participating in practice Thursday, Aug. 27. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Njoku has talent but we'll have to wait to see him with a different team (likely in 2021) for him to have a chance to start. The Browns picked up Austin Hooper in free agency earlier this year and he'll be the lead at the position. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [BUF - WR Stefon Diggs held out of practice](=) Source: Around The NFL Buffalo Bills WR Stefon Diggs (back) is not practicing Thursday, Aug. 27, as he's dealing with lower-back soreness that the team is monitoring. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Diggs is working with his new teammates to be the no.1 receiver this team has needed for some time. This back injury could linger if not given enough time to heal. The Bills are being careful with their star receiver as Diggs should be the favorite target for QB Josh Allen in 2020. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [TB - WR Chris Godwin gets back on the field]( Source: NFL Network - James Palmer Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (undisclosed) on Thursday, Aug. 27, returned to practice in full pads after sitting out the previous two practices for undisclosed reasons. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Godwin should put up great numbers with QB Tom Brady this year. In 2019, Godwin had a breakout season but the best may be yet to come. Fantasy GMs have Godwin going off the board at WR6 (2.09) in 12-team PPR leagues. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- That'll do it for today, Folks.
