Howdy {NAME},
Good Thursday to you.
We've got a ton of new content for you. Plus the News and Notes from around the league.
But first... Did you know [Major League Soccer is back?](
I'm not going to lie. I don't know much about soccer in general and MLS in particular. This morning, I was the MLS version of [this guy naming the teams.](
But no more. I'm all for sports starting back and that means I'm all in for the MLS return. Now I just need a team.
Hit me up here and reply to this [Twitter thread where I'm asking for help.]() Suggest the team I should pick.
Couple of guiding principles.
If it's something pretentious like "_________ Football Club", don't even start. I'm out.
Mascot has to be cool.
Logo has to be cool.
Fans have to be cool.
And please don't tell me about their "kits". I don't know what that is.
The best thing you can do is tell me the NFL team they compare to. And if they have good beer at their stadium. You know. The important stuff.
Let me know in the Twitter thread today if you can as I need to get on this. Oh, and if any MLS Public Relations people are reading, this email goes out to 455,000 people every day and I'm not saying my fan loyalty can be bought, but it might not hurt to make an offer.
Now let's get to the NFL. Have a great day.

1. [SF - RB Raheem Mostert seeking trade]()
Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
San Francisco 49ers RB [Raheem Mostert]( has requested a trade, according to his agent.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Mostert is projected as the top back for the 49ers entering training camp. He's on the books for two more years and is set to make around $3 million in each season. He wants a bump in pay as his last deal was negotiated when he was a core special teams player. Mostert is much more than that now and was incredibly productive for the 49ers last year as they made a Super Bowl run. We'll see if a new contract can be worked out.

2. [NE - QB Cam Newton's deal official](
Source: NFLCommunications.com
New England Patriots QB [Cam Newton]( officially signed his contract with the Patriots Wednesday, July 8. Official terms of the contract were not disclosed.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Newton gets his fresh start with the Patriots and will now compete for the starting job. His primary competition will be second-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham. If Newton is healthy after spending most of 2019 on Injured Reserve, then the former MVP should have no trouble winning the top spot.

3. [KC - Andy Reid not close to done]()
Source: NFL.com - Kevin Patra
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, 62, said he's not close to retiring soon.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Reid still has plenty of coaching left to do. With the Chiefs wrapping up QB Patrick Mahomes for the next decade-plus, Reid's team is in a championship window. We'll see the parts around Mahomes change over time but Reid's system is tried and true.

4. [PHI - Quez Watkins signs rookie deal]()
Source: PhiladelphiaEagles.com
Philadelphia Eagles sixth-round draft choice WR Quez Watkins signed a four-year contract with the Eagles Wednesday, July 8. Financial terms were not disclosed.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Watkins has speed, speed and more speed to his game. In addition to speed that can blow by defenders, Watkins has good length and does a good job of tracking deep passes over his shoulders. He's got 'late hands' and doesn't tip off defenders that a pass is coming in. Watkins is quick but could use a little more polish to his route running. He's looking to earn a spot near the end of the depth chart, but Watkins has the ability to one day be a starter in the NFL. Keep an eye on him in deep dynasty formats.

5. [TEN - Darrynton Evans on third down?](=)
Source: The Tennessean - Erik Bacharach
Tennessee Titans third-round pick RB Darrynton Evans is expected to fill RB [Dion Lewis](' role on third down.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Evans played running back and even a little slot receiver earlier in his college career at Appalachian State. He was the starter over the last two seasons and displayed a decisive running style with little wasted motion. He catches the ball cleanly and can even be used as a return man if need be.

6. [LVR - WR Chad Johnson to work out for LV?](
Source: Las Vegas Review Journal - Mark Anderson
Free-agent WR [Chad Johnson]( (Patriots) tweeted that he was preparing for a workout with the Las Vegas Raiders. A Raiders spokesman said he wasn't aware of any scheduled workouts with Johnson, who last played in the NFL in the 2011 season with the New England Patriots.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Johnson is 42-years old and his best days as a wide receiver are far behind him. However, he was set to tryout with the XFL back in January for a kicker position. He's dabbled with kicking before in his football career, never kicking a field goal in the regular season but booting an extra point for the Bengals back in 2009 preseason. Who knows if Johnson is going to try out as a receiver or kicker or if this is just a social networking post where nothing comes to fruition.

7. [TEN - No RB Derrick Henry extension close](=)
Source: TitanInsider.com - Terry McCormick
Tennessee Titans RB [Derrick Henry]( is not close to a long-term contract extension at this point. Henry's representatives have been talking with the Titans this offseason about a new deal.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Henry and the team have until July 15th to work out a long-term deal. He's signed his franchise tender and is set to play in 2020 on a one-year, $10.278 million franchise tag. They'll work diligently to get a new contract worked out by next week's deadline.

8. [TEN - GM would like to meet with DE Jadeveon Clowney](
Source: PaulKuharsky.com - Paul Kuharsky
Free-agent DE Jadeveon Clowney (Seahawks) has received interest from the Tennessee Titans this offseason, but general manager Jon Robinson said he would like to meet with Clowney and have the team doctors examine him before working on a contract.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Last month, Robinson said he believed the Titans were a "pretty good fit" for the veteran pass-rusher. The Browns are likely out now after restructuring the contract for Olivier Vernon. That leaves the Seahawks, Raiders and perhaps the Titans as the most probable landing spot. We should see Clowney sign with a team before training camp.
