[NE - QB Cam Newton could be tagged for 2021]() Source: CBSSports.com - Jason La Canfora New England Patriots QB [Cam Newton]( could be hit with the franchise tag following the 2020 season, as there's no provision in his one-year contract preventing the Patriots from doing so, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports was told. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Patriots have a lot of different options with Newton. If they lose him after one season they'll get a third-round compensatory pick for him. If they franchise tag him it would give them at least right of refusal on Newton if some team wants to pluck him from the roster. The tag would also give the team more time to work out a new contract in 2021 if they wanted to. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [BAL - QB Lamar Jackson focused on silencing critics]() Source: SI.com - Todd Karpovich Baltimore Ravens QB [Lamar Jackson]( has his mind set on winning a playoff game in an effort to silence remaining critics following his MVP 2019 campaign. 'I need to win a playoff game before anything because I'm tired of that already,' Jackson said. 'Once I get tired of something, I have to make it happen. So, that's my goal right now; focus on being a better player all around. Not just a (better) player, but teammate as well.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The critics are still there for Jackson, mainly because of his lack of postseason success. We'll see the Ravens run through the regular season once again and they should win the AFC North title in 2020. Then, Jackson will have to work his magic in the playoffs to see if he can get the Ravens to the Super Bowl. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [PIT - WR JuJu Smith-Schuster may be used in slot more](=) Source: ESPN - Brooke Pryor Pittsburgh Steelers WR [JuJu Smith-Schuster]( may be lined up in the slot more often this upcoming season because of the addition of WR Chase Claypool, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Brooke Pryor. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Smith-Schuster had a down season in 2019 and is looking to bounce back this season...in what could be his final year with the Steelers. With QB Ben Roethlisberger back and healthy, we could see that bounce-back season from Smith-Schuster. He has a current ADP of WR12 (3.10) in 12-team PPR leagues. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [GB - Jordan Love signs rookie contract]( Source: Packers.com Green Bay Packers first-round draft choice QB Jordan Love signed a four-year contract with the Packers Wednesday, July 1. Financial terms were not disclosed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Love has a ton of talent but he needs time to develop as a pro. During his college career at Utah State, Love showed great mechanics and was incredibly bold as a passer down the field. He'll sit behind Aaron Rodgers in 2020 but he's pegged as the future franchise quarterback. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [KC - WR Mecole Hardman a deep threat last season]() Source: ProFootballFocus.com Kansas City Chiefs WR [Mecole Hardman]( posted five touchdowns of at least 25 yards last season, which was tied for most in the NFL. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Hardman's game is all about speed, speed and more speed. The team is going to keep using him as a deep threat as the no.3 receiver behind Tyreek Hill and Sammy Watkins. Hardman is a WR5 with upside for Fantasy GMs. He could thrive if thrust into a larger role. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [GB - AJ Dillon under contract]( Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Darin Gantt Green Bay Packers RB AJ Dillon tweeted a photo of himself signing his four-year rookie contract Wednesday, July 1. Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Dillon is your prototypical power back who can grind down defenses as the game goes on. He makes his living between the tackles where he averaged around 5.0 yards per carry in 2019 for Boston College. Dillon is not a receiving threat, reminding some in the scouting community of former Giants RB Brandon Jacobs. He'll work as a reserve behind Aaron Jones in 2020. [Get the Rookie Scouting Portfolio here](. --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [PIT - WR Anthony Johnson may be PS option](=) Source: Pittsburgh Tribune-Review - Chris Adamski Pittsburgh Steelers WR Anthony Johnson likely will be a strong candidate for the practice squad if he does make the final roster. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Johnson came into the league as an undrafted free agent out of Buffalo in 2019. In two years with the Bulls (JUCO transfer) he caught 133 passes for 2,367 receiving yards and 25 touchdowns. The Buccaneers initially picked him up but he didn't stick with the team and spent most of his rookie season on the Chargers practice squad. At the beginning of 2020 the Steelers signed Johnson to a futures contract. He didn't test well in the pre-draft process, but Johnson can play out wide or in the slot where he has natural hands and a good feel after the catch. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [DET - WR Kenny Golladay made big plays in 2019]() Source: ProFootballFocus.com Detroit Lions WR [Kenny Golladay]( posted five touchdowns of at least 25 yards last season, which was tied for most in the NFL. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Golladay made plays with three different quarterbacks tossing him the rock. Now, Matthew Stafford is healthy and that should help Golladay make an even larger impact in 2020. Golladay has a current ADP of WR8 (3.02) in 12-team PPR leagues. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [PIT - Anthony McFarland to have offensive role](=) Source: ESPN - Brooke Pryor Pittsburgh Steelers RB Anthony McFarland is expected to be a change-of-pack back for the Steelers this upcoming season. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] McFarland reminds some in the scouting community of Broncos RB Phillip Lindsay. The rookie from Maryland has speed and can make a big play happen from anywhere on the field. We'll see how he fits in behind James Conner in 2020. The Steelers have a jam-packed backfield and McFarland's role may not have much fantasy relevance. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [NYG - WR Darius Slayton made big plays last year]() Source: ProFootballFocus.com New York Giants WR [Darius Slayton]( posted five touchdowns of at least 25 yards last season, which was tied for most in the NFL. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Injuries hit the Giants WR corps hard last year but Slayton was a bright spot with his big-play ability. This year, Sterling Shepard and Golden Tate return healthy but they don't stretch the field like Slayton does. We could see Slayton outperform his current ADP of WR38 (8.09) in 12-team PPR leagues. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [CLE - Donovan Peoples-Jones could contribute in return game](=) Source: ClevelandBrowns.com - Andrew Gribble Cleveland Browns WR Donovan Peoples-Jones will compete for a role as the No. 3, No. 4 or No. 5 receiver behind [Odell Beckham]( Jr. and [Jarvis Landry]( in 2020. He's also expected to have a big opportunity to contribute in the return game, according to Andrew Gribble of ClevelandBrowns.com. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The rookie from Michigan tested off the charts at the Scouting Combine, but those measurables never showed in terms of production in college. Peoples-Jones only forced 12 missed tackles in three seasons with the Wolverines. On paper it looks like he could be a great return man, but we'll have to see if that can actually come to fruition in the NFL.
