[NE - QB Cam Newton drew rave review]() Source: MMQB - Albert Breer New England Patriots QB [Cam Newton]('s former offensive coordinator, Norv Turner, told Patriots head coach Bill Belichick that Newton was a great fit. 'My whole deal is, when Cam was healthy, and we were there with him [in 2018], we were 6-2,' Turner said. 'His issue was more health than anything else, and from what I understand, I don't think these are health issues that he can't overcome. He's had the time off now. I think he'll be great.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Newton is healthy now after only playing in two games last year. He broke his foot in the preseason (against the Patriots) and struggled through those two regular season games in his final appearances with the Panthers. Now, Newton will lead the way for the Patriots. Belichick did his due diligence and checked in with multiple sources about the veteran quarterback and obviously liked what he heard. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [NFL - QB Johnny Manziel likely done]() Source: Lubbock Avalanche-Journal - Don Williams Free-agent QB [Johnny Manziel]( (Browns) admitted that his football career is likely in the past. 'In the past, probably, is the way I'd characterize it,' Manziel said, leaning forward and without a moment's hesitation. 'I've finally got to a point where I'm trying to achieve happiness in life, not happiness on the football field.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Manziel was a Heisman Trophy winner in college at Texas A&M and then was selected in the first round of the 2014 NFL draft by the Cleveland Browns. He only lasted two seasons in the NFL before getting bounced out of the league. Manziel then went to the CFL and failed with two teams. His last football was played in the AAF for the Memphis Express in 2019. Manziel will go down as one of the biggest busts in NFL history. [JAX - DaVon Hamilton signs rookie deal]() Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson Jacksonville Jaguars third-round draft choice DT DaVon Hamilton signed a four-year contract with the Jaguars Monday, June 29, worth $4.81 million. The deal includes a $1.065 million signing bonus. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Hamilton only started three games for Ohio State entering the 2019 season. In 2019, he started 14 games for the Buckeyes and posted career-best numbers with 10.5 tackles for loss and 6.0 sacks. At 320 pounds, Hamilton has first-step quickness and uses rip moves to apply interior pressure on opposing quarterbacks. He has violent striking hands and could work his way into the rotation quickly as an early-down defensive tackle. [CLE - Cleveland checked in on QB Cam Newton]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter New England Patriots QB [Cam Newton]( received some interest from the Cleveland Browns during free agency, but the two sides did not have any serious talks. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Browns checked in on Newton but nothing was serious. It's still an interesting note that they looked into the former NFL MVP because they have no.1 overall pick Baker Mayfield entering his third season in 2020. Sure, Mayfield had a down season in 2019 but he's looking to bounce back this year. The Browns worked diligently to add better protection in front of him on the offensive line. We'll see if that helps in what looks like a make-or-break season for the young quarterback. The Browns will have to decide on his fifth-year option after this season. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [ARI - QB Kyler Murray works out with teammates]() Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Charean Williams Arizona Cardinals QB [Kyler Murray]( worked out with a number of his teammates Monday, June 29. WR [DeAndre Hopkins](, WR [Christian Kirk](, RB [Kenyan Drake](, RB [Chase Edmonds]( and TE [Maxx Williams]( are among the players participating in the workout. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Just like a grip of other quarterbacks around the league, Murray is taking it upon himself to lead workouts. This virtual offseason is going to have an impact on teams, but these workouts can help further build or establish chemistry between a quarterback and his weapons. Murray is a QB1 for Fantasy GMs in 2020 and it wouldn't surprise us to see him finish as a top-5 fantasy quarterback. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [MIA - RB Jordan Howard likely for goal line work](=) Source: The Palm Beach Post - Joe Schad Miami Dolphins RB [Jordan Howard]( is likely the top choice for carries anywhere near the goal line, according to beat writer Joe Schad. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] No surprise here. Howard is the big-bodied back who can make his living between the tackles. He can be very effective on short-yardage and goal-line situations. He should be splitting time with Matt Breida in the backfield. Howard has a current ADP of RB35 (7.11) in 12-team PPR leagues.
