[View in Web Browser]( Thanks To Our Sponsor, [The Rookie Scouting Portfolio]( Howdy {NAME}, Good Thursday to you. And dang, y'all crushed the Twitter Retweet contest for the Scott Fish Bowl entry. I have one more entry to give away and I'll do it Friday morning. Look for a callout in tomorrow's email. Today, though we're loaded. We have one of the most popular features of the year in our Wide Receivers to Avoid. We polled the Footballguys Staff and they brought the goods. Plus IDP content and Quality Starts and of course the News and Notes. Let's go. J SITE NEWS A. [26 Overvalued Wide Receivers To Avoid]() It's more than just finding the guys who'll outperform their draft position. It's about avoiding the guys who will underperform and tank your team. We polled the Footballguys Staff on the WRs they're avoiding at their current draft position and this is what they said. B. [Eyes of the Guru IDP Info, Part 1: AFC East](=) John Norton with an overview of defenses in the AFC East with an emphasis on individual defensive players and their fantasy value. C. [Quality Starts: Running Backs (PPR)]() "Quality Starts" is a term pioneered from the Fantasy Baseball gurus. It's a statistic that represents how often a starting pitcher will put up a good (not great, just good) performance in a given game. Jeff Pasquino brings it to Football and in this one, applies it to running backs. [] INSIDE THIS ISSUE 1. [DAL - RB Ezekiel Elliott feeling better](#1) 2. The Rookie Scouting Portfolio (RSP) went deeper, saw the elite talent, and urged fantasy players to covet both. [Matt Waldman’s RSP]( has helped fantasy owners go deep and dominate with the likes of Mahomes, Chubb, A.J. Brown, and Lamar Jackson since 2006. [DAL - RB Ezekiel Elliott feeling better](=) Source: USA TODAY Sports - Jori Epstein Dallas Cowboys RB [Ezekiel Elliott]( (illness) said he is feeling better but is not able to work out at this point. Elliott said he dealt with coughing and shortness of breath for a day or two because of COVID-19. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Great news for Elliott and the Cowboys here. It was reported that he had COVID-19 about a week ago and is on the road to recovery. The NFLPA recommended that players do not work out in groups together and obviously Elliott was staying inside while getting healthy. He'll be good to go when training camp rolls around. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [CHI - Teammate expects QB Mitchell Trubisky to start]() Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper Chicago Bears WR [Ted Ginn]( Jr. said he expects QB [Mitchell Trubisky]( to be the starting quarterback this season. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That's a bold statement, especially considering Ginn was playing with the Saints last year. Trubisky is in a make-or-break year in 2020 and he'll have to beat out Nick Foles for the starting job in training camp. It's not an exciting competition for Bears fans or for Fantasy GMs. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [NE - WR Mohamed Sanu ahead of schedule]( Source: ESPN.com - Mike Reiss New England Patriots WR [Mohamed Sanu]( (ankle) is ahead of schedule in his recovery from ankle surgery. He currently weighs 202 pounds, which is less than his official listing by the team. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Sanu's ankle surgery was in March, and his walking boot came off in mid-May, so it sounds like he's still making progress. That ankle injury was a big part of the reason Sanu struggled the second half of 2019, and he didn't look the same on the field. We'll see if he can be 100 percent healthy by the start of the regular season and see what kind of chemistry he can build with Jarrett Stidham (or Brian Hoyer) at quarterback. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [WAS - RB Adrian Peterson wants to play four more]() Source: NFL.com - Kevin Patra Washington Redskins RB [Adrian Peterson](, 35, said he hopes to play four more years in the NFL. 'I don't want to ever be in a position where I look back and say, 'Man, I should have played two more years,'' Peterson told TMZ Sports. ''I should have played another year.' I want to enjoy it. I'm still chasing a championship. You know, I still can play the game at a high level. For those reasons, and having that love and passion for the game, I'm going to continue to keep the ball rolling.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] There is zero reason to doubt Peterson other than Father Time is undefeated. Peterson has proven time and time again that he can still be a consistent and strong runner. Washington has an even more jam-packed backfield this year with guys returning from injury (Derrius Guice, Bryce Love), additions in free agency (J.D. McKissic, Peyton Barber) and the draft (Antonio Gibson). Who knows how much of a role Peterson will have this year, but don't ever count him out. [SF - Jauan Jennings under contract](=) Source: The Athletic - Matt Barrows San Francisco 49ers seventh-round draft choice WR Jauan Jennings signed a four-year contract with the 49ers Wednesday, June 24. Financial terms were not disclosed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jennings is one of the most physical dominant receivers in this draft class. During his college career at Tennessee, Jennings showcased that toughness and strength on slant routes where he could run through arm tackles regularly. He showed up to the Volunteers as a quarterback, even got a start in 2019 as a Wildcat quarterback, and is still learning the nuances of the WR position. We are going to monitor Jennings in deep dynasty formats. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [BUF - QB Josh Allen struggles with deep passes]( Source: BillsWire - Nick Wojton Buffalo Bills QB [Josh Allen]( was on target on only 31 percent of passes that traveled at least 20 yards down the field, according to Pro Football Focus. The average in the NFL was 43 percent. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Allen has poor pass placement. It's not just accuracy, it's where you put the ball and how you can lead your receivers to maximize yards after the catch. We'll see if more time and experience, plus the addition of WR Stefon Diggs, can help Allen be better when throwing deep. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [NYJ - WR Breshad Perriman excited about offense](=) Source: NewYorkJets.com - Eric Allen New York Jets WR [Breshad Perriman]( said he believes the Jets can have a dangerous offense this upcoming season. He said he worked out with QB [Sam Darnold]( earlier in the offseason and is looking forward to the season. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Perriman has the speed to take the top off a defense. With a strong rushing attack, that should lead to some play-action opportunities for the wide receivers in the Jets passing attack. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [NE - Jake Burt could make roster]() Source: PatriotsWire - Isaiah Houde New England Patriots TE Jake Burt is expected to compete for the No. 3 tight end job during training camp. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Patriots have two rookie tight ends, Devin Asiasi and Dalton Keene, who should be at the top of the depth chart. Behind those two, guys like Burt, Matt LaCosse and Ryan Izzo will compete to complete the pecking order.
