[TEN - Tennessee talking with RB Derrick Henry]() Source: TennesseeTitans.com - Jim Wyatt Tennessee Titans RB [Derrick Henry]('s agent has talked with the Titans multiple times over the last few weeks regarding a long-term contract for Henry, according to general manager Jon Robinson. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Henry signed his franchise tag back in early April. He's now on the books for a one-year, $10.2 million price tag. In mid-July there is a deadline for all franchise-tagged players to reach a new long-term deal. We'll see if the Titans can get something done with Henry to keep him around for years. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [LVR - QB Derek Carr plays close to the vest]() Source: Sports Info Solutions Las Vegas Raiders QB [Derek Carr]( has led the league in percentage of throws between one and 10 yards in each of the last two seasons (minimum 200 attempts), attempting 59.3 percent of his passes in that range in 2018 and 58.8 percent in 2019. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Carr doesn't want to push it down the field that much. His game might change a bit this year...if he wins the starting job. Carr has to compete with Marcus Mariota for the top spot on the depth chart at the quarterback position. If he wins, Carr is going to get to throw to rookie first-round pick Henry Ruggs III. His game is all about speed and taking the top off the defense. That should help Carr (or Mariota) be better when attacking downfield. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [NYG - QB Daniel Jones organizes workout program]() Source: New York Post - Paul Schwartz New York Giants QB [Daniel Jones]( gathered up to 20 players in a 'come as you go' workout program in Austin, Texas, which backup QB [Colt McCoy]( helped organize. The sessions ran for two weeks, and included focal points within the offense, such as RB [Saquon Barkley](, WR [Golden Tate](, WR [Darius Slayton]( and WR [Sterling Shepard](. Jones was able to get in sync with his targets using routes designed by new offensive coordinator Jason Garrett. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jones flashed some ability last year as a rookie but that was under former head coach Pat Shurmur. Now, the second-year pro has to learn a new system under Garrett. Getting together with his receivers can only help. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [CLE - RB Kareem Hunt open to any role]( Source: ClevelandBrowns.com - Nathan Zegura Cleveland Browns RB [Kareem Hunt]( said he wants to win and is willing to handle any role the team asks him to this upcoming season. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Hunt is going to play as a reserve behind Nick Chubb this year. He's a valuable back and can hurt a defense as a runner or receiver out of the backfield. While Chubb is a RB1 for Fantasy GMs, there should be enough of a role for Hunt to give him flex appeal in 2020. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [LVR - Henry Ruggs should be ready for camp]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Updating previous reports, Las Vegas Raiders WR Henry Ruggs III (thigh) needed stitches to repair the thigh injury he suffered last week but likely will be ready for training camp, according to a source. He did not suffer any muscular damage during the accident. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Ruggs injured himself when helping a friend move last month. It was not a big deal although there were reports about him using crutches after the injury. Ruggs should be more than fine by the time the regular season starts. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [SEA - QB Colin Kaepernick unlikely an option]() Source: The Seattle Times - Bob Condotta Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll indicated that free-agent QB [Colin Kaepernick]( (49ers) likely will not be an option for the Seahawks. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] There was a time when Kaepernick could have been an option for Seattle. They were interested in bringing him in as a backup to Russell Wilson years ago but nothing ever came to fruition. [TB - Ke'Shawn Vaughn should see a lot of work]( Source: Buccaneers.com - Scott Smith Tampa Bay Buccaneers third-round pick RB Ke'Shawn Vaughn should at least replace the snaps RB [Peyton Barber]( took last season. 'The idea is to get him here and see what he does best,' said general manager Jason Licht. 'We know that he's got good speed. We know that he can catch the ball. We know that he's good in space - he's been very productive there. I think he's capable of playing on all three downs so you can't have too many good backs. You can't just rely on one good back. If you have a guy who can do multiple things, it makes him even more valuable to your team.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We'll see how the rookie competes with Ronald Jones in training camp. Vaughn was always looking for the big play -- sometimes to his detriment -- in college, and that rushing style will follow him to the pros. We'd like to see Vaughn start taking what the defense gives him a bit more often rather than dancing and juking to make a big play that may or may not happen. The discipline at the pro level is much greater on defense and Vaughn could use a little more North-South to his game. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [SEA - RB Rashaad Penny will not be rushed back]() Source: The Seattle Times - Bob Condotta Seattle Seahawks RB [Rashaad Penny]( (knee) is making solid progress in his recovery but will not be rushed back to the field, according to head coach Pete Carroll. Carroll said the team can wait for Penny because of the addition of RB [Carlos Hyde](. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The team added Hyde because Penny is not going to be ready for the start of the regular season. We should see Penny placed on the PUP list for the beginning of the season, forcing him to miss the first six weeks. Chris Carson is the starter and Hyde is the veteran backup. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [LAR - RB Darrell Henderson pronounces himself fit]() Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Curtis Crabtree Los Angeles Rams RB [Darrell Henderson]( (ankle) told reporters during a Zoom call Wednesday, June 10, that he has fully recovered from surgery to address the high-ankle sprain he suffered late last season. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Henderson is going to compete to establish a pecking order in the backfield with Todd Gurley moving on to the Falcons. His main competition will be rookie Cam Akers and veteran Malcolm Brown. All three have differing skill sets, and this may end up being some form of a three-headed RBBC. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [WAS - Ron Rivera addresses signing WR Antonio Brown]() Source: NBC Sports Washington - Peter Hailey Washington Redskins head coach Ron Rivera was asked about signing free-agent WR [Antonio Brown]( (Patriots) during a Wednesday, June 10, Zoom call. 'If you bring in a veteran right now, you're going to stunt the growth of somebody young,' Rivera said. 'We've got some young guys at wide receiver that have shown potential over the last season and now into the offseason. We haven't really had the chance to watch them. I know who [Antonio Brown]( is, I know he's a great player. He's an impact guy,' Rivera added. 'He's also a veteran guy, and we've got some young guys that we need to find out about. Again, that's kind of the approach, we want to see what we have.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Brown wants back into the league and he may find more interest when training camp opens up. On the field, Brown could still make plays as a receiver. Off the field, Brown has problems and would be a distraction unless his behavior changes. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [DET - RB Kerryon Johnson is cool with D'Andre Swift selection](=) Source: MLive.com - Benjamin Raven Detroit Lions RB [Kerryon Johnson]( is pleased with the selection of RB D'Andre Swift in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. 'Look, I knew we were going to draft a running back eventually. I think we got, in my opinion, definitely one of the top two (in the draft). I love having a running back. I love winning games and I think he can help us do that, so I wasn't tripping at all,' Johnson said during a Wednesday, June 10, Zoom call with reporters. 'But just having multiple running backs that are capable of running the ball at an efficient level, whether the style is different or the style is the same, it just takes the stress off one another,' Johnson added. 'This is going to be his (Swift's) first (season) in the league. This is going to be my third. We're all going to have the help of Bo (Scarbrough) and Ty (Johnson) and all those other guys. All our running backs before Huntley and Swift came all started in an NFL game. All of us started multiple (games), so that's something not a lot of teams can say. We got a lot of guys who know how to play, we got a lot of guys who have played and I think we'll all get along just fine.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Johnson may be cool with it now but how will he feel if/when the rookie takes the starting job? Swift has a three-down skill set and was arguably the best running back in the 2020 NFL draft. He can be a solid starter at least if not a star at the pro level. Johnson has skill but injuries and inconsistencies have prevented him from producing at the expected level. We'll see this battle shake out in training camp.
