[MIN - RB Adrian Peterson aiming for Week 16] Source: St. Paul Pioneer Press - John Shipley Minnesota Vikings RB [Adrian Peterson] (knee) hopes to return to practice this week and return for Week 16 Dec. 24 against the Green Bay Packers. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Fantasy owners need to keep an eye on this situation. Peterson is unlikely to play in Week 15, but if all goes well during practice then he could be back for the fantasy championship round in Week 16. Grab him and stash him on your bench if he's out there. [Back to Top] --------------------------------------------------------------- 2. [ATL - WR Julio Jones won't practice Wednesday] Source: Sirius XM NFL Radio Atlanta Falcons WR [Julio Jones] (toe) will be held out of practice Wednesday, Dec. 14, as he continues to nurse his turf toe, according to head coach Dan Quinn. 'We'll see how he feels later in the week,' Quinn said. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Fantasy owners need to keep an eye on this situation. Jones missed last week's game, and he's likely to be questionable for the game against the 49ers in Week 15. If Jones plays against the hapless 49ers, he should be in your lineup. [Back to Top] --------------------------------------------------------------- 3. [DET - QB Matthew Stafford to play with finger injury] Source: Detroit Free Press - Dave Birkett Detroit Lions QB [Matthew Stafford] (finger) is confident he will continue to play through his dislocated right middle ring finger in Week 15 against the New York Giants. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Stafford didn't look fantastic wearing the glove after he injured his finger. He's got a week to get used to what the team is hoping is a minor injury. Stafford, who also played through a broken index finger in 2011, believes this injury is not as serious as that one was, and he may not need to wear a glove either. [Back to Top] --------------------------------------------------------------- 4. [NYJ - RB Matt Forte day-to-day] Source: The Associated Press - Dennis Waszak Jr. New York Jets RB [Matt Forte] (knee) is day-to-day with a right knee injury after undergoing a MRI on Monday, Dec. 12, according to head coach Todd Bowles. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Get Bilal Powell off the waiver wire if you can. Forte was able to practice two full days last week with this knee injury, but he couldn't make it through the game against the 49ers in Week 14. We'll have an update on his status later in the week. [Back to Top] --------------------------------------------------------------- 5. [OAK - Kelechi Osemel fine for Week 15] Source: ESPN.com - Paul Gutierrez Oakland Raiders OG Kelechi Osemele (kidney) is good to go this week after being ruled out with kidney stones last week. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Raiders weren't as effective without Osemele in the lineup. Having him back will better protect QB Derek Carr and help springboard the rushing attack led by Latavius Murray. [Back to Top] --------------------------------------------------------------- 6. [DAL - RB Darren McFadden activated from NFI list] Source: DallasCowboys.com - David Helman Dallas Cowboys RB [Darren McFadden] (elbow) was activated to the active roster from the Non-Football Injury list Tuesday, Dec. 13. RB Darius Jackson was subsequently released. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] McFadden is back in action, but his role should be quite small. He's the change-of-pace back behind starter Ezekiel Elliott. If something were to happen to Elliott, the team would likely use a RBBC featuring Alfred Morris and McFadden. [Back to Top] --------------------------------------------------------------- 7. [TB - 'Nothing wrong' with RB Doug Martin] Source: Florida Football Insiders - Roy Cummings Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB [Doug Martin] has rushed 103 times for just 294 yards (2.9 yards per carry) since his return from a hamstring strain five weeks ago, but head coach Dirk Koetter doesn't appear to be overly concerned about the lack of production so far from his running back. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Martin had a better-than-some-expected day against the Saints on Sunday. He's a RB2 going forward, and he should pay off so long as he continues to get 20 or more touches and perhaps scores a touchdown. The yards per carry haven't been great for Martin, but the workload is there for him to maintain his current fantasy value. [Back to Top] --------------------------------------------------------------- 8. [BUF - WR Sammy Watkins wants to play] Source: BuffaloBills.com - Chris Brown Buffalo Bills WR [Sammy Watkins] (foot) said he plans to play the final three games despite the team almost out of playoff contention. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Watkins has WR1 upside against the hapless Browns in Week 15. He wants to play and head coach Rex Ryan wants to keep his job. It looks like Watkins is going to play. [Back to Top] --------------------------------------------------------------- 9. [ARI - WR Michael Floyd arrested for DUI] Source: USA TODAY Sports Arizona Cardinals WR [Michael Floyd] was arrested early Monday, Dec. 12. Floyd was found asleep at the wheel of his car while it was running, and he was subsequently arrested on two counts of DUI and one count of “obstructing a roadway and failure to obey a police officer.” [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This is his second DUI arrest as he had one coming out of Notre Dame. Floyd may face a team suspension this week, and league action is likely coming in the future once the legal process is done. A free agent in 2017, Floyd isn't doing himself any favors on or off the field. [Back to Top] --------------------------------------------------------------- 10. [CHI - TE MyCole Pruitt joining Bears] Source: St. Louis Post-Dispatch - Jim Thomas Minnesota Vikings TE [MyCole Pruitt] is being signed by the Chicago Bears off the Vikings' practice squad Tuesday, Dec. 13. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] A fifth-round pick out of Southern Illinois in 2015, Pruitt put up some big numbers in college but is still waiting for his chance in the NFL. Pruitt has good hands, and he's got the athleticism to attack the deep seam of a defense. His game is not consistent, and he needs to work better as a blocker if he wants to get a shot with his new team. [Back to Top] --------------------------------------------------------------- 11. [MIA - Dolphins won't activate DE Dion Jordan] Source: The Miami Herald - Armando Salguero Miami Dolphins DE Dion Jordan (knee) will not be activated from the non-football injury list, ending his season. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Dolphins are fighting to get into the playoffs, but Jordan won't be a part of that journey. The number three overall pick in the 2013 NFL draft has likely played his last down with the Dolphins. [Back to Top] --------------------------------------------------------------- 12. [SEA - Two Seahawks head to IR] Source: Seahawks.com Seattle Seahawks RB [Troymaine Pope] (ankle) and FB [Will Tukuafu] (concussion) were placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Dec. 13. Free-agent DL Ronald Powell (Bears) was signed to the active roster in a subsequent move. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Tukuafu is replaced by Marcel Reece, a player the Seahawks just picked up just under two weeks ago. [Back to Top] --------------------------------------------------------------- 13. [ATL - WR Mohamed Sanu should return to practice] Source: Sirius XM NFL Radio Atlanta Falcons WR [Mohamed Sanu] (groin) is expected to return to practice Wednesday, Dec. 14. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That's better than what he got last week (nothing). The 49ers are up next for the Falcons, so the team has no need to rush Sanu back into the lineup. [Back to Top] --------------------------------------------------------------- 14. [HOU - WR Braxton Miller heads to IR] Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson Houston Texans WR [Braxton Miller] (shoulder) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Dec. 13, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Miller's rookie season was cut short to just 10 games. He finishes his first year in the league with 28 targets, 15 catches, 99 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown. A converted college quarterback, Miller is still learning the nuances of the position. As he goes forward in the NFL, Miller will compete for a spot behind DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller. [Back to Top] --------------------------------------------------------------- 15. [MIA - QB T.J. Yates headed to Miami] Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Free-agent QB [T.J. Yates] (Texans) will sign with the Miami Dolphins, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] With Ryan Tannehill likely to miss the rest of the regular season, the Dolphins needed an added quarterback. Yates will be the backup to Matt Moore as the Dolphins try to make it into the postseason. [Back to Top] --------------------------------------------------------------- 16. [PIT - RB DeAngelo Williams could return in Week 15] Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette - Ed Bouchette Pittsburgh Steelers RB [DeAngelo Williams] (knee) as a 'legitimate' chance to play in Week 15 against the Cincinnati Bengals, according to head coach Mike Tomlin. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Williams is a valuable handcuff to Le'Veon Bell, but only fantasy players in deep leagues should be stashing him. [Back to Top] --------------------------------------------------------------- 17. [NE - Josh McDaniels' focus only on current job] Source: CSNNE.com - Phil Perry New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels sidestepped questions about any potential interest in interviewing for the Los Angeles Rams' head coaching position Tuesday, Dec. 13. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] McDaniels is going to be the hottest name in coaching searches this offseason. The Rams offense needs some life injected into it, and McDaniels could do that. He could also groom young quarterback Jared Goff if he were to get the top job. [Back to Top] --------------------------------------------------------------- 18. [DAL - Jaylon Smith's nerve responding] Source: The Dallas Morning News - Jon Machota Updating previous reports, Dallas Cowboys LB Jaylon Smith (knee) has rejuvenated feeling in the nerve in his injured knee, according to owner Jerry Jones. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We're just hoping that Smith can somehow regain his superstar form he had in college at Notre Dame. He was hurt in their bowl game last year on what many considered a dirty play. The Cowboys have been confident that he'd fully recover, and that's why they took him near the top of the second round in the 2016 NFL draft. [Back to Top] --------------------------------------------------------------- 19. [DEN - RB C.J. Anderson sheds knee brace] Source: Broncos Wire - Jon Heath Denver Broncos RB [C.J. Anderson] (knee) has shed his knee brace in his recovery from knee surgery, according to a video he posted on social media Monday, Dec. 12. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Anderson could return for the end of the regular season...and the Broncos need him badly. He wants to return for the Week 17 game against the Raiders, but the decision is up to the team. Anderson will continue to rehab and try to make it back onto the field for the Broncos. [Back to Top] --------------------------------------------------------------- 20. [MIA - Mike Pouncey to IR] Source: Sun-Sentinel - Omar Kelly Miami Dolphins C Mike Pouncey (hip) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Dec. 13. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Anthony Steen will continue to start with Pouncey done for the year. Pouncey has a history of hip injuries, and his status for the offseason program in 2017 is up in the air.
