Volume 21, #141 -- Saturday Night, September 7th, 2019 Note: Unsubscribe instructions are at the bottom of this email [View in Web Browser]( Howdy {NAME}, It's the first Sunday of the Regular Season and not a minute too soon. Let's go. J [] INSIDE THIS ISSUE 1. [NE - WR Antonio Brown joining NE](#1) 2. [OAK - WR Tyrell Williams now No. 1 OAK WR](#2) 3. [WAS - TE Jordan Reed officially ruled out](#3) 4. [ATL - Big year for QB Matt Ryan?](#10) 11. [PHI - QB Carson Wentz in command of offense](#11) 12. [SF - Surgery for RB Jerick McKinnon](#12) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 1. [NE - WR Antonio Brown joining NE](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Free-agent WR [Antonio Brown]( (Raiders) agreed to terms with the New England Patriots Saturday, Sept. 7, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Things change pretty quickly around here. A mere 24 hours ago, Brown was with the Raiders and looking to play on Monday night against the Broncos. Now, Brown has been released by the Raiders and promptly picked up by the Patriots. ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting the deal is $9 million with the chance to earn up to $15 million on a one-year deal. Brown is not eligible to play on Sunday night against the Steelers, but he should be ready for Week 2 against the Dolphins. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [OAK - WR Tyrell Williams now No. 1 OAK WR]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Oakland Raiders WR [Tyrell Williams]( is now the team's de facto No. 1 wide receiver with the release Saturday, Sept. 7, of fellow WR [Antonio Brown](. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Williams gets a bump in expectations as the Raiders No. 1 receiver. Fantasy GMs should consider him a WR3 option in 2019 with this enhanced role. Behind Williams, guys like J.J. Nelson, Ryan Grant and rookie Hunter Renfrow will compete for snaps, targets and touches. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [WAS - TE Jordan Reed officially ruled out](=) Source: NFL.com - Grant Gordon Washington Redskins TE [Jordan Reed]( (concussion) has been officially ruled out of the Week 1 game. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Reed is coming back from his seventh known concussion. He's making positive steps towards returning but is not yet at the point where he can play. Vernon Davis is going to be the lead tight end for Washington on Sunday. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [ATL - WR Julio Jones lands 3-year extension](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero Atlanta Falcons WR [Julio Jones]( have agreed on a three-year, $66 million contract extension Saturday, Sept. 7, which includes $64 million guaranteed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] They have been working on this for some time and the Falcons get it done before the start of the regular season. Jones is now the highest-paid wide receiver in the league and he's under contract through the 2023 season. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [OAK - Questionable tag for JJ Nelson](=) Source: Raiders.com Oakland Raiders WR JJ Nelson (ankle) was limited during practice Saturday, Sept. 7, and is listed as questionable for Week 1. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Nelson is going to be used more since Antonio Brown was released. This ankle injury limited him on Saturday, but the Raiders don't play until Monday night against the Broncos. Nelson's speed will be utilized to stretch the defense, but he's best left on the waiver wire for now in most leagues. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [HOU - WR Keke Coutee questionable](=) Source: HoustonTexans.com Houston Texans WR [Keke Coutee]( (ankle) was limited during practice Saturday, Sept. 7, and is listed as questionable for Week 1. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We'll see if Coutee can actually suit up against the Saints. If he does play, consider him just a deep 'what the heck' flex in Week 1. DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller should get most of the work. We love Coutee's talent but he's got to stay healthy in order to play up to that potential. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [NYG - QB Eli Manning to start while team is in contention]() Source: SNY - Ralph Vacchiano Multiple New York Giants officials have said that QB [Eli Manning]( will remain the starter as long as the team is in the playoff race. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That may not be that long. The Giants have to get off to a winning start and stay on that track if Manning is going to stay the starter. We just don't see that happening for them, especially with their current roster construct and the division they play in. Rookie first-round pick Daniel Jones should be starting around the midway point of the season if not sooner. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [DAL - Negotiations with QB Dak Prescott to continue]() Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Charean Williams Contract negotiations with Dallas Cowboys QB [Dak Prescott]( will continue into the regular season if no deal is finalized by the team's first game versus the New York Giants Sunday, Sept. 8, according to executive vice president Stephen Jones. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Cowboys took care of RB Ezekiel Elliott, now they'll turn their attention to Prescott and WR Amari Cooper. We have a map for Prescott's new contract based on what Jared Goff received from the Rams (four-year, $134 million). We'll see if the two sides can get something done in the near future. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [NO - RB Alvin Kamara to catch 100 balls?]( Source: ESPN.com - Mike Triplett New Orleans Saints RB [Alvin Kamara]( will 'feast on catches' and reach 100 receptions this season now that RB [Mark Ingram]( is with the Baltimore Ravens, according to Mike Triplett of ESPN.com. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We could see that. Projecting him for 80-plus catches is fair and Kamara should get as much work as a runner and receiver out of the backfield that he can possibly handle. He's a no-brainer starter every week. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [ATL - Big year for QB Matt Ryan?]( Source: ESPN.com - Vaughn McClure Atlanta Falcons QB [Matt Ryan]('s reunion with offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter will result in Ryan throwing for more than 5,000 passing yards this season, in the opinion of Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Fantasy GMs are expecting a big season from Ryan too. Ryan has great weapons around him and a balanced offense that can keep opponents on their toes. He's a QB1 and can be a quality starter for you all year. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [PHI - QB Carson Wentz in command of offense]() Source: ESPN.com - Tim McManus Philadelphia Eagles QB [Carson Wentz]( is making quicker decisions this season, according to head coach Doug Pederson. 'It's part of the progression of him and his growth as a young quarterback right now,' Pederson said. 'He's getting to the line of scrimmage, he's seeing things fast, he's redirecting protection, going through his progressions, the ball is coming out of his hand quicker.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Nobody doubts Wentz's talent as a passer, but everyone wants to see if he can stay healthy for the full season. Wentz has not played a full 16-game season since his rookie year in 2016. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [SF - Surgery for RB Jerick McKinnon]() Source: NBC Sports Bay Area - Matt Maiocco San Francisco 49ers RB [Jerick McKinnon]( (knee) had surgery on his right knee Tuesday, Sept. 3, and he said he hopes to be back with the team next season. 'These guys have a good plan for me,' McKinnon said. 'It's about staying mentally in it and support my teammates, and doing what I need to do to make sure I'm healthy coming back next year.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] McKinnon is under contract through the 2021 season. If the 49ers get rid of him next offseason there would be a $4 million cap hit.
