[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Absolutely unbelievable. Luck had a calf/ankle issue that has kept him from practicing this offseason. He's mentally done and now walking away from the game. The Colts offense gets downgraded here with Jacoby Brissett taking over as the starter. We could see them lean more on the rushing attack without Luck in the fold. Some truly shocking news for the NFL and Fantasy GMs tonight. [HOU - RB Duke Johnson to be lead back?](=) Source: Houston Chronicle - John McClain Houston Texans RB [Duke Johnson]( will take over as the starting running back in the wake of RB [Lamar Miller]('s (knee) knee injury, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, and McClain believes Johnson will 'get all the playing time he can handle.' [HOU - Possible ACL tear for RB Lamar Miller]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Updating a previous report, Houston Texans RB [Lamar Miller]( (knee) may have suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in the preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys Saturday, Aug. 24, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Bad news for Miller and the Texans here. Duke Johnson is the next in line on the depth chart but the team might want to keep him more as a change-of-pace back. We'll see if they make a move for a free agent back or perhaps trade with another team to add depth at the position. [CAR - QB Cam Newton to practice this week]() Source: NFL Network - Tiffany Blackmon Carolina Panthers QB [Cam Newton]( (foot) is dealing with a sore foot but will participate in practice this week in preparation for Week 1, according to head coach Ron Rivera. Newton has been ruled out for the final preseason game. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Reports are saying mild foot sprain for Newton, and his practice status is not guaranteed. We'll see if Newton can be ready for the start of the regular season. The Panthers are hopeful their star quarterback will be ready. [DAL - Dallas optimistic that RB Ezekiel Elliott deal can be finalized]( Source: ESPNDallas.com - Todd Archer Dallas Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones believes a contract extension with RB [Ezekiel Elliott]( will be finalized before the regular-season opener Sept. 8, although he doesn't think a deal will happen in the next few days because there hasn't been much recent activity. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Earlier this week, ESPN's Ed Werder (so good to see him back with the four-letter network), reported the Cowboys had offered Elliott a contract that would make him the second-highest paid running back in the league behind Todd Gurley. We'll need to see more in order to get this deal done. Right now, Fantasy GMs are still drafting Elliott as a top-10 pick. If he was not holding out, Elliott would easily be a top-four selection. Erickson Indianapolis Colts RB D'Onta Foreman (biceps) was waived from the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Aug. 24, after the two sides reached an injury settlement. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Foreman has a recovery in front of him that should take all of the 2019 regular season. That means he'll have to work out for a new team next offseason just hoping he can stay healthy and latch onto a roster somewhere. [HOU - RB Lamar Miller carted off]() Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson Houston Texans RB [Lamar Miller]( (leg) was carted off the field after suffering an apparent leg injury during the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 24. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This looks like a season-ending injury but of course we'll have to wait for confirmation. Duke Johnson is on the roster but the team might want to keep him as a satellite back. Damarea Crockett has talent and natural fluidity as a runner, but the team may not want to hand things over to the undrafted rookie from Missouri. [TB - Vincent Testaverde back with TB]( Source: Buccaneers.com - Scott Smith Free-agent QB Vincent Testaverde (Buccaneers) signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Saturday, Aug. 24. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. The team also waived LB Kahzin Daniels (undisclosed) with an injury designation. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This the third time the Buccaneers have added Testaverde, the son of Vinny Testaverde, to the roster this offseason. [MIN - RB Dalvin Cook finds end zone]( Source: NFL.com Minnesota Vikings RB [Dalvin Cook]( rushed for 88 yards and one touchdown on two carries in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 24. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Cook didn't need much time to showcase his playmaking ability. Fantasy GMs are taking Cook off the board at RB10 (2.06) in 12-team PPR leagues. [MIN - QB Kirk Cousins struggles]( Source: NFL.com Minnesota Vikings QB [Kirk Cousins]( went 3-for-13 for 35 yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 24. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Cousins has been fine in the preseason so far but he was bad on Saturday. The Vikings are going to run the ball early and often under OC Kevin Stefanski in 2019, so don't expect Cousins to fill the air with footballs. He's a QB2 for Fantasy GMs this season. [ARI - Seven catches for WR KeeSean Johnson]( Source: NFL.com Arizona Cardinals WR KeeSean Johnson caught seven passes for 85 yards in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 24. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We like the 2019 sixth-round pick out of Fresno State. Johnson has a good size/strength combination and if he cleans up his routes then the Cardinals could eventually have a quality starter. [ARI - QB Kyler Murray has solid game]( Source: NFL.com Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray went 14-for-21 for 137 yards in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 24. He also rushed for nine yards on four carries during the game. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Murray's ADP has taken a bit of a dip recently, but this performance could get him back into the top-10. The rookie has top-10 upside but Fantasy GMs are not going to get much value with picking him at QB12 (10.01) in 12-team PPR leagues. That Arizona offensive line is a concern, but at least Murray is athletic enough to run around and make plays. [NE - TE Lance Kendricks to miss Week 1](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport New England Patriots TE [Lance Kendricks]( has been suspended by the NFL for the first game of the 2019 regular season for violating the league's substance abuse policy. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Kendricks gets popped for one game, joining Ben Watson (suspended four games to start this year) as a suspended tight end for the Patriots. Matt LaCosse has the position mostly all to himself during Week 1 and perhaps the first month of the season if he impresses. [DET - RB Ty Johnson gets some red-zone work]() Source: Detroit Free Press - Dave Birkett Detroit Lions RB Ty Johnson had four carries for nine yards and caught an 11-yard touchdown pass from QB [Matthew Stafford]( against the Buffalo Bills on Friday, Aug. 23. Johnson has earned a shot with the first-team offense, according to the Detroit Free Press' Dave Birkett, who notes Johnson has more speed than the team's other backs and could be a contributor on offense this season. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The receiving touchdown is helpful for Johnson as he wasn't used that often as a pass-catching threat in college at Maryland. The 2019 sixth-round pick is looking for a spot on the 53-man roster behind Kerryon Johnson, C.J. Anderson and Zach Zenner. [TB - QB Jameis Winston to sit out finale]() Source: The Athletic - Greg Auman Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB [Jameis Winston]( will not play in the preseason finale against the Dallas Cowboys Thursday, Aug. 29. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Most every team is going to rest their starters in the preseason finale, so this news about Winston is zero surprise. He's getting drafted as a high-end QB2 (QB13, 10.03) but that Bucs offensive line makes him a risky pick. The upside is there because of his talent, the weapons around him and Bruce Arians running the show on offense. However, Winston is not without risk in this make-or-break season. Make sure to have a good combination of quarterbacks if you get Winston on your roster. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 16. [WAS - Coach impressed by RB Derrius Guice]( Source: NFL.com - Kevin Patra Washington Redskins RB Derrius Guice's performance against the Atlanta Falcons Thursday, Aug. 22, impressed head coach Jay Gruden. 'Looked like he was decisive with his cuts for the most part, ran with some power at times, moved the pile when there wasn't anything there,' Gruden said. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Guice is an impressive player and incredibly natural as a runner. However, he's coming back from a knee injury that cost him all of his rookie season in 2018. Guice also had a few setbacks during his recovery, so select him knowing the risks. [TB - QB Blaine Gabbert dislocates shoulder](=) Source: ESPN.com - Jenna Laine Updating an ongoing story, Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB [Blaine Gabbert]( (shoulder) suffered a dislocated left shoulder Friday, Aug. 23, according to head coach Bruce Arians, but it is still unclear if Gabbert will need surgery. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It's Gabbert's non-throwing shoulder so that is a bit of bad news. We should know if he needs surgery or not in the near future. Pocket passer and perennial backup Ryan Griffin could open the season as the No. 2 quarterback for the Bucs behind starter Jameis Winston.
