[DAL - RB Ezekiel Elliott wants to be highest-paid RB?]() Source: ESPN - Ed Werder Dallas Cowboys RB [Ezekiel Elliott]( reportedly received a contract extension offer from the team that would make him one of the two highest-paid running backs in the league, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This is probably put out there by the team to make their offer look good, but Elliott thinks he deserves more if he didn't accept the deal. The nitty gritty is coming in the next two weeks, we'll see who blinks first. Tony Pollard's value will keep rising in the meantime. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [DAL - WR Amari Cooper has intrinsic muscle strain]() Source: 105.3 The Fan - Shan Shariff Updating previous reports, Dallas Cowboys WR [Amari Cooper]( (foot) is dealing with an intrinsic muscle strain in his foot as opposed to plantar fasciitis, according to Mickey Spagnola of the team's website. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Either way, it is something that could be a nagging issue that affects his play, or it could be nothing. It does give you a little pause if you are taking Cooper in the third round and makes Michael Gallup more attractive in the second half of the draft. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [SF - TE George Kittle back to work](=) Source: Bay Area News Group - Cam Inman San Francisco 49ers TE [George Kittle]( (calf) returned to practice Thursday, Aug. 22, after missing practice last week with a tight calf. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Not that we were moving Kittle down our board after this ailment sprang up, but now we can eliminate it from a list of concerns. Kittle has gained value this summer as no 49ers receiver has emerged to Kyle Shanahan's satisfaction. He'll be the rare tight end that is the #1 target in his pass offense. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [JAX - QB Nick Foles on same page with WRs]() Source: Jaguars.com Jacksonville Jaguars QB [Nick Foles]( has reportedly 'shown good chemistry' with WRs [Dede Westbrook](, [Chris Conley]( and DJ Chark Jr. in practice, according to the team's website. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Foles and company get the Chiefs Week 1, so it could be a hot start for this pass offense. All three receivers and Foles will have low percentage owned GPP appeal in DFS lineups. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [CLE - RB Nick Chubb to see more receptions?](=) Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot Cleveland Browns RB [Nick Chubb]( is expected to see more work catching the football in 2019. 'I think he's going to be special like he was last year,' running backs coach Stump Mitchell said Wednesday, Aug. 21. 'He'll be used a little more in the passing game than he was last year. Nick just continues to improve on the skillset that he has, and I think he has a fantastic skillset.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Chubb can easily be a top four running back before Kareem Hunt returns from an eight game suspension in Week 10 against Buffalo. He's worth a pick in the second half of the first round. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [LAC - S Derwin James to be placed on IR](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Los Angeles Chargers S Derwin James (foot) underwent surgery Thursday, Aug. 22, to repair the stress fracture in his foot and will start the regular season on the Reserve/Injured list. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This is a huge blow to a defense that was looking to take a step to the elite this year. James was the playmaking wild card and will be missed. Backup rookie Nasir Adderley is dealing with a hamstring and might not be 100% for the season opener. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [HOU - Matt Kalil remains sidelined]( Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson Houston Texans OT Matt Kalil (foot) has not practiced this week because of a foot injury, but head coach Bill O'Brien said Kalil will be ready for Week 1. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Cameron Jordan and company will look forward to testing Kalil and one of the league's worst offensive lines Week 1. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [HOU - WR Will Fuller leaves practice]( Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson Houston Texans WR [Will Fuller]( (knee) left practice early Thursday, Aug. 22, but head coach Bill O'Brien said Fuller is not hurt and that the team is managing his snaps during practice. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Fuller is set up for a hot start with Keke Coutee banged up and more targets likely coming his way against the Saints in Week 1. He's worth his modest (considering his scoring history) ADP. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [MIA - RB Kenyan Drake resumes jogging]() Source: The Miami Herald - Armando Salguero Miami Dolphins RB [Kenyan Drake]( (foot) has reportedly ditched his walking boot and was spotted jogging Thursday, Aug. 22. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Dolphins will employ some sort of running back by committee this year with Drake and Kalen Ballage, and Drake is the most proven, but perhaps less regarded back. The offensive line and overall team quality might make it hard for either back to sustain production this year. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [LAC - Nasir Adderley could play in preseason finale]() Source: ESPN.com - Eric D. Williams Los Angeles Chargers S Nasir Adderley (hamstring) has been ruled out for the team's third preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday, Aug. 24, but head coach Anthony Lynn told reporters he 'definitely' wants to get him in the exhibition finale next week versus the San Francisco 49ers. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Derwin James is already out until November at least, so Adderley is on the spot. The Chargers face the Colts Week 1 and might dodge Andrew Luck, but Adderley will be tested eventually. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [HOU - WR Keke Coutee still not ready to practice]() Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson Houston Texans WR [Keke Coutee]( (ankle) remains sidelined with a sprained ankle, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Coutee is very questionable for Week 1, which makes Duke Johnson a very intriguing PPR RB2/Flex in the season opener against the Saints and for however long Coutee is out. Coutee had built a lot of momentum this offseason, but couldn't sustain it through the preseason. He's still worth a pick and stash in the second half of PPR drafts. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [ARI - Bruce Hector traded to Arizona]() Source: PhiladelphiaEagles.com DT Bruce Hector on Thursday, Aug. 22, was acquired by the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for S Rudy Ford in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This is a minor deal but it does highlight how thin the Cardinals are on the defensive line that Hector might make the team. Kerryon Johnson and Mark Ingram get to feast on this matchup in Weeks 1 and 2. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [IND - Johnny Robinson back with Indy](=) Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper Free-agent DT Johnny Robinson re-signed Thursday, Aug. 22, with the Indianapolis Colts. In a corresponding move, the Colts released RB James Williams. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Williams was a favorite of the draft community with pass-catching skills and good yards after contact ability, but he can't seem to hang onto a roster. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [WAS - Offer for Trent Williams turned down](=) Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Darin Gantt Washington Redskins OT Trent Williams recently attracted the interest of the New England Patriots, who reportedly offered a 2020 first-round draft pick to Washington in exchange for the holdout Williams but were turned down, according to multiple reports. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This has been denied but it could be put out to set the price for Williams for other teams. The Patriots (and many teams) could certainly use the services of Williams. He's clearly going to hold out well into the season until he gets traded in a replay of the Duane Brown situation in 2017. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 15. [CHI - WR Anthony Miller could have limited role](=) Source: Chicago Tribune - Dan Wiederer Chicago Bears WR [Anthony Miller]( (ankle) could have a limited role in the offense early in the season as he missed most of organized team activities and minicamp to a shoulder injury and most of the preseason with an ankle injury. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Taylor Gabriel and Javon Wims could see more snaps if Miller brought along slowly and Trey Burton could see more middle of the field targets as long as he is healthy. Miller is still worth a late round stash, but it's a bummer that he's coming into the season banged up after having offseason shoulder surgery to fix a problem that he played with for most of 2018. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 16. [MIN - RB Alexander Mattison drawing praise]( Source: The Athletic - Jay Glazer Minnesota Vikings RB Alexander Mattison has been the talk of training camp and the preseason, according to national writer Jay Glazer. 'I mean, to a man, couldn't stop preaching his gospel,' Glazer said of the Vikings. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Mike Boone has also had a good summer, but Mattison is likely the first one up for touches after Dalvin Cook and the better late round target whether or not you draft Cook. Boone could still be just as valuable if Cook goes down, but Mattison has the edge right now.
