[OAK - WR Antonio Brown returns to practice]() Source: ProFootballTalk.com Oakland Raiders WR [Antonio Brown]( returned to practice Monday, Aug. 19. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Brown's helmet issue is still something he is going to fight for, but the league has already deemed the one he wants to use not up to standards. He may not play in the preseason, but Brown should be ready for Week 1. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [GB - TE Jimmy Graham doesn't need surgery](=) Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky Green Bay Packers TE [Jimmy Graham]( (finger) doesn't need surgery, according to head coach Matt LaFleur. Graham will 'be all right,' said LaFleur. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That's good news for the veteran tight end. He had to leave practice after jamming his finger, and without surgery Graham should be back out there in the near future. There is no question about his Week 1 status. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [SEA - Surgery for D.K. Metcalf]() Source: The Seattle Times - Bob Condotta Seattle Seahawks WR D.K. Metcalf (knee) will have a surgical procedure performed on his knee Tuesday, Aug. 20, according to head coach Pete Carroll, but Carroll said he doesn't expect a long recovery. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It sounds like a knee scope but nothing specific is yet known about this injury. Consider him questionable at best for the start of the regular season. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [NE - WR Julian Edelman activated from NFI list]( Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates Updating a previous story, New England Patriots WR [Julian Edelman]( (thumb) has been activated from the Non-Football Injury list, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Edelman should be good to go for Week 1 of the regular season. He's going to be targeted early and often, and that makes Edelman quite valuable in PPR leagues. We might see him and Josh Gordon as the top two receivers for the Patriots to open the year. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [LAC - S Derwin James to miss to 3-4 months](=) Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Los Angeles Chargers S Derwin James (foot) is expected to miss three to four months, rather than the original timeline of a three-month recovery. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This is a big blow to the Chargers defense. James should be able to return before the team makes a run at the postseason. Expect him to be one of their IR/Designated to Return players. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [JAX - RB Ryquell Armstead a full participant]( Source: The Florida Times-Union - John Reid Jacksonville Jaguars RB Ryquell Armstead (concussion) fully participated in practice Monday, Aug. 19. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Good news for the rookie running back here. He's behind oft-injured starter Leonard Fournette so add Armstead super late in your draft or keep him on your waiver wire speed dial in most re-draft leagues. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [CIN - WR John Ross may return next week](=) Source: ESPN.com - Ben Baby Cincinnati Bengals WR [John Ross]( (hamstring) could return to practice as early as Sunday, Aug. 25, according to head coach Zac Taylor. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Ross can get open deep and take the top off the defense when healthy...it's just the staying healthy part that has been a big problem for him as a pro. Taylor said he believes Ross may be able to play in Week 1 if he gets two weeks of practice. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [NE - WR Demaryius Thomas not ready yet]() Source: ESPN.com - Mike Reiss Updating a previous report, New England Patriots WR [Demaryius Thomas]( (Achilles) participated in a light workout Monday, Aug. 19, but is still on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Thomas is getting back out there to get some light work in and he may be ready in the near future. With Josh Gordon back, the Patriots WR corps is looking better. Getting Thomas back would be a boost too. He's not the same player he used to be, but Thomas is a seasoned veteran who could be a reliable target for Tom Brady. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [BUF - TE Dawson Knox back on field]() Source: The Athletic - Joe Buscaglia Buffalo Bills TE Dawson Knox (hamstring) participated in practice Monday, Aug. 19. He has been sidelined since the start of training camp. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Knox could be the starter for the Bills but he's behind in the competition. In college at Ole Miss, Knox drew some comparisons to Kyle Rudolph because of his all-around ability as a receiver and blocker. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [CAR - QB Cam Newton, RB Christian McCaffrey set to play](=) Source: ESPN.com - David Newton Carolina Panthers QB [Cam Newton]( and RB [Christian McCaffrey]( are scheduled to play with the rest of the team's starters in Thursday, Aug. 22's preseason game against the New England Patriots. 'They've been the gold standard for a long time,'' head coach Ron Rivera said. 'You want to go out and see just how good you are. It is a good measuring stick as to who we can be as a football team.'' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Reporters around the team have marveled at Newton's deep passing in camp. He struggled with shoulder problems last year and had to change his game. With Newton near full strength, we could see a return of the deep pass in 2019. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [DAL - DeMarcus Lawrence expected to return soon]() Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafolo Dallas Cowboys DE DeMarcus Lawrence (shoulder) is expected to be activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list soon. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Lawrence was always expected back before the start of the regular season. He's expected to be limited for a little while, but he's on track to return in time for Week 1. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [IND - D'Onta Foreman sticking with team]() Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson Indianapolis Colts RB D'Onta Foreman (biceps) will remain with the team while rehabbing torn biceps. He's expected to miss four months but the team intends to keep him for next year. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Foreman is ineligible to be designated to return since he was put on I.R. before final cuts. He's a talented big back but injuries have robbed him of the potential he once had. Foreman is no lock for the 53-man roster in 2020. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [TEN - RB Derrick Henry makes long-awaited return]() Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt Tennessee Titans RB [Derrick Henry]( (foot) returned to practice Monday, Aug. 19. It's his first practice since Day 1 of training camp. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] A good sign for the centerpiece of the Titans offense. Henry has a current ADP of RB22 (4.07) in 12-team PPR leagues. If he stays healthy, the veteran back could easily outperform that draft position. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [WAS - RB Derrius Guice scheduled to play Thursday](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Washington Redskins RB Derrius Guice (knee) is scheduled to play Thursday, Aug. 22, in a preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We all know Guice has talent, he just needs to stay healthy so he can put it on full display. This game is likely to be his only action of the preseason. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 15. [TB - Ronald Jones idle]() Source: Tampa Bay Times - Greg Auman Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Ronald Jones (knee) was out of practice Monday, Aug. 19, with a sore knee. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jones has been the subject of many training camp fluff pieces, but when he's played in the preseason we still see the same inconsistencies to his game. We should see Peyton Barber and Jones work in a RBBC for the Bucs in 2019. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 16. [MIA - QB Ryan Fitzpatrick not a lock to start]() Source: The Miami Herald - Armando Salguero Miami Dolphins QB [Ryan Fitzpatrick]( is not cemented as the team's starter, despite him starting the third preseason game, according to head coach Brian Flores. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That's what Flores has to say, but all signs point towards Fitzpatrick beginning the season as the starter. If (when?) he struggles, the team could turn things over to 2018 first-round pick Josh Rosen. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 17. [PIT - WR Diontae Johnson has work to do]() Source: The Athletic - Mark Kaboly Pittsburgh Steelers WR Diontae Johnson won't be used much to start the season, according to Mark Kaboly of The Athletic. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Johnson has speed and explosive playmaking ability but he's far from a finished product. He reminds us of a young Emmanuel Sanders, but like Sanders it might take some time for him to play up to his potential.
