He was also sacked twice. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Cardinals offense looked overwhelmed. This is a reality check to the very positive showing he gave in Week 1. It'll be a roller coaster with him. To be fair, Cam Newton's first preseason was a disaster so we can't read too much into this, but if the trend continues, it could be a bad indicator for this new offense. Williams Los Angeles Chargers S Derwin James (unspecified) is sitting out practice Friday, Aug. 6, with a walking boot on his right leg. The Chargers defense looks like one of the better units in the league, but James is a playmaker who can't be replaced. We should see a bit of Barkley in the dress rehearsal for the regular season aka the third week of the preseason. The team doesn't want to have Newton get banged up in a meaningless game. We'll see if he plays later in the preseason. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Earlier reports said Cooper (heel) is dealing with plantar fascia irritation, but he will be fine. If he's going to play at some point in the preseason then that's a good sign about this injury. Now, the Cowboys just need to find a way to get the veteran receiver a new contract. [LAC - QB Philip Rivers likely to play out deal]() Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Los Angeles Chargers QB [Philip Rivers]( is likely to play out the final season of his current four-year, $83.25 million contract in 2019 before he and the team address a new deal next offseason, according to sources. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Rivers has a cap hit of $23 million in 2019, then he's set to be an unrestricted free agent. 'I think we'd like to see him, but you're talking about a veteran quarterback that's played a lot of football,' LaFleur said via PackersNews.com following Thursday's game. Head coach John Harbaugh said there is an 'outside chance' that doctors will consider seeing if Young's injury will heal without surgery, but that's not what is being recommended.
