[JAX - DE Yannick Ngakoue doesn't report](#23) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 1. [CLE - RB Kareem Hunt to miss start of camp]() Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero Cleveland Browns RB [Kareem Hunt]( (groin) will start training camp on the Active/Non-Football Injury list because of a groin injury. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This should be a temporary issue that only sidelines Hunt for days, not weeks. We'll be watching his usage in camp to get an idea of how much he'll take away from Nick Chubb when Hunt returns from his eight game suspension. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [NYJ - Le'Veon Bell to be limited during camp]( Source: NFL.com - Kevin Patra New York Jets RB Le'Veon Bell will be on a snap count during training camp since he did not play last season, according to head coach Adam Gase. Gase would not say if Bell will play in any preseason games. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Bell should be in excellent shape, so this seems a bit unnecessary. Hopefully it doesn't indicate that Gase will hold Bell back a bit early in the regular season for the same reason. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [LAC - RB Melvin Gordon doesn't report to camp]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Los Angeles Chargers RB [Melvin Gordon]( informed the team Wednesday, July 24, he won't report to training camp due to his desire for a new contract. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It's official, Gordon is holding out. Word came down a couple of weeks ago that Gordon wanted a new deal or to be traded. Gordon is playing on his fifth-year option in 2019 with a cap hit around $5.6 million. He wants the long-term security a new contract comes with but the team doesn't look like they want to budge. In the meantime, we'll see more of Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson for the Chargers while Gordon is away. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [NE - WR Julian Edelman going on NFI list]( Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates New England Patriots WR [Julian Edelman]( (thumb) will start training camp on the Active/Non-Football Injury list because of his thumb injury, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This was expected. He should be back in the next 2-3 weeks, but if he isn't, we will be concerned. Braxton Berrios will get extended work in the slot in Edelman's absence. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [LAC - RB Melvin Gordon on did not report list](=) Source: Chargers.com Los Angeles Chargers RB [Melvin Gordon]( was placed on the Reserve/Did Not Report list Wednesday, July 24. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Chargers are going forward as if Gordon won't play any time soon. The ball is in his court now. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [MIN - Minnesota claims De'Angelo Henderson](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Former New York Jets RB De'Angelo Henderson was claimed off waivers by the Minnesota Vikings Wednesday, July 24, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Henderson has some history with Gary Kubiak and Rick Dennison and the Vikings just released Roc Thomas, so this makes sense. He's still unlikely to make the final roster. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [LAC - NFI list for Russell Okung](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Los Angeles Chargers OT Russell Okung (illness) will start training camp on the Active/Non-Football Illness list, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Okung's issue is "pretty serious" and he might miss all of training camp. We'll get more information on this tomorrow from Okung himself. The Chargers already had a weak spot at right tackle in Sam Tevi, and 2018 UDFA or 2019 third-round small schooler Trey Pipkins would be the next men up. If Okung misses time, the Chargers line will be in a bad spot. 2017 second-rounder Forrest Lamp has been a non-factor after tearing an ACL early in his career, but he does have experience at left tackle. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [ATL - WR Julio Jones a couple weeks away](=) Source: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution - D. Orlando Ledbetter Atlanta Falcons WR [Julio Jones]( (foot) remains 10 to 14 days from being fully cleared to practice, according to head coach Dan Quinn. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] No hurries, no worries here with Jones. The team is going to ease him into action as Jones is a seasoned pro and a superstar in this league. That superstar should get a new big-money deal, especially since the Falcons have already taken care of DT Grady Jarrett and LB Deion Jones. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [CLE - RB Duke Johnson will report](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Cleveland Browns RB [Duke Johnson](, who has requested a trade, will report to training camp Wednesday, July 24. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Johnson wants a trade but there are rumblings that Cleveland has received little interest in the veteran back. He's backing up Nick Chubb right now, but when Kareem Hunt comes back from his 8-game suspension he will move further down the depth chart. We'll see if Johnson gets more interest during training camp if some team loses a running back to injury. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [TB - DE Jason Pierre-Paul not ready for practice]( Source: Buccaneers.com - Carmen Vitali Tampa Bay Buccaneers DE Jason Pierre-Paul (neck) was placed on the Active/Non-Football Injury list Wednesday, July 24. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It's unclear when Pierre-Paul will be back. In the meantime, the team will have to count on Carl Nassib, William Gholston, and Noah Spence for pressure from the edge. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [WAS - RB Derrius Guice a full participant]() Source: ESPN.com - John Keim Washington Redskins RB Derrius Guice (hamstring, knee) has been cleared to practice and will be a full participant during training camp, according to head coach Jay Gruden. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It has been a long and winding road for Guice to come back since the ACL tear suffered last preseason. He's in a tough spot to expect success, especially if Trent Williams doesn't report, but this is a rare piece of good news about him over the last year. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [TEN - Dennis Kelly may start at LT]() Source: PaulKuharsky.com - Paul Kuharsky Tennessee Titans OT Dennis Kelly likely will take over the starting left tackle job if OT Taylor Lewan is suspended for the first four games of the 2019 season. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Kelly is one of the better backups in the league and might have been starting at right tackle for Jack Conklin anyway. The Titans are one of the teams more equipped to handle the absence of a starting tackle. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [NE - TE Lance Kendricks joins Pats](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Free-agent TE [Lance Kendricks]( (Packers) signed with the New England Patriots Wednesday, July 24, according to a source. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] With Ben Watson suspended to begin the season and no clear starter on the roster, Kendricks has a chance to make the team, but he's unlikely to have any fantasy relevance in any event. Matt LaCosse is probably going to be the Week 1 starter here. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [CAR - QB Cam Newton on a pitch count](=) Source: Panthers.com Carolina Panthers QB [Cam Newton]( (shoulder) will be on a pitch count in training camp, but he avoided the Physically Unable to Perform list. 'It's going to be structured around our installation. So based on the things that we have as far as going in with our install will dictate what he does,' head coach Ron Rivera said. 'All of his reps will be monitored, they'll be scripted out, and we'll just follow that pattern as we go through it.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That sounds about right. Newton has changed his throwing motion to reduce the amount of torque on his shoulder. We'll see if these steps help him stay healthy in 2019. Don't expect to see a lot of Newton in the preseason, so stay tuned to the reports coming out of training camp. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 15. [NE - WR Demaryius Thomas not a lock]() Source: NFL.com - Gregg Rosenthal New England Patriots WR [Demaryius Thomas]( (Achilles) is a candidate to be released, in the opinion of NFL.com's Gregg Rosenthal, who notes that Thomas was already showing signs of decline before suffering a serious injury. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Thomas is not the same player he used to be. He does know the system as he was a first-round pick of the Broncos in 2010 when Josh McDaniels was their head coach. The Patriots have a banged up WR corps right now, including Thomas, and it's a situation/position to watch during training camp. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 16. [BAL - WR Marquise Brown making progress](=) Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley Baltimore Ravens WR Marquise Brown (foot) passed his conditioning test Wednesday, July 24, but still needs to pass a physical before being cleared to practice. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This is great news, and it could mean that he'll be practicing as soon as next week. If he can start developing chemistry with Lamar Jackson via practice and some preseason action, Brown will have a shot at fantasy relevance this year. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 17. [SEA - Two players to miss start of camp](=) Source: Seahawks.com - John Boyle Seattle Seahawks S Lano Hill (hip) was placed on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list Wednesday, July 24. The team also placed WR Caleb Scott (foot) on the Active/Non-Football Injury list. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Hill's star is falling since the team drafted Marquise Blair, another box safety, in the second round. He might be on the roster bubble if he can't get healthy soon. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 18. [IND - Daurice Fountain activated]() Source: Colts.com Indianapolis Colts WR Daurice Fountain (ankle) was activated from the Active/Non-Football Injury list Wednesday, July 24. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It was a short stay on the list for Fountain, who is probably on the outside looking in for a roster spot after the Colts added Devin Funchess and Parris Campbell and got Deon Cain back from injury. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 19. [CAR - Three headed to PUP list]() Source: The Athletic - Jourdan Rodrigue Carolina Panthers WR [Torrey Smith]( (knee), LB Jermaine Carter (knee) and LB Brandon Chubb (knee) will start training camp on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list, according to general manager Marty Hurney. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Smith already had to take a pay cut to stay on the roster. If he has trouble getting or staying on the practice field, it might be curtains for him. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 20. [CAR - Matt Paradis ready for practice]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Carolina Panthers C Matt Paradis (leg) will not open training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list and will be a full participant during practice. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This is great news, and the team might not miss a beat after the retirement of Ryan Kalil. The line should be in good shape going into the season. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 21. [SEA - Ziggy Ansah to avoid PUP list]() Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero Seattle Seahawks DE Ziggy Ansah (shoulder) will not start training camp on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list but is expected to be limited during the early part of camp, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This is good news for the Seahawks after they lost Jarran Reed for the first six games. Ansah still has to get through camp and the preseason healthy and it's possible that he won't be 100% for the season opener vs. Cincinnati. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 22. [NFL - RB Jay Ajayi cleared]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Free-agent RB [Jay Ajayi]( (Eagles) has been medically cleared to play after meeting with Dr. James Andrews Wednesday, July 24, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Ajayi will probably have to wait for a running back injury to get signed, or at least for teams to have enough time to see that they aren't happy with some of their depth at the position. It's good see that he's cleared in time to get into a camp if a spot opens up. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 23. [JAX - DE Yannick Ngakoue doesn't report]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Updating previous reports, Jacksonville Jaguars DE Yannick Ngakoue didn't report to training camp Wednesday, July 24. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The move was anticipated as Ngakoue wants a new contract. In the final year of his rookie deal, Ngakoue is one of the premiere rushers in the league. Talks have broken down between the two sides according to reports, but this holdout might change the mind of the team. Ngakoue may want a contract that pays him around $20 million annually, and he may get it...stay tuned.
