[JAX - Ryquell Armstead injury update](#28) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 1. [NYJ - RB Bilal Powell back with NYJ]() Source: NewYorkJets.com Free-agent RB [Bilal Powell]( (Jets) agreed to terms with the New York Jets Friday, June 7. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Powell should be the #2 back, and it's not great news for Le'Veon Bell, but probably not bad news either. We still have a track record of unpredictable backfield usage from Jets coach Adam Gase, so this development adds another element that could frustrate us during the season if he is anything more than a few touch a game player. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [KC - WR Tyreek Hill not under investigation]() Source: 1 No Source Kansas City Chiefs WR [Tyreek Hill]( is currently not under investigation for child abuse it was revealed Friday, June 7. 'It is not an active investigation,' Johnson County District Attorney Steve Howe said in an email Friday to the Kansas City Star. 'As in any case, if we receive additional evidence, we reevaluate.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] He is still under investigation by the Kansas Department for Children and Families. The Chiefs and the NFL will likely wait to act until the investigation has completed. He is not on the commissioner's exempt list, but Hill has been suspended from all team activities indefinitely. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [PHI - QB Carson Wentz signs extension]( Source: PhiladelphiaEagles.com - Dave Spadaro Philadelphia Eagles QB [Carson Wentz]( signed a four-year contract extension with the Eagles Thursday, June 6, that will run through the 2024 season. It's a four-year, $128 million extension. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] With everything added up, Wentz now has a six-year, $154 million contract with over $107 million in guarantees. The Eagles clearly aren't concerned about the injury woes that have hampered Wentz over the last two seasons. He's healthy now, and the Eagles hope with this investment that he looks like a perennial Pro Bowl quarterback and leader of the franchise. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [LAR - Darrell Henderson inks rookie deal]( Source: TheRams.com Los Angeles Rams third-round RB Darrell Henderson (Memphis) signed his four-year rookie contract Friday, June 7. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Henderson is one of the hottest names in fantasy right now and for good reason. There is nothing positive around Todd Gurley's knee and Henderson should get a large opportunity with Gurley's workload cut back this year. He could turn a lot of the big runs CJ Anderson had last year down the stretch into touchdowns and be an instant hit even with a fully functional Gurley. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [KC - WR Tyreek Hill likely to show up for minicamp]() Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero Kansas City Chiefs WR [Tyreek Hill]( is expected to practice with the team during minicamp next week as there appear to be 'no signs' his status will change between now and then, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Chiefs may not take any action on their own despite the optics on Hill looking very bad at this point. This situation could change at any moment, but for now it appears Kansas City is planning on keeping Hill. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [PHI - More QB Carson Wentz deal](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Updating previous reports, Philadelphia Eagles QB [Carson Wentz]('s four-year, $128 million extension includes $128 million guaranteed at signing and $107.9 million total guaranteed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This is a full commitment to Wentz at market value despite his numerous injuries at this early juncture in his career. The Eagles will avoid any franchise tag drama and otherwise have done right by Wentz, but if he misses significant time again this year, it might end up being an unwise investment. This deal sets the floor for what Dak Prescott can ask for from Dallas. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [IND - Lofty goal for RB Nyheim Hines]() Source: 1070 The Fan - Kevin Bowen Indianapolis Colts RB [Nyheim Hines]( said he wants to reach '1,000 all-purpose yards' in 2019. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That's not a terribly outlandish goal for the young back. Hines is in a cramped Colts backfield, but his skill set as a runner and receiver is not duplicated by any other back on the depth chart. He had over 700 all-purpose yards last year, so an increase of 300 yards over the course of the season isn't that much. He's currently going off the board at RB48 (11.03) in 12-team PPR leagues. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [ATL - TE Austin Hooper not at practice]() Source: AtlantaFalcons.com - Will McFadden Atlanta Falcons TE [Austin Hooper]( (undisclosed) did not practice Thursday, June 6. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Falcons coach Dan Quinn would not elaborate on why Hooper was out of action. He did indicate that would be revealed next week. Stay tuned. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [ATL - WR Calvin Ridley resting foot]() Source: AtlantaFalcons.com - Will McFadden Atlanta Falcons WR [Calvin Ridley]( (foot) sat out practice Thursday, June 6, with a sore foot. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] A sore foot could be nothing and it could be something more. We'll just have to wait and see if Ridley can get back out there for minicamp. They do have mandatory minicamp coming up June 11th through 13th. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [BAL - Gus Edwards says role not changing](=) Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley Baltimore Ravens RB [Gus Edwards]( said his role in the offense has not changed even though the team added RBs [Mark Ingram]( and Justice Hill this offseason. He said he has been working with the first-team offense during practices. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That's good and all, but Edwards role has to change once the games count. He's unlikely to beat out Mark Ingram for the top spot in the Ravens backfield. Edwards has fantasy value as a volume runner but without a lot of carries (and in a cramped backfield) there's just not much there for him in 2019 unless someone ahead of him on the depth chart gets hurt. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [SEA - Cody Barton signs contract]() Source: The Seattle Times - Bob Condotta Seattle Seahawks third-round draft choice LB Cody Barton signed a four-year contract with the Seahawks Friday, June 7. Financial terms were not disclosed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Barton could be the replacement for Bobby Wagner if Wagner is not signed to a new contract next year. He and Ben Burr-Kirven were drafted this year to provide depth now and maybe start in the future. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [CHI - Chicago unlikely to pursue PK Matt Bryant]( Source: Chicago Tribune - Brad Biggs Free-agent PK Matt Bryant (Falcons) likely will not be an option for the Chicago Bears since he has not handled kickoff duties since 2008 and has not kicked for a cold-weather outdoor team since 2003, in the opinion of The Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Bears should wait until final cuts and add one of the kickers that loses a kicker battle, but performs well this summer. Bryant is proven, but it sounds like he would be a bad fit on the Bears. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [CHI - David Montgomery may have decent role]( Source: Chicago Tribune - Brad Biggs Chicago Bears RB David Montgomery should have the chance to earn a solid role in the offense during his rookie season, in the opinion of The Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Montgomery will be part of a three-man committee at running back. If he can decisively outplay Tarik Cohen or Mike Davis, he might earn a larger role, but for now his ADP might be a little aggressive, assuming the Bears stick with this plan all year. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [WAS - WR Trey Quinn injured]() Source: NBC Sports Washington - JP Finlay Washington Redskins WR [Trey Quinn]( (hamstring) did not participate in practice Thursday, June 6, because of a hamstring injury, but head coach Jay Gruden said Quinn should be fine. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Quinn is in line to be a top target as the starting slot receiver for Washington this year. Hopefully this will be a short-term issue. If it lingers into camp and the preseason, he won't be nearly as good of a PPR late-round flyer. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 15. [IND - WR Deon Cain a few months away from full health]() Source: CBS 4 Indianapolis - Mike Chappell Indianapolis Colts WR Deon Cain (knee) has yet to be cleared to practice but may be ready for the start of training camp, although general manager Chris Ballard told reporters Friday, June 7, that 'it might be early November' before Cain fully regains his playmaking form. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Cain was building a lot of momentum before his injury last year and should make the team as the fourth or fifth receiver this year, although Devin Funchess could temporarily be an obstacle to playing time for him. He's still a strong dynasty hold. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 16. [JAX - Jacksonville scoops up Andrew Lauderdale]( Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates Free-agent OT Andrew Lauderdale (Cardinals) was claimed off waivers by the Jacksonville Jaguars on Friday, June 7. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Lauderdale was released by Arizona to make room for Desmond Harrison after the Browns released Harrison. He has spent time on a few practice squads and played in the AAF earlier this year. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 17. [WAS - Donald Parham lands in Washington](=) Source: Redskins.com Free-agent TE Donald Parham signed an undisclosed contract with the Washington Redskins on Friday, June 7. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Parham is a tall, athletic pass-catching tight end who could land on the practice squad. The clock is ticking on Jordan Reed and Vernon Davis's viability, and Jeremy Sprinkle might be more blocker than receiver. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 18. [NYG - Daniel Jones already making push to start?]() Source: BleacherReport.com - Mike Tanier New York Giants QB Daniel Jones reportedly outplayed [Eli Manning]( during the team's recent minicamp, and it wasn't really close, in the opinion of Bleacher Report's Mike Tanier, who stated Jones was 'sharper, more accurate and more willing and able to challenge the defense with difficult downfield throws.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Giants are irrationally committed to Manning, but once Jones superior play, even at this early point in his career, becomes apparent, they might have to make the rational move. Jones starting won't be great for the Giants fantasy prospects, but it will still likely be better than Manning taking the field. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 19. [SEA - RB Rashaad Penny slim and trim]() Source: NFL Network - Omar Ruiz Updating a previous report, Seattle Seahawks RB [Rashaad Penny]( has reportedly dropped 15 pounds and is being meant toward by Hall of Famer and fellow San Diego State alum Marshall Faulk. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Chris Carson has been out with a knee issue, so Penny will get a lot of chances before training camp to impress the staff and push for more snaps and touches this season. His ADP is modest for a first-round pick on a team that loves to run the ball. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 20. [LAR - Trio of draft picks sign with Rams]() Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper Los Angeles Rams S Taylor Rapp, S Nick Scott and LB Dakota Allen, all draft picks selected in April, signed their rookie contracts with the team Friday, June 7. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Rapp is almost certainly going to be the Eric Weddle replacement, and as soon as next year. He's the marquee name of this group in a "looking to the future" draft class for the Rams. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 21. [WAS - Desmond Harrison also claimed by Washington]( Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates Arizona Cardinals OT Desmond Harrison was also claimed on waivers by the Washington Redskins on Thursday, June 6, when he was placed on waivers by the Cleveland Browns. The Cardinals and Redskins were the only two teams to put in claims. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This is a sign that Washington might be worried about their situation with Trent Williams. If they can't make him happy and get him on the field, the Washington offense will be in a very precarious state. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 22. [SF - More on Joe Staley's deal](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Updating previous reports, San Francisco 49ers OT Joe Staley's deal is worth $36.76 million over three years with $28 million in new money. If he plays 16 games, he'll make $13.5 million in 2019. In 2020, he has a $10.55 million base salary with $4.5 million guaranteed and $700,000 in potential bonuses. In 2021, he'll have an $11.3 million salary with $700,000 in bonuses. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Staley is still playing at a high level at 34, and this should insure that he'll end his career as a 49er after they took him in the first round in 2007. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 23. [JAX - Joshua Allen to miss minicamp]( Source: NFL.com - Herbie Teope Jacksonville Jaguars DE Joshua Allen (knee) is expected to miss the three-day minicamp, according to head coach Doug Marrone. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Allen has a knee bruise and the team is being careful with him. The 2019 first-round pick should be a force to be reckoned with once healthy and getting after the passer. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 24. [OAK - TE Luke Willson showing off hands]( Source: The Athletic - Vic Tafur Oakland Raiders TE [Luke Willson]( has impressed with his receiving skills during spring practices, according to Vic Tafur of The Athletic. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Willson is a good receiver, we just haven't seen as much as we could have during his pro career. He's been in the league since 2013 and his career high in catches is only 22 back in 2014. The Raiders let Jared Cook move on in free agency, so they are looking for a new starting tight end. Willson will be in the mix. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 25. [OAK - Paul Butler working with starters]() Source: The Athletic - Ted Nguyen Oakland Raiders TE Paul Butler has been working with the first-team offense during spring practices. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Butler was undrafted in 2018 out of California University of Pennsylvania. He participated in the Raiders 2018 rookie minicamp on a tryout basis and eventually earned a spot on their practice squad. Butler was signed to the active roster at the end of the 2018 season, but he did not play a down as a rookie. The Raiders let Jared Cook go in free agency, and they are trying to find their next starting tight end. Butler must be doing something to impress since he's working with the first team...we'll monitor his progress in training camp and the preseason. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 26. [SEA - Gary Jennings back on the field]() Source: Sports Radio KJR - Curtis Crabtree Seattle Seahawks WR Gary Jennings (hamstring) participated in practice on a limited basis Thursday, June 6. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jennings is a big and swift possession receiver the Seahawks picked up in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL draft. We'll see how he mixes into the revamped WR corps in Seattle. Jennings could be the No. 3 receiver behind Tyler Lockett and fellow rookie D.K. Metcalf. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 27. [BAL - Marquise Brown out until camp](=) Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley Baltimore Ravens WR Marquise Brown (foot) will not participate in practice until training camp. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That was the plan with the rookie and there's nothing to change that. Brown, the team's 2019 first-round pick, had Lisfranc surgery back in February and was always likely to be ready only when training camp begins. He's on schedule to do that, and there are no known setbacks. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 28. [JAX - Ryquell Armstead injury update]() Source: The Florida Times-Union - Phillip Heilman Updating a previous report, Jacksonville Jaguars RB Ryquell Armstead (hamstring) suffered a slight hamstring injury during practice Tuesday, June 5, but likely will be sidelined until training camp, according to head coach Doug Marrone. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] A fifth-round pick out of Temple in the 2019 NFL draft, Armstead is a chain-moving running back who strikes a defense with great determination and heart. Armstead is not much of a receiving threat and makes his keep by grinding out tough yards between the tackles with instinct and power. He's competing for a spot on the depth chart behind Leonard Fournette and may win the primary backup job if he looks better than veteran Alfred Blue. It's an important spot for Fantasy GMs to monitor as Fournette gets banged up quite a bit. We'll see if Armstead can get healthy and impress in training camp.
