[DAL - WR Cole Beasley vents about role]( Source: Twitter Dallas Cowboys impending free-agent WR [Cole Beasley]( claimed Tuesday, Jan. 22, that the Dallas front office encourages the coaching staff to get the football to certain players. 'I haven't been a huge priority in that regard. Maybe that will change but I'm not sure,' Beasley said. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Coming off a 65-catch season in 2018, there should be more than a few teams interested in Beasley. He doesn't sound like a guy who wants to stay in Dallas. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [KC - Bob Sutton shown the door]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator Bob Sutton was fired Tuesday, Jan. 22. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Sutton has been with Chiefs head coach Andy Reid the whole time he's been in Kansas City. The team is in a Super Bowl window and their defense was a problem for them in 2018...and certainly in the postseason. The offense is geared to outscore anyone but they need a defense that can close a team out. Sutton's firing means a coveted job is coming open for some coach out there. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [OAK - Oakland wants TE Jared Cook back](=) Source: NBC Sports Bay Area - Scott Bair Oakland Raiders impending free-agent TE [Jared Cook]( will be re-signed if head coach Jon Gruden has his way, but Gruden admitted that Cook will be a popular name on the free-agent market. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] In his second season with the Raiders, Cook had a career high 896 receiving yards and six touchdowns (also a career high). Teams should be interested in the soon-to-be 32-year old target who continues to be one of the more athletic tight ends in the league. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [ATL - WR Julio Jones tops in third-down production]() Source: Pro Football Focus Atlanta Falcons WR [Julio Jones]( led all receivers with 24 receptions for first downs on 30 third-down targets this past season. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jones is the centerpiece of the Falcons passing attack and that's not going to change. They've made changes to their offense to get things back on track with Dirk Koetter returning as their OC in place of Steve Sarkisian. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [NFL - Daniel Jones received first-round grade]() Source: Miami Herald - Adam Beasley Former Duke QB Daniel Jones decided to forgo his final year of eligibility after getting a first-round grade from the NFL's draft advisory board, Jones said Tuesday, Jan. 22. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jones has a bit of Carson Wentz to his game. The Duke passer is inconsistent when it comes to decision making and hitting his targets accurately. He's a 'toolsy' quarterback but one that needs more time to develop if at all possible. Jones is currently participating in the Senior Bowl and not exactly making great impressions. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [OAK - Oakland would welcome RB Marshawn Lynch]( Source: Las Vegas Review-Journal - Michael Gehlken Oakland Raiders RB [Marshawn Lynch](, an impending free agent this offseason, hasn't announced whether he plans on playing in 2019, but if he does, Raiders head coach Jon Gruden said Tuesday, Jan. 22, that 'we'd love to have him back.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] There have been reports about Lynch wanting to continue playing football. We'll know if that's coming to fruition soon enough. Lynch is not the same player he used to be and could not be counted on as the lead back if he does return -- to the Raiders or anywhere else -- in 2019. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [SF - RB Jerick McKinnon on road to recovery](=) Source: Sirius XM NFL Radio San Francisco 49ers RB [Jerick McKinnon]( (knee) was recently seen catching passes from QB [Jimmy Garoppolo](, general manager John Lynch said Tuesday, Jan. 22, in an interview. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] McKinnon was supposed to be the top back for the 49ers in 2018 but he missed the entire season due to this knee injury. That led the emergence of Matt Breida in the 49ers backfield. We should see McKinnon and Breida work in a RBBC of some form in 2019. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [SF - QB Jimmy Garoppolo throwing passes](=) Source: Sirius XM NFL Radio San Francisco 49ers QB [Jimmy Garoppolo]( (knee) was throwing passes to RB [Jerick McKinnon]( (knee) recently, 49ers general manager John Lynch said Tuesday, Jan. 22, in an interview. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That's good news for Garoppolo and the 49ers. Head coach Kyle Shanahan believes Garoppolo could be available for OTAs later in the spring. Garoppolo tore his ACL in Week 3 and has been on the road to recovery ever since then. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [NFL - Dwayne Haskins signs with agent]( Source: The Sports Lawyer - Darren Heitner Ohio State quarterback and early NFL Draft entrant Dwayne Haskins on Tuesday, Jan. 22, signed with agent David Mulugheta of Athletes First. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Haskins could be the first quarterback taken off the board in the 2019 NFL draft. The Buckeyes passer is a frequent pick for the New York Giants (no.6 overall) in recent mock drafts. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [NE - Will QB Tom Brady retire with another title?](=) Source: Thebiglead.com - Bobby Burack New England Patriots QB [Tom Brady]( could retire if the Patriots win Super Bowl LIII. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Brady is getting close to retirement as we all know and winning back-to-back Super Bowls would perhaps get him to call it a day. His numbers didn't fall off as much as some thought they would in 2018. Brady finished with 272.2 passing yards per game, his lowest total since 2014 (256.8). [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [MIA - Dowell Loggains given free reign](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains has been granted permission to speak with other teams, according to sources. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Dolphins are revamping their coaching staff, with Patriots LB coach Brian Flores likely to be named head coach after the Super Bowl. Flores will build a new staff on offense that is unlikely to include Loggains. He's expected to join the New York Jets as offensive coordinator and reconnect with former Dolphins head coach (and new Jets head coach) Adam Gase. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [LAR - RB Todd Gurley doesn't have great matchup]() Source: USA TODAY Fantasy Sports Los Angeles Rams RB [Todd Gurley]( has a tough matchup in the Super Bowl against a New England Patriots defense that has quietly stymied opposing running backs of late. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] For the regular season in 2018, the Patriots rush defense ranked 11th best in the league by allowing only a average of 112.7 rushing yards per game. During the postseason, the Patriots rush defense is best in the league only allowing an average of 30.0 (yes, 30!) rushing yards per game. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [DAL - DeMarcus Lawrence could receive tag]() Source: ESPNDallas.com - Todd Archer Dallas Cowboys impending free-agent DE DeMarcus Lawrence could receive the franchise tag this offseason if he is not able to agree to a long-term contract with the Cowboys. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] A second-round pick for the Cowboys in the 2014 NFL draft, Lawrence played for Dallas on the franchise tag in 2018 and earned around $17.1 million. Resigning Lawrence is their top priority this offseason. A second franchise tag would be expensive without locking him up with a long-term deal. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [DEN - DT Domata Peko hopes to return]( Source: ESPN.com - Jeff Legwold Denver Broncos impending free-agent DT Domata Peko said he would like to re-sign with the Broncos this offseason. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Peko has been with the Broncos over the last two years. He played in 16 games (522 snaps) in 2018 and finished the year with 21 tackles, .5 sacks and 2 passes defensed. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 15. [DEN - Two defensive players not expected back]( Source: ESPN.com - Jeff Legwold Denver Broncos impending free-agent LB Shane Ray and CB Bradley Roby are not expected to re-sign with the Broncos this offseason. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Ray didn't get his fifth-year option picked up by the Broncos for 2019. He was inactive over the last few games of the year as a healthy scratch and his time is clearly done. Roby will test the market, as he should, but there might be a small chance that his market is so cold the Broncos could bring him back. New Broncos head coach Vic Fangio should have a much better defense that fits what Roby does well (zone coverage). [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 16. [ARI - WR Christian Kirk excited about new offense]( Source: The Arizona Republic - Bob McManaman Arizona Cardinals WR [Christian Kirk]( (foot) said he is looking forward to playing in the offensive scheme that head coach Kliff Kingsbury will bring to the team. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Kirk should be able to do quite a bit of damage in Kingsbury's 'Air Raid' offense. He made it through 12 games as a rookie in 2018, catching 43 passes for 590 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Kirk also said he will be fully healthy when offseason workouts begin.
