1. [DEN - Denver brings on Rich Scangarello]()
Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
Updating a previous report, former San Francisco 49ers quarterbacks coach Rich Scangarello was hired by the Denver Broncos Wednesday, Jan. 16as their new offensive coordinator, according to a source. Scangarello will call the plays.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Scangarello has a background as a quarterback coach, but should still be committed to the run. He discovered Nick Mullens while he was on the 49ers staff, so the Broncos could pursue Mullens in a trade. He was a Kyle Shanahan disciple before he worked for Shanahan in San Francisco, having worked under him in Atlanta previously. He also modeled his offense after Shanahan's while he was a college offensive coordinator.

2. [JAX - More changes for Jacksonville's coaching staff](
Source: Jaguars.com - John Oehser
Additionally, former Buffalo Bills wide receivers coach Terry Robiskie was hired as the running backs coach, former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive line coach George Warhop was hired for the same position, Jason Rebrovich was promoted to defensive line coach, former Arizona Cardinals assistant coach David Merritt was named assistant defensive line coach, former New York Giants defensive backs coach Tim Walton was named secondary/cornerbacks coach and Jaguars assistant coach Joe Danna was named secondary/safeties coach. Furthermore, assistant coach John Donovan was promoted to assistant running backs coach and assistant coach Scott Milanovich was retained as quarterbacks coach.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Robiskie didn't have much to work with in Buffalo leading a group that was dragged down by Kelvin Benjamin. He has been coaching in the league since 1982 and was actually Oakland's assistant running backs coach from 1985-87, which was the last time he coached that position.

3. [JAX - John DeFilippo officially with Jaguars](
Source: Jaguars.com - John Oehser
Updating a previous report, former Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator John DeFilippo was officially hired by the Jacksonville Jaguars Wednesday, Jan. 16, as their new offensive coordinator.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
DeFilippo was considered a head coach candidate not that long ago. He was part of the smashing success story in Philadelphia in 2017, but didn't make it through his first season in Minnesota. The Jaguars offense has nowhere to go but up, but DeFilippo might be constrained by some of the run-first mentality that he clashed with during his time on the Vikings staff.

4. [NE - Wednesday injury report for Patriots](
Source: Chiefs.com
New England Patriots DL Deatrich Wise Jr. (ankle) was a full practice participant Wednesday, Jan. 16.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Wise should be back this week after missing the win over the Chargers. He'll bolster a pass rush that will be intent on containing Patrick Mahomes and keeping him in the pocket.

5. [KC - Kansas City's Wednesday injury report](
Source: Chiefs.com
Kansas City Chiefs LB Dorian O'Daniel (ankle) did not practice Wednesday, Jan. 16. OT Laurent Duvernay-Tardif (ankle) was limited. SS Eric Berry (heel), CB Kendall Fuller (thumb, shoulder), LB Anthony Hitchens (knee), SS Jordan Lucas (shoulder) and OG Andrew Wylie (biceps) participated fully.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Another week of Eric Berry watch as the scenario the Chiefs kept him on the active roster for as unfolded, but he was not able to play last week.

6. [KC - WR Sammy Watkins has full practice](
Source: Chiefs.com
Kansas City Chiefs WR [Sammy Watkins]( (foot) was a full practice participant Wednesday, Jan. 16.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Watkins was productive and emerged from the divisional round win with no setbacks. If he can get through the playoff season without any problems it will calm some of the fears about his long term outlook now that he has suffered yet another foot injury.

7. [KC - WR Tyreek Hill fully practices](
Source: Chiefs.com
Kansas City Chiefs WR [Tyreek Hill]( (thigh, heel) participated fully in practice Wednesday, Jan. 16.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Hill may have a couple of ailments but he's good to go for the AFC Championship Game against the Patriots.

8. [LAR - RB Todd Gurley will be limited this week]()
Source: ESPN.com - Lindsey Thiry
Los Angeles Rams RB [Todd Gurley]( (knee) will be limited in practice all week despite his knee being fine, according to head coach Sean McVay.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
No surprise here. The Rams went ahead and split carries between Gurley and C.J. Anderson in the Divisional Round. This Sunday against the Saints, we expect them to follow a similar plan.

9. [DET - Detroit adds Darrell Bevell as OC]()
Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero
Former Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell was hired by the Detroit Lions Wednesday, Jan. 16, as their new offensive coordinator.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Bevell interviewed for a few jobs out there but lands with the Lions. He's going to try and get more out of Matthew Stafford and company this year. Bevell loves to run the ball and that should be the emphasis for the Lions offense under his watch. That's potentially good news for Kerryon Johnson.

10. [TB - DT Gerald McCoy done in Tampa Bay?]()
Source: ESPN.com - Jenna Laine
Tampa Bay Buccaneers DT Gerald McCoy has a 'real chance' of being released this offseason, according to ESPN.com's Jenna Laine.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
It would be a shame to see him move on but this is the nature of the NFL, especially at an advanced age and increased contract. McCoy was a first-round pick for the Bucs back in the 2010 NFL draft. He is due $13 million in 2019 and the Buccaneers are $16.5 million under the salary cap.

11. [JAX - Jacksonville could pursue QB Nick Foles]()
Source: 1010XL AM - Hays Carlyon
Philadelphia Eagles QB [Nick Foles]( is expected to be of interest to the Jacksonville Jaguars this offseason.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
This moves makes a lot of sense for both sides. First, they need to find an upgrade over Blake Bortles which Foles could provide. Second, Jaguars new offensive coordinator John DeFilippo is already familiar and connected with Foles as he served as the Eagles offensive coordinator from 2016 to 2017.

12. [PIT - ILB Ryan Shazier to continue rehab](
Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Charean Williams
Pittsburgh Steelers LB Ryan Shazier (back) will maintain his rehabilitation in hopes of playing football again, according to team owner Art Rooney.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Shazier is scheduled to become a free agent this offseason, but Rooney said he is open to re-signing the linebacker. Shazier has been working hard to get back to the football field and should sign for a veteran minimum type of deal.

13. [NYJ - More on Gregg Williams](=)
Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
Updating previous reports, New York Jets defensive coordinator Gregg Williams agreed to a three-year deal, but financial terms weren't disclosed.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Williams gets some time to prove himself as the Jets defensive coordinator...and to prove whether or not he can get along with new Jets head coach Adam Gase.

14. [DEN - Rich Scangarello nearing deal with Denver](=)
Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
San Francisco 49ers quarterbacks coach Rich Scangarello is meeting with the Denver Broncos again Wednesday, Jan. 16, and barring a snag in talks, he's expected to be named the offensive coordinator.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Scangerello came up under Kyle Shanahan, so the return of a Shanahan-type system to Denver won't be foreign to Broncos fans. He's unproven as a playcaller and might lean on new Broncos OL coach (and former head coach) Mike Munchak. Scangarello will work to get the most out of the offense while new Broncos head coach Vic Fangio should make the defense quite intimidating. The hire of Scangarello has to be seen as good news for both Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman as the Broncos should have a run-first/run-heavy offense.

15. [BUF - OLB Lorenzo Alexander extended]()
Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
Buffalo Bills LB Lorenzo Alexander signed a one-year contract extension Wednesday, Jan. 16. Financial terms weren't disclosed.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Alexander has had a remarkable (and unexpected by most) surge to his career over the last three seasons with the Bills. At age 35, Alexander finished his 2018 season with 55 solo tackles, 6.5 sacks and two interceptions. So long as he stays healthy, Alexander is a fine asset for the Bills defense and special teams.

16. [NO - DT Sheldon Rankins to IR](
Source: The Times-Picayune - Josh Katzenstein
New Orleans Saints DT Sheldon Rankins (Achilles') was placed on the Reserve/Injured list on Tuesday, Jan. 15.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
A terrible injury and bad timing for Rankins. This late in the season, Rankins is no lock to begin the 2019 regular season healthy. If there are any delays in his recovery, Rankins might have to begin the 2019 season on the PUP list. We'll know more about his progress as the year goes on.

17. [ATL - Takk McKinley experiences off-field issue]()
Source: AtlantaFalcons.com - Will McFadden
Atlanta Falcons DE Takk McKinley (personal) was involved in a 'situation' that 'could be related to mental-health issues' after he was reportedly detained by police in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Jan. 15.'We were recently made aware of the situation involving Takk in Los Angeles earlier today. Any time a situation occurs that is or could be related to mental-health issues we take it very seriously,' head coach Dan Quinn said in a statement.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
TMZ first reported reports McKinley was with a friend who "became concerned about McKinley's well being" and called police. He went through the procedure with authorities and is back home in Oakland.
