[LAR - DE Aaron Donald agrees to record extension]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Los Angeles Rams DL Aaron Donald is reportedly finalizing a six-year, $135 million contract extension - including $87 million guaranteed - on Friday, Aug. 31, according to a source. The proposed contract would be the richest for a defensive player in NFL history. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Donald has earned it, and the addition of Ndamukong Suh in the offseason could unlock even more of his value. The Raiders will be the first to contend with this duo in Week 1. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [CLE - WR Josh Gordon to resume practicing Monday]() Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot Cleveland Browns WR [Josh Gordon]( (hamstring) is expected to return to practice Monday, Sept. 3. Head coach Hue Jackson told reporters Gordon will be 'a little bit more than limited' and focus on route-running when he gets back. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Gordon isn't a sure thing for Week 1, which is good news for the Steelers defense. We might need to watch him play one week before trusting him in fantasy lineups. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [PHI - WR Alshon Jeffery to come off PUP]() Source: NJ.com - Zack Rosenblatt Philadelphia Eagles WR [Alshon Jeffery]( (shoulder) will be activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list Friday, Aug. 31, according to head coach Doug Pederson, but Pederson wouldn't say how much time Jeffery could still miss. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jeffery will miss at least two games according to Adam Schefter, and we won't be able to trust him in lineups until we see him play, so that's Week 4 at the earliest. Jeffery should be discounted from his healthy ADP at least as much as Mark Ingram and Julian Edelman. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [SF - San Francisco adds Shon Coleman]() Source: Sirius XM NFL Radio - Adam Caplan Cleveland Browns OT Shon Coleman was acquired by the San Francisco 49ers Friday, Aug. 31, in exchange for a 2019 seventh-round draft choice. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Coleman was seen as a potential right tackle or swing tackle for the Browns before they signed Chris Hubbard. UDFA Desmond Harrison has also been a hit, so he wasn't needed. The 49ers have Joe Staley and Mike McGlinchey starting at offensive tackle but must have wanted to improve their depth. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [CAR - Carolina cuts 17 players]( Source: Panthers.com - Max Henson Carolina Panthers DT Tracy Sprinkle, DE Sterling Bailey, LB Richie Brown, LB Chris Frey, CB LaDarius Gunter, S Demetrious Cox, CB Alex Carter, OT Blaine Clausell, OG Norman Price, TE Cam Serigne, WR Rasheed Bailey, WR Bug Howard, OG Quinterrius Eatmon, OT Adam Bisnowaty, TE Evan Baylis and TE Jason Reese were waived Friday, Aug. 31. The team also released RB [Kenjon Barner](. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Barner has bounced around the league as a pass-catching back and could get a call during the season if injuries deplete a backfield. Serigne has some developmental tight end potential and could end up on a practice squad. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [MIN - Minnesota releases 14 players]( Source: Vikings.com Minnesota Vikings OG Kareem Are, OG Kaleb Johnson, WR [Cayleb Jones](, OT Dieugot Joseph, CB Trevon Mathis, RB Kobe McCrary, FB Luke McNitt, LB Mike Needham, QB Peter Pujals, C J.P. Quinn, WR Korey Robertson, LB Brett Taylor, WR Jake Wieneke and LB Antwione Williams were released Friday, Aug. 31. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Robertson had a draftable grade on some analyst boards and could catch on a practice squad. He has a solid build and made downfield plays at Southern Miss. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [DET - Detroit makes first round of moves](=) Source: DetroitLions.com Detroit Lions WR Brian Brown, DT Josh Fatu, TE Marcus Lucas, OT Jamar McGloster, LB Chad Meredith, OG John Montelus, WR Teo Redding, DT Christian Ringo and DE Jeremiah Valoaga were waived Friday, Aug. 31. The team also released DE Cam Johnson, Dexter McDougle and Sterling Moore and placed S Marcus Cromartie (undisclosed) on the Reserve/Injured list. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Redding has excellent measureables and had created some momentum earlier in camp. He could end up on a practice squad. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [NO - RB Shane Vereen going on IR]() Source: The Times-Picayune - Josh Katzenstein New Orleans Saints RB [Shane Vereen]( (undisclosed) will be placed on the Reserve/Injured list, according to a source. He left the final preseason game early Thursday, Aug. 30, and was having his fingers looked at on the sidelines. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Vereen might have been in line to make the final roster as a backup to Alvin Kamara in the passing game, but that went by the wayside when he got hurt. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [PIT - WR Eli Rogers likely to start on PUP list](=) Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler Pittsburgh Steelers WR [Eli Rogers]( (knee) is expected to start the 2018 season on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Rogers will also serve a one-game suspension. Ryan Switzer will have a chance to seize the backup slot job while Rogers is out, assuming the recent trade target makes the team. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [SF - WR Aldrick Robinson cut loose](=) Source: NBC Sports Bay Area - Matt Maiocco San Francisco 49ers WR [Aldrick Robinson]( was released Friday, Aug. 31, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Robinson has been part of multiple Kyle Shanahan offenses, but there was no room for him this year after the team drafted Richie James and Dante Pettis. He could catch on elsewhere during the season if a team needs some outside wide receiver speed. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [CAR - TE Chris Manhertz activated]() Source: The Athletic - Joseph Person Carolina Panthers TE [Chris Manhertz]( (foot) passed his physical Friday, Aug. 31, and has been activated from the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Manhertz was passed by fourth round pick Ian Thomas while he was out. He's a non-factor for the Panthers offense now. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [LAR - Two Rams placed on IR]() Source: ESPN.com - Lindsey Thiry Los Angeles Rams DE Morgan Fox (knee) and DE Ryan Davis (ankle) were placed on the Reserve/Injured list Friday, Aug. 31. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Fox was taking some first team reps at outside linebacker before going down. The Rams will have a thin group at the position, the only weakness in the defense. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [NO - WR Brandon Tate released]() Source: The Times-Picayune - Josh Katzenstein New Orleans Saints WR [Brandon Tate]( was released Friday, Aug. 31, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Tate was seen by some as having a good chance to make the team because of his return abilities. He might get a call during the season if a team loses their return specialist. This could mean Tommylee Lewis made the Saints again this year. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [GB - ILB Oren Burks expected to miss at least Week 1](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Green Bay Packers LB Oren Burks (shoulder) is expected to be ruled out for Week 1 and could miss an additional week or two because of his shoulder injury, according to sources. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Packers traded for Antonio Morrison from the Colts weak linebacker corps, and he might play right away against the Bears in Week 1. That's good for Trey Burton, Tarik Cohen, and Jordan Howard. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 15. [ARI - Arizona likely to get two back from PUP]( Source: The Arizona Republic - Bob McManaman Arizona Cardinals TE [Jermaine Gresham]( (Achilles') and LB Markus Golden (knee) are 'on track' to be activated from the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list prior in time for the season opener, according to head coach Steve Wilks. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That still leaves a wide time frame for both to be active for a game. Ricky Seals-Jones is still a worthy sleeper tight end and there is still no one of note to line up opposite Chandler Jones on the defensive line. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 16. [HOU - WR Braxton Miller given his walking papers](=) Source: Houston Chronicle - John McClain Houston Texans WR [Braxton Miller]( was released Friday, Aug. 31. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Bruce Ellington will be the Week 1 slot receiver, but rookie Keke Coutee will also ramp up to a role soon after he missed most of camp and the preseason with a hamstring injury. The Texans are giving up on a third round pick two years into his career. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 17. [HOU - Houston cuts four]( Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson Houston Texans S Treston DeCoud, NT Kinglsey Opara CB Andre Chachere and PK Nick Rose were released Friday, Aug. 31. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Texans kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn has been out, which forced the Texans to sign Rose, but it appears that they are confident Fairbairn will be ready for Week 1 against the Patriots. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 18. [PHI - QB Christian Hackenberg waived]() Source: NJ Advance Media - Matt Lombardo Philadelphia Eagles QB Christian Hackenberg was released Friday, Aug. 31, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The least shocking final cut of the over 1000 we will hear about this weekend. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 19. [MIA - Greg Joseph released by Dolphins]( Source: The Miami Herald - Barry Jackson Miami Dolphins PK Greg Joseph was released Friday, Aug. 31, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jason Sanders won the kicker competition, but we can't know if he'll win the kicker job for Week 1 until we see if the Dolphins sign a kicker released by another team. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 20. [NYJ - Five players waived by Jets]( Source: SNY - Ralph Vacchiano New York Jets WR [Charles Johnson](, OT Antonio Garcia, OT Darius James, LB Obum Gwacham and C Gino Gradkowski were released on Friday, Aug. 31, according to sources. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Johnson was once a rising size/speed wonder, but is now likely on his last leg as a player potentially threatening for a roster spot. Garcia was a recent second day pick of the Patriots, but it looks like no one is going to be able to make anything of him. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 21. [NYJ - WR Jermaine Kearse may miss Week 1]() Source: New York Daily News - Manish Mehta Updating previous reports, New York Jets WR [Jermaine Kearse]( (abdomen) is feared to be out for Week 1 after a medical procedure on his abdominal injury. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Terrelle Pryor is getting healthy and now will get some snaps in Week 1 against the Lions. Quincy Enunwa and Robby Anderson will be the primary receivers, with Darius Slay locking down one side of the field, but the other a soft spot for Sam Darnold to rely on when it's time to complete a key third down pass.
