[NO - More on QB Teddy Bridgewater deal]( Source: NFL Network - Michael Silver Updating a previous report, New Orleans Saints QB [Teddy Bridgewater]( was acquired from the New York Jets in exchange for a third-round draft pick. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That was the asking price according to rumors, and the Saints had no problem making that decision. Bridgewater will be the backup to Drew Brees in 2018. We'll see if they can sign him to an extension (he's on a one-year deal) and sell him on the idea that he could take over for Brees in the future. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [NO - QB Teddy Bridgewater headed to Saints]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter New York Jets QB [Teddy Bridgewater]( was acquired by the New Orleans Saints Wednesday, Aug. 29, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Jets had been shopping Bridgewater for some time now and finally get a taker. With Sam Darnold set to start the regular season, the Jets didn't need Bridgewater to stick around as a backup. Josh McCown will work as the primary backup to Darnold in 2018. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [MIA - RB Kenyan Drake in line for big workload]( Source: ESPN.com - Cameron Wolfe Miami Dolphins RB [Kenyan Drake]( will be leaned upon heavily by head coach Adam Gase in the 2018 season. 'You'd love to get in that 70-75 plays per game (range) as a unit. If that happens, then you're looking at hopefully anywhere from 15-20 carries and 6-8 targets,' Gase said of Drake. The Dolphins averaged a little over 62 plays in 2017, but are using the no-huddle offense this season. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Fantasy GMs in PPR leagues should be excited about Drake this year. He's currently going off the board at RB19 (4.01) in 12-team PPR leagues. Drake is a low-end RB2 who could finish as a RB1 when all is said and done. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [NYJ - QB Sam Darnold likely to start Week 1]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter New York Jets QB Sam Darnold is almost assuredly the team's starting quarterback heading into Week 1 after the team dealt QB [Teddy Bridgewater]( to the New Orleans Saints on Wednesday. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Darnold is the quarterback of the future and the team hopes he can be their franchise quarterback. He's shown progress during the preseason and they decided to go ahead and throw him into the fire. The rookie will make some mistakes, so Fantasy GMs shouldn't be overly excited about Darnold's value in 2018. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [ARI - QB Josh Rosen will sit this week]( Source: NFL.com - Steve Wyche Arizona Cardinals QB Josh Rosen (thumb) will be held out of the final preseason game this week, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Cardinals want to take it easy on their 2018 first-round pick. Sam Bradford will begin the season as the starter with Rosen working as his backup. For the preseason finale against the Broncos, Mike Glennon should get most of the work. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [MIA - RB Kalen Ballage well down pecking order]( Source: ESPN.com - Cameron Wolfe Miami Dolphins RB Kalen Ballage might earn some reps as the season goes on, but the team plans to lean upon RB [Kenyan Drake]( heavily during the early going, with RB [Frank Gore]( working in short-yardage and goal-line situations as well as providing breathers. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Ballage is third on the depth chart at best. He's a big-bodied receiving back who is more fluid than other backs his size. We are interested in his dynasty PPR value but recognize his redraft value is nearly non-existent barring injury to the guys above him on the depth chart. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [SEA - RB Rashaad Penny shedding cast]() Source: The Tacoma News Tribune - Gregg Bell Seattle Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny (finger) had the cast removed from his broken finger Wednesday, Aug. 29, and has been running well. He is on track to play Week 1. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Penny could play in Week 1 against the Broncos but it will be Chris Carson who leads the way as the team's starter. He recently weighed in at 236 pounds, about 16 pounds heavier than what he checked in at the Scouting Combine. Penny needs to get in shape and prove the team can trust him in pass protection before he gets a ton of work in a rotation with Carson. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [MIA - RB Frank Gore picking up the crumbs]( Source: ESPN.com - Cameron Wolfe Miami Dolphins RB [Frank Gore]( is still expected to be a key part of the team's offense despite the fact head coach Adam Gase is expecting RB [Kenyan Drake]( to see 15-20 carries and 6-8 targets out of the backfield. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Gore is going to be the primary backup to Drake this year. His fantasy value won't be that high but he's at least a 'what the heck' flex player in PPR leagues. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [PIT - Pittsburgh backup QBs garnering interest](=) Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler Pittsburgh Steelers QBs Joshua Dobbs and [Landry Jones]( have been garnering interest from other NFL clubs searching for a backup. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Mason Rudolph is in line to be the primary backup to Ben Roethlisberger in 2018...and he may be the one who takes over when Roethlisberger is done. Dobbs and Jones are not both going to make the 53-man roster. With Teddy Bridgewater (Saints) traded, any teams interested in veteran depth may approach the Steelers for a cheap trade. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [SEA - WR Tyler Lockett extended]() Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafolo Seattle Seahawks WR [Tyler Lockett]( received a three-year extension Wednesday, Aug. 29, with a base value of $31.8 million and a maximum value of $37.8 million, according to a source. He received $20 million guaranteed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Lockett is the no2 wide receiver for the Seahawks in 2018 and he's a potential breakout player for this season. He's a dynamic return man and when healthy can be dangerous as a receiver because of his run-after-the-catch ability. Lockett is going off the board at WR58 (12.12) in 12-team PPR leagues. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [NE - RB Mike Gillislee on Pats' roster bubble]() Source: Boston Herald - Kevin Duffy New England Patriots RB [Mike Gillislee]('s roster spot is in jeopardy as he battles [Jeremy Hill]( and [Brandon Bolden]( and others for the team's fourth running back slot behind [Rex Burkhead](, Sony Michel and [James White](. The roster cutdown to 53 players is Saturday, Sept. 1. 'Every preseason, I feel like it's a little harder for the running backs,' Gillislee said. 'But I'm doing all I can to make make the team or whatever it is, whether it's here or going (elsewhere).' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Hill has been the most impressive out of that group of fourth-string running backs. Gillislee might get a chance elsewhere if he does get cut by the Patriots. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [TB - QB Jameis Winston enjoying strong preseason]() Source: Pro Football Focus Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB [Jameis Winston]( has completed 30 of 41 passes for 388 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in three games this preseason to rank as Pro Football Focus' highest-graded quarterback this August. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Fantasy GMs who take a chance on Winston will have to wait and see if his production in the preseason (against some 2nd-team defenses) can carry over into the regular season. He's a late-round pick you can take a chance on if you waited too long at quarterback and don't like your options. Winston is suspended for the first three games of the regular season. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [GB - QB DeShone Kizer the backup]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter and Rob Demovsky Green Bay Packers QB [DeShone Kizer]( becomes the No. 2 quarterback after the Packers sent QB [Brett Hundley]( to the Seattle Seahawks for a 2019 draft pick Wednesday, Aug. 29. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Once Kizer was added by the Packers, the writing was on the wall for Hundley...especially after he failed to impress in 10 games as a starter for the Packers last year while Aaron Rodgers was hurt. It's not like Kizer was a superb starter for the Browns last year (11 touchdowns, 22 interceptions) but he could look better with better pieces around him. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [SEA - QB Brett Hundley acquired by Seahawks]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter and Rob Demovsky Green Bay Packers QB [Brett Hundley]( was acquired by the Seattle Seahawks Wednesday, Aug. 29, in exchange for a 2019 draft pick. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The writing was on the wall for Hundley since he failed to fill in admirably for an injured Aaron Rodgers in 2017. Hundley now lands with the Seahawks as the no2 quarterback behind Russell Wilson. This move pushes guys like Austin Davis and Alex McGough down the ranks and perhaps off the roster. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 15. [SF - RB Alfred Morris a lock?]( Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Curtis Crabtree San Francisco 49ers RB [Alfred Morris]( appears to have made the team's 53-man roster, based in part on comments by head coach Kyle Shanahan that Morris may not play much in the club's final preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Morris was the lead back for the 49ers in the dress rehearsal for the regular season. With Jerrick McKinnon and Matt Breida still working back from injury, Morris may begin the regular season as the starter or lead back. Stay tuned.
