[BAL - Two scores for QB Lamar Jackson](#27) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 1. [NYG - RB Saquon Barkley takes part in practice]( Source: Giants.com - Dan Salomone New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley (hamstring) participated in team drills during practice Sunday, Aug. 26. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This is a great sign for Barkley's Week 1 availability and effectiveness, as long as he makes it through the next two weeks of practice without incident. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [PHI - QB Carson Wentz not cleared for contact yet](=) Source: The Philadelphia Inquirer - Jeff McLane Philadelphia Eagles QB [Carson Wentz]( (knee) has yet to be cleared for contact as of Sunday, Aug. 26. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] With the season opener on a Thursday, it's difficult to picture Wentz being ready to go. Nick Foles had a great postseason, but he'll bring down the projections across the board for the offense against Atlanta. Wentz could make his debut Week 2 at Tampa. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [IND - QB Andrew Luck not all the way back]( Source: The Athletic - Stephen Holder Indianapolis Colts QB [Andrew Luck]( (shoulder) has acknowledged his 'fastball' is not where it needs to be, but he believes it will come with time, according to Stephen Holder of The Athletic. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Luck isn't going to be his old self upon his return and might rely more on short passing to Eric Ebron, Jack Doyle, and the running backs at first. Even though Luck isn't going to be projected at his old production levels, his ADP more than reflects the uncertainty. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [NYG - Jon Halapio likely will start]( Source: The Bergen Record - Art Stapleton New York Giants C Jon Halapio likely will be the starting center this season after the team traded C Brett Jones to the Minnesota Vikings. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Halapio had earned the job by many accounts, so this isn't really a downgrade for the Giants offensive line. Last year's starter Weston Richburg signed a big deal in free agency. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [NYG - X-rays negative for OLB Olivier Vernon](=) Source: ESPN.com - Josina Anderson Updating a previous reports, New York Giants LB Olivier Vernon (ankle) underwent X-rays on his injured ankle and they came back negative, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That's good news, but he's not out of the woods for Week 1 and limited effectiveness when he first returns. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [IND - OLB John Simon expected to be fine](=) Source: 1070 The Fan - Kevin Bowen Indianapolis Colts DE John Simon (neck) is day-to-day because of the neck injury he suffered in the third preseason game. Head coach Frank Reich said Simon's current neck injury is less severe than the one that ended his 2017 season. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This is a sigh of relief after Simon was fitting in well and helping an undermanned Colts defense. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [IND - Denzelle Good week-to-week](=) Source: 1070 The Fan - Kevin Bowen Indianapolis Colts OT Denzelle Good (knee) is considered week-to-week because of the knee injury he suffered in the third preseason game. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Right tackle is going to be a problem for the Colts line and the Bengals are going to test that spot repeatedly in Week 1. Andrew Luck is used to playing with offensive line problems, but this could really hamper him in his first game in two years. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [CIN - Christian Westerman suffers injury]( Source: Bengals.com Cincinnati Bengals OG Christian Westerman (back) suffered a back injury during the preseason game Sunday, Aug. 26, and will not return. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Bengals had already had Cordy Glenn go down in this game. A line that was looking refurbished earlier in the preseason has some potential issues going into the season opener against Indianapolis. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [DAL - Two linemen should be ready for Week 1]( Source: ESPNDallas.com - Todd Archer Dallas Cowboys OG Zack Martin (knee) and OT Tyron Smith (hamstring) will not play in the preseason game Sunday, Aug. 26, but both players are expected to be ready for the start of the regular season, according to sources. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] They should play Week 1, but how effective will they be against the Panthers and how long will they stay healthy. Travis Frederick being out indefinitely might be just one of multiple injury issues for the line. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [DAL - QB Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliot to sit out]( Source: ESPNDallas.com - Todd Archer Dallas Cowboys QB [Dak Prescott]( and RB [Ezekiel Elliott]( will not play in the preseason game Sunday, Aug. 26, because the team has several starting offensive linemen sidelined, according to sources. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This continues a trend of teams erring on the side of caution in Week 3 of the preseason. It might not be the revealing dress rehearsal week for much longer. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [CIN - WR John Ross makes a splash in dress rehearsal](=) Source: ESPN.com Cincinnati Bengals WR [John Ross]( tallied two receptions for 66 yards and a touchdown in the team's third preseason game versus the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, Aug. 26. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Ross also dropped a perfectly thrown slant that he might have taken to the house. He is a great late round pick with the potential for a Week 1 outburst against the Colts. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [CIN - WR A.J. Green finds the end zone Sunday](=) Source: ESPN.com Cincinnati Bengals WR [A.J. Green]( call four passes for 50 yards and a touchdown in the team's third preseason game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, Aug. 26. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Green is in mid-season form and he is well-deserving of a pick at ADP. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [BUF - QB Josh Allen checked for concussion and cleared]() Source: ProFootballTalk.com Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen (head) went 6-of-12 for 34 yards in the team's third preseason game versus the Cincinnati Bengals before leaving the game late in the first half after his head bounced off the turf. He was cleared to be able to return to the game. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Allen wasn't as bad as his stats, it was his line not giving him time to throw, although he did miss an open Charles Clay downfield because of an uncharacteristic underthrow. It is going to be a long year for the Bills offense if this offensive line doesn't improve. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [CIN - QB Andy Dalton shines Sunday](=) Source: ESPN.com Cincinnati Bengals QB [Andy Dalton]( finished 11-of-16 for 180 yards and two touchdowns in less than a half of action in the team's third preseason game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, Aug. 26. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Dalton was fantastic and were it not for drops, he would have been even more productive. He's looking like a value heading into a Week 1 matchup against Indianapolis. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 15. [CIN - Cordy Glenn exits early]() Source: The Cincinnati Enquirer - Paul Dehner Jr. Cincinnati Bengals OT Cordy Glenn (shoulder) was removed from the team's third preseason game against the Buffalo Bills with a shoulder injury and will not return Sunday, Aug. 26. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Bengals pass offense was going up and down the field on the Bills defense, so this is a cloudy lining to a silver day. The dropoff from Glenn to Cedric Ogbuehi is steep, so we'll be watching this. Week 1 draws the Colts, so it might not matter that much if Glenn is out or limited for that game. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 16. [TEN - Rishard Mathews cleared to practice]( Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Mathews was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list Sunday, Aug. 26. WR Michael Campanaro was placed on the Reserve/Injured list in a corresponding move. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Matthews had meniscus surgery a few weeks ago and appears to be ready to get back up to speed for Week 1 against Miami. He might be slotted back into the starting lineup, although Taywan Taylor has had a great summer and might persuade the team to put Matthews in a more limited role to start the season and let play decide what happens from there. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 17. [NYG - OLB Olivier Vernon injures ankle Sunday]() Source: ESPN.com - Jordan Raanan New York Giants DE Olivier Vernon (ankle) was unable to stand after getting his feet tangled up in practice and was eventually carted off the field Sunday, Aug. 26. Vernon is undergoing further evaluation, although ESPN's Jordan Raanan observed he didn't appear to be in much pain. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Vernon is the team's best pass rusher by a good margin and recent acquisition Connor Barwin is out with an undisclosed injury. The Jaguars could have an easier time throwing downfield in Week 1 against the Giants. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 18. [MIN - Brett Jones shipped to Minnesota]() Source: Giants.com New York Giants C Brett Jones was traded to the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for an undisclosed 2019 draft choice Sunday, Aug. 26. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jones is mere depth, but he's not cheap depth at 2.9 million dollars. The Vikings interior offensive line has one starter out and the other two hurting, so they sorely need competent bodies right now. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 19. [NYJ - RB Elijah McGuire could land on short-term IR]( Source: SNY - Ralph Vacchiano New York Jets RB [Elijah McGuire]( (foot) has been ruled out for the regular-season opener and head coach Todd Bowles told reporters Sunday, Aug. 26, he would not rule out placing McGuire on the Reserve/Injured list to start the season. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Well that's a wide range of possibilities. The Jets might have a roster spot crunch with some much youth and uncertainty on the roster, including carrying three quarterbacks, so that could spell injured reserve for McGuire. If McGuire does end up on injured reserve, that helps Bilal Powell's stock. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 20. [BAL - DE Willie Henry to miss a few weeks]( Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper Baltimore Ravens DL Willie Henry (hernia) is expected to be sidelined 'a few weeks' after undergoing surgery to repair an umbilical hernia, according to head coach John Harbaugh. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Ravens have a very deep group on the defensive line, although Henry was an ascendant player. He would have made mincemeat out of the Bills offensive line in Week 1. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 21. [NE - WR Eric Decker calls it a career]( Source: NFL Network - James Palmer New England Patriots WR [Eric Decker]( announced his retirement on social media Sunday, Aug. 26. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Congrats to Decker on a nice NFL career. Best to him for whatever comes next. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 22. [NYG - TE Evan Engram held out of practice Sunday]() Source: The Athletic - Dan Duggan New York Giants TE [Evan Engram]( (concussion) was at practice but did not participate Sunday, Aug. 26. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This shouldn't affect Engram's Week 1 availability against Jacksonville but we'll be watching Week 1 practice reports to be sure. Rhett Ellison would get the start if Engram can't go and Sterling Shepard would be a better WR3/Flex play. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 23. [MIN - Pat Elflein unlikely to practice this week](=) Source: Minneapolis Star Tribune - Andrew Krammer Minnesota Vikings C Pat Elflein (ankle, shoulder) is not expected to begin the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list, but he is expected to miss at least another week of practice, according to head coach Mike Zimmer. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Vikings offensive line already lost a starting guard and their other starting guard, Mike Remmers, is also banged up. The 49ers defense could have an easier time against the Vikings Week if Elflein is out. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 24. [BUF - Time already running out on WR Corey Coleman?]( Source: WKBW.com - Joe Buscaglia Buffalo Bills WR [Corey Coleman]( is not a lock to make the 53-man roster, according to WKBW's Joe Buscaglia. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Coleman only garnered a seventh-round pick in return, so there's no strong commitment there. If he can't make the Bills roster with their league worst wide receiver depth chart, it will be time to wonder just why teams are giving up on him even though he has played well at times in limited action. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 25. [LAC - DE Joey Bosa ready for Week 1](=) Source: Chargers.com - Ricky Henne Los Angeles Chargers DL Joey Bosa will 'absolutely' be ready for Week 1 against the Kansas City Chiefs, head coach Anthony Lynn said Saturday, Aug. 25. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] He'll be needed against the potentially high-flying Chiefs offense. There's no reason to be worried about his injury in IDP leagues, but if Bosa starts slow, we'll know why. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 26. [LAC - RB Austin Ekeler runs well](=) Source: ESPN.com Los Angeles Chargers RB [Austin Ekeler]( rushed six times for 50 yards and caught three passes for 13 yards in a 36-7 preseason loss to the New Orleans Saints Saturday, Aug. 25. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Ekeler has established himself as the clear backup to Melvin Gordon and he might even have some matchup PPR value. He's a worthy handcuff to Gordon and late round pick at running back. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 27. [BAL - Two scores for QB Lamar Jackson](=) Source: ESPN.com Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson completed seven of his 10 passes for 98 yards and a touchdown and rushed three times for 39 yards and a touchdown in a 27-10 preseason win over the Miami Dolphins Saturday, Aug. 25. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jackson was much better than he was earlier in the preseason, perhaps good enough to give the Ravens reason to release Robert Griffin III and make him the primary backup quarterback. He's still a year away from mattering in fantasy leagues unless Joe Flacco goes down.
