[FREE Feature - How will the Jacksonville wide receivers shake out?]( With Allen Robinson now in Chicago and Allen Hurns gone to Dallas, the wide receiver corps in Jacksonville will be different. At different times in 2017, Marqise Lee, Keelan Cole, and Dede Westbrook each flashed a good deal of ability. To complicate matters, the Jaguars signed Donte Moncrief and drafted D.J. Chark Jr. Do any of these guys have a defined role right now? Can one (or more) of them provide startable fantasy value? The Footballguys Staff dives in. D. [How will the Miami wide receivers shake out?]() In the past, one thing was certain in Miami - Jarvis Landry would get nearly 5 million targets. With his departure to Cleveland, a gaping hole exists. Do Kenny Stills and DeVante Parker make huge leaps in 2018? Do free-agent additions Albert Wilson and Danny Amendola pick up the slack? Is there now room for youngsters like Leonte Carroo and Jakeem Grant? The Footballguys Staff dives in. E. [How will the NY Jets wide receivers shake out?](=) There is a lot of uncertainty in the New York wide receivers corps. After a stellar 2017 season, Robby Anderson is widely assumed to be the top option for the Jets. But Quincy Enunwa was slated for that role before injuring his neck. Can he regain that spot from Anderson? Kearse turned in the best season of his career last year, but he's not even a lock for a roster spot. Is Terrelle Pryor healthy enough to regain his 2016 form? Is there room for any production from Chad Hansen, ArDarius Stewart, or Charone Peake? The Footballguys Staff dives in. F. [How will the Washington wide receivers shake out?](=) This group isn't as wide open as some of the other teams, but there is still some unknown in Washington. Who is the top option for Alex Smith? Paul Richardson Jr? Josh Doctson? Jamison Crowder? Is there any reason to expect noteworthy production from the likes of Trey Quinn, Brian Quick, Simmie Cobbs, or Maurice Harris? [WAS - Derrius Guice to undergo MRI](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins RB Derrius Guice (knee) is scheduled to undergo an MRI Friday, Aug. 10, on the knee injury he suffered in the first preseason game. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Keep a close eye on this one. We'll hopefully have clarity Friday. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [CLE - Two scores for TE David Njoku](=) Source: ESPN.com Cleveland Browns TE [David Njoku]( caught two of his three targets for 46 yards and two touchdowns against the New York Giants in the preseason Thursday, Aug. 9. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Njoku worked through some rough days in training camp but he looked ready to soar here. Expect his average draft position to rise from this outing. There will be some overreaction but Njoku looked impressive. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [CLE - No timetable for WR Josh Gordon's return]() Source: Akron Beacon Journal - Nate Ulrich Cleveland Browns general manager John Dorsey said there is still 'no updated timetable' for WR [Josh Gordon]('s return to the team. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We're not really sure this should be filed under 'Troubling' -- with or without a capital 'T' but we are happy he is making sure he is taking care of himself. On the upside, this could just mean nothing new has happened. His ADP is hovering at wide receiver #23 right now (51st overall) and his upside, as we know, is significant as is the potential downside if he slips. We're pulling for him off the field, no matter what the result is on the field. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [CLE - WR Dez Bryant plans to meet with CLE]() Source: Twitter Free-agent WR [Dez Bryant]( (Cowboys) said on his Twitter page that he plans to meet with the Cleveland Browns next week. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] And so it begins. We're not sure at all how much Dez Bryant has to contribute but you can be sure we'll be watching here for you. Josh Gordon, of course, is the other variable very much in play here. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [NYG - Saquon Barkley shines in first action](=) Source: ESPN.com New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley rushed four times for 43 yards in the team's first preseason game Thursday, Aug. 9, against the Cleveland Browns. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This was classic pre season hype and expectations. We were fitting him for his Gold Jacket after the first touch. On his next touch, he lost yardage. It'll be fun to watch this unfold for Barkley but we're expecting good things. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [CLE - GM, coach believe Antonio Callaway's story]() Source: Akron Beacon Journal - Nate Ulrich Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns general manager John Dorsey and head coach Hue Jackson believe WR Antonio Callaway's story that he was not smoking when he received his marijuana citation on Sunday, Aug. 5, and that Callaway not telling the team could simply be a 'rookie mistake.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It's hard not to feel like this is wishful thinking and a way to convince themselves they weren't premature in bailing on Corey Coleman. Callaway had big red flags prior to the draft and this is why. We're not sure where this will end up, but we'll be watching for you. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [DEN - Denver to use two RBs with starters]( Source: The Athletic - Nicki Jhabvala Denver Broncos RB [Devontae Booker]( and RB Royce Freeman will split snaps with the first-team offense during the first preseason game Saturday, Aug. 11. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Freeman is the guy we're expecting to be the lead back, but the two will still probably split carries for at least the beginning of the season. He's tracking as the 27th RB off the board right now, and that's a safe spot. He can easily outproduce that, but barring injury, we don't see him producing less right now. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [DEN - TE Jake Butt to work with starters]( Source: The Athletic - Nicki Jhabvala Denver Broncos TE Jake Butt (knee) is scheduled to play with the first-team offense during the first preseason game Saturday, Aug. 11, and likely will see some snaps with the second-team offense. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Butt has first round ability and skills, and could be a dangerous weapon if his knee is all the way back. His ADP isn't great -- he's the 27th tight end off the board right now -- and in this offense with the weapons it has, we aren't seeing much chance he outperforms that greatly. Some great work this preseason could move the needle a little though. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [TB - QB Ryan Fitzpatrick receives starting nod]() Source: Tampa Bay Times - Rick Stroud Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB [Ryan Fitzpatrick]( will be the starting quarterback for the first preseason game Thursday, Aug. 9. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We expect to see Jameis Winston quite a bit here as well. Fitzpatrick has a knack for being in the right place at the right time for starting jobs. He won't keep this one when Winston comes back from suspension, though and we would avoid him in fantasy anyway. Fitzpatrick has more often than not been average or below as both an NFL and fantasy quarterback. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [DET - TE Michael Roberts having problems]() Source: Detroit Free Press - Dave Birkett Detroit Lions TE [Michael Roberts]( (leg) missed a few practices two weeks ago because of a leg injury and has struggled with drops since returning to practice. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] He's second on the depth chart behind Luke Willson, but that may not hold up if he can't fix this. No Detroit tight end looks like a fantasy option, so just consider this us keeping you fully informed because we know you want to know everything. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [BUF - WR Jeremy Kerley may be No. 2 WR]() Source: WKBW.com - Joe Buscaglia Buffalo Bills WR [Jeremy Kerley]( has a chance to win the No. 2 receiver job during training camp and would move to the slot receiver position then the team uses three-receiver sets, in the opinion of WKBW.com's Joe Buscaglia. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Considering they have Kelvin Benjamin, invested a second round pick in Zay Jones and just traded for Corey Coleman, that would be concerning. We expected him to be a slot guy, which doesn't preclude him being one of the top two receivers in Buffalo, but would make it clear that the Bills passing offense isn't one where we expect much fantasy value. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [LAR - WR Brandin Cooks a versatile weapon](=) Source: ESPN.com - Dan Graziano Los Angeles Rams WR [Brandin Cooks]( will be used in a variety of positions and move around offensive formations, according to head coach Sean McVay. McVay added that Cooks is a 'rare type player' who possesses a complete skillset. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Well, the Rams are definitely looking to get their money's worth from Cooks after he signed that ridiculously big contract not long ago. The more ways they can try to use him, the better the chance he breaks out from the pack around him. The Rams didn't throw a ton last year -- they were 24th in passing attempts in 2017 -- but we hope they open things up for Jared Goff this season. That would bode well for Cooks -- currently the 22nd receiver coming off the board in drafts -- and his production. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [LAC - WR Mike Williams a red-zone threat](=) Source: ESPN.com - Dan Graziano Los Angeles Chargers WR [Mike Williams]( said he's been given a sizable red-zone role this offseason. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] After losing most of his rookie year to injury, it's good to see the Chargers are giving Williams a chance to prove himself the weapon they drafted him to be. It doesn't hurt that the team lost a red zone option when Hunter Henry went down for the season. We think Williams could be better than his ADP of 53rd receiver off the board, but he has to stay healthy and show us something in preseason action before the needle moves. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [LAC - More catches for RB Melvin Gordon?](=) Source: ESPN.com - Dan Graziano Los Angeles Chargers RB [Melvin Gordon]( is expected to be used more as a pass-catcher this season. Head coach Anthony Lynn admitted one of his regrets last year was not using Gordon more in the passing game. Gordon said his goal is to achieve more explosive plays going into his fourth year. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The injury to Hunter Henry and the departure of Antonio Gates has left Philip Rivers with a few less weapons than what was expected, so adding another receiving option makes sense. He averaged 3.4 receptions and 30.1 yards per game last season, so we know he has the chops to excel. That combination could make him a very nice lats first round/early second round option in redraft -- right about where his 12th overall/9th running back ADP puts him. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 15. [SF - WR Marquise Goodwin the No. 1 WR](=) Source: ESPN.com - Dan Graziano San Francisco 49ers WR [Marquise Goodwin]( appears to be the unquestioned No. 1 wide receiver to the 49ers. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We've talked about this for a while now, and it really seems that Goodwin is coming into his own. Of course, as the Joker once asked, "Who do you trust?" Goodwin has looked poised for breakout before. This could be different now that he is healthy, has rhythm with Jimmy Garoppolo. That said, his ADP has actually dropped three spots to 40th receiver off the board, so it appears Fantasy GMs remain gun-shy about him. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 16. [SF - RB Jerick McKinnon not featured?](=) Source: ESPN.com - Dan Graziano San Francisco 49ers RB [Jerick McKinnon]( may not be used as a bell-cow running back, according to ESPN.com's Dan Graziano. Graziano posits that there will be weeks when RB [Matt Breida]( plays on early downs. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] McKinnon has been touted as a guy having an impressive camp, so we aren't totally sure what to make of this. Breida has also received a ton of buzz, it's true, but we aren't crowning him just yet. Preseason action will be huge in determining what is going on here. McKinnon has been praised for his receiving, which could give him the edge in snaps as it will keep him on the field. He's currently going off the board as the 13th running back, while Breida is the 55th in ADP. This is starting to smell of a committee, and that would make McKinnon's ADP something to be cautious with. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 17. [JAX - WR Dede Westbrook more comfortable in offense](=) Source: FirstCoastNews.com - Mike Kaye Jacksonville Jaguars WR [Dede Westbrook]('s knowledge of the playbook this preseason has given him a comfort level, and he is making tough catches during training camp. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] With Allen Hurns and Allen Robinson gone, there's room for Westbrook to make a splash. He didn't do a ton in the seven games he played during his rookie season, but this could be a sign he might be in line for some targets. We're still not sold until we've seen some preseason action, and it seems like Fantasy GMs are also holding off on grabbing him as his ADP is currently at 67th receiver off the board. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 18. [DEN - WR Demaryius Thomas changed his diet]() Source: NFL Network - James Palmer Denver Broncos WR [Demaryius Thomas]( (hip) changed his diet in the offseason after reading about the relationship between inflammation and diet. He found out what his body was sensitive to, what inflamed his body and his hip and what supplements that were lacking or needed. He dropped from 228 pounds to 212 pounds and put the weight back on with a new workout program. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Thomas, along with Emmanuel Sanders, will continue to dominate the targets, though rookie Courtland Sutton has had a great camp to date. Thomas seems to be in sync with new Broncos quarterback Case Keenum already, and there is a feeling he could end up getting back over the 1,000 yard mark this season. He's currently going off the board as the 18th receiver, 45th player overall and we are cautiously optimistic about his upside.
