[JAX - WR Dede Westbrook making some noise](#30) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 1. [SEA - WR Doug {NAME} should be ready for Week 1]( Source: Seahawks.com - John Boyle Seattle Seahawks WR [Doug {NAME}]( (knee) is in no danger of missing the regular-season opener against the Denver Broncos on Sept. 9, according to head coach Pete Carroll. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That's reassuring, but {NAME} sitting through camp and most if not all of the preseason indicates that something isn't right, and as the season goes on, it could become a problem that limits his effectiveness, if not sidelines him again. It's difficult to be excited about drafting {NAME} in the third round with thing marring his outlook. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [IND - QB Andrew Luck to play in preseason opener]( Source: SI.com - Albert Breer Indianapolis Colts QB [Andrew Luck]( is expected to play with the starters for about a quarter in the preseason opener versus the Seattle Seahawks, according to head coach Frank Reich. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This is much better than anyone would have projected when Luck wasn't throwing a regulation football yet in the spring. If he doesn't have any setbacks, Luck should be good to go for Week 1 against Cincinnati and he's looking like a value at his current ADP. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [PHI - QB Carson Wentz still out of team reps]() Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafolo Philadelphia Eagles QB [Carson Wentz]( (knee) remains out of 11-on-11 drills Friday, Aug. 3, as the team wants him in more controlled environments. It's the fifth day in a row he has been limited. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Wentz appeared to have fewer limitations earlier in camp. Hopefully this isn't a sign of a setback. The team and Wentz hasn't said anything that indicates that it is, or that this wasn't part of the plan. We'll monitor this closely. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [NE - WR Kenny Britt takes part in practice](=) Source: NFL.com - Kevin Patra New England Patriots WR [Kenny Britt]( (hamstring) passed his physical Friday, Aug. 3, and participated in practice. He started the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Britt has an opportunity to win the #2 outside receiver job and maybe even have fantasy relevance while Julian Edelman is out. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [DET - Kerryon Johnson holding up in pass protection]() Source: The Athletic - Chris Burke Detroit Lions RB Kerryon Johnson has shown well in pass protection throughout training camp, according to Chris Burke of The Athletic. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Johnson is shining as a three-down back and might accelerate the Lions plans to feature him in the backfield. He has done nothing but add to his redraft and dynasty stock this summer. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [DET - RB Ameer Abdullah standing out]() Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero Detroit Lions RB [Ameer Abdullah]( has caught the eye of OG T.J. Lang, who told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero that Abdullah has been the most impressive running back in camp so far. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Abdullah and Theo Riddick are probably battling for snaps and touches in the Detroit offense, which means it's possible that neither are worth a roster spot in fantasy leagues this year without injury striking the Lions backfield. Abdullah is still worth holding in dynasty leagues in the hopes that next year his second team will use him more effectively. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [NE - RB Jeremy Hill in position to make team]( Source: NESN.com - Doug Kyed New England Patriots RB [Jeremy Hill]( is more likely to make the team as the final running back over RB [Mike Gillislee]( (undisclosed) due to durability concerns, according to NESN's Doug Kyed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Gillislee also failed last year in the role that he's trying to win. Sony Michel, James White, and Rex Burkhead's value would be better off if neither makes the team. If Hill does make the team, he'll have matchup value in deep leagues, assuming he gets the majority of the goal line carries - which was a strength of his game in Cincinnati. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [DEN - QB Paxton Lynch, Chad Kelly struggling?]( Source: ESPN.com - Jeff Legwold The Denver Broncos could look into signing a veteran backup if QBs [Paxton Lynch]( and Chad Kelly don't start showing more in training camp, according to ESPN's Jeff Legwold. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Lynch hasn't developed after being a first round pick, and Kelly looks like a Mr. Irrelevant in his first healthy camp. The Broncos aren't the only team in need of an upgrade at backup quarterback. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [PHI - Dallas Goedert keeps shining in red zone]( Source: NBC Sports Philadelphia - Reuben Frank Philadelphia Eagles TE Dallas Goedert appears ready to make an 'enormous impact in the red zone,' according to Reuben Frank of NBC Sports Philadelphia. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This could hurt Zach Ertz's chances of reproducing his 2017 because it was built on a spike in touchdowns with the same yards and catches he usually posts. Goedert could even be the rare fantasy impact rookie tight end if Ertz misses time. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [WAS - WR Maurice Harris impressing coach](=) Source: The Washington Post - Kimberley A. Martin Washington Redskins WR [Maurice Harris]( is a 'very quarterback-friendly,' receiver, according to head coach Jay Gruden. 'He's got strong hands and he's probably our best route-runner on our team,' Gruden said. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Harris made one of the catches of the year in 2017, and he projects well as a backup to Paul Richardson in the deep passing game that Alex Smith made productive in Kansas City last year. If Richardson misses time, we could be talking about Harris as a waiver wire pickup this year. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [JAX - RB Leonard Fournette in better condition]( Source: Jaguars.com - John Oehser Jacksonville Jaguars RB [Leonard Fournette]( said he is already feeling the benefits of playing lighter and showing more consistent burst. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That should keep him producing all through the playoffs this year. Fournette is rated as one of the top running backs for the season and is going off the board in the top ten for fantasy drafts. We expect a very productive year from him. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [CLE - WR Jarvis Landry the top target]() Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot Cleveland Browns WR [Jarvis Landry]( has become the 'go-to guy' for QB [Tyrod Taylor](, according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, and Cabot said Landry has had an 'amazing' training camp. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Josh Gordon is not in camp and Corey Coleman has a lot to prove, and those two factors, along with the money they paid Landry all point towards this. We expect Taylor to be solid, if unspectacular, and Landry should benefit. He's currently going off the board as the 25th receiver, and we think he could be a value at that price. The Browns won't be the Greatest Show on Turf or anything, but people may be overlooking the fantasy value this unit has the potential for. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [SEA - WR Brandon Marshall a full go]() Source: Seahawks.com - John Boyle Seattle Seahawks WR [Brandon Marshall]( (hamstring) participated in team drills Thursday, Aug. 2, for the first time since training camp began. 'I'm still trying to get there in midseason form,' Marshall said. 'I have time, but today felt good and it reminded me that I can play some ball.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] With Doug {NAME} out, Marshall could be a factor, but he fell off the map even before he was injured last season. We're not excited about much in this offense beyond {NAME} or Russell Wilson, and Marshall is no different. Consider him as no more than a flier. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [NYJ - RB Isaiah Crowell to be busy?]( Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini New York Jets RB [Isaiah Crowell]( is going to be a 'big factor' in the offense, in the opinion of Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] He's going to be someone they lean on, and he has gotten goal line work in camp, but the Jets are not an offense which excites us, and likely won't spend a ton of time in the red zone. Crowell has the capability to be better than 36th off the board -- his current ADP -- but we don't see that happening much this year, with this offense still being built. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 15. [HOU - WR Braxton Miller making progress]() Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson Houston Texans WR [Braxton Miller]( has made a lot of progress at receiver since entering the NFL, according to head coach Bill O'Brien. O'Brien said the team wants to see continued improvement from Miller moving forward. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Miller will have a golden opportunity over the next few weeks while fourth-round pick and his main competition Keke Coutee is out with a hamstring injury. A consistent strong performance will go a long way in his bid to have a role in this offense, or even just make the roster. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 16. [CLE - CB Terrance Mitchell on field with starters]() Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot Cleveland Browns CB Terrance Mitchell worked with the first-team defense opposite CB Denzel Ward during the team's scrimmage Friday, Aug. 3. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Browns will have a rookie on one side and a corner that might not start for many teams on the other. Unless their pass rush is among the league's best, this pass defense could struggle this year and be a target once again when setting fantasy lineups. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 17. [JAX - WR Donte Moncrief a full participant]( Source: The Florida Times-Union - John Reid Jacksonville Jaguars WR [Donte Moncrief]( (knee) will be a full participant during practice Friday, Aug. 3. Moncrief has been limited lately because of a knee injury. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Hopefully Moncrief can stay on the field now. Injuries have held back his development and they could hamper his bid to be a productive starting receiver for the Jaguars and earn a good contract next year. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 18. [JAX - Calf injury for DE Calais Campbell](=) Source: FirstCoastNews.com Jacksonville Jaguars DE Calais Campbell (calf) is not participating in practice Friday, Aug. 3, because of a calf injury. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] There are no indications that this is anything but a minor injury. In the meantime, first-round pick Taven Bryan will get more work at defensive end with the first team. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 19. [MIA - Torry McTyer in lead for CB job]() Source: The Miami Herald - Armando Salguero Miami Dolphins CB Torry McTyer is currently the leading candidate for the starting job opposite CB Xavien Howard, according to head coach Adam Gase. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Howard is turning into one of the league's newest shutdown corners, but the Dolphins will be starting a question mark on the opposite side, something to keep in mind when we set our lineups and plan our DFS weeks in 2018. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 20. [BUF - DE Shaq Lawson moving around]() Source: WKBW.com - Joe Buscaglia Buffalo Bills DE Shaq Lawson has been lining up at defensive end during offseason workouts but has also worked as a defensive tackle on third-down situations. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Bills are hoping to harvest some of the first-round investment they made in Lawson back in 2016. If the team is competitive this year, the defense will have to be the unit that keeps them in games. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 21. [SF - 'Concern' about injury to Josh Garnett](=) Source: NBC Sports Bay Area - Matt Maiocco San Francisco 49ers OG Josh Garnett (knee) is getting a second opinion on his knee, and head coach Kyle Shanahan admitted there was 'concern' in regards to the seriousness of his condition. Garnett banged knees during practice Saturday, July 28, and has been unable to practice since. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It looks like Laken Tomlinson will man one guard position, but the other is up in the air with Garnett's injury, Jonathan Cooper still getting back into shape, and Mike Person providing solid reps in their stead. Whoever wins the job, they will be tested against the Vikings in Week 1. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 22. [SF - CB Richard Sherman leaves practice early](=) Source: ESPN.com - Nick Wagoner San Francisco 49ers CB Richard Sherman (hamstring) went down hard while in coverage during the early portion of practice and did not return Friday, Aug. 3. Head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters afterwards Sherman is dealing with hamstring tightness. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Sherman is far from a sure thing to return to his old form after tearing his achilles last year. The hamstring tightness could be an issue related to getting back into shape after a long layoff. The 49ers decision to move Jimmie Ward to corner looks wiser in light of this development. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 23. [MIA - Mike Gesicki 'playing fast'](=) Source: Florida Football Insiders Miami Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki is 'playing fast,' according to head coach Adam Gase. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Gesicki didn't stand out in the spring and had a slow start to camp, but the tide is turning. It's difficult for rookie tight ends to have fantasy relevance, but Gase turned Julius Thomas into a fantasy wonder, and Gesicki could be the #1 red zone target. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 24. [JAX - DJ Chark making a strong impression]() Source: The Florida Times-Union - Phillip Heilman Jacksonville Jaguars WR DJ Chark has shown dependable hands and looked comfortable pretty much wherever the coaching staff has lined him up during training camp, according to Philip Heilman of The Florida Times-Union. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Jaguars have five receivers who can all play solid roles in the offense this year, and at least three who can be deep threats. While it's not good for predicting weekly projections among the receiver group, it could be a boon for Blake Bortles. Chark is more of a dynasty stash right now, but if Donte Moncrief and Marqise Lee can't stay healthy, he could be a waiver wire pickup this season. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 25. [DEN - Courtland Sutton locking up third WR spot]() Source: NFL Network - James Palmer Denver Broncos WR Courtland Sutton is making at least one highlight-reel catch every practice and 'is the third receiver on this team ... it's not even a competition and everybody knows it,' according to NFL Network's James Palmer. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Sutton could help Case Keenum's value, but if he is strong #3, that will take the edge off of Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders' upside this season. Both are still being discounted from the poor quarterback play the team has suffered through the last two years, so they might still be good values even with the emergence of Sutton. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 26. [DAL - WR Cole Beasley standing out]( Source: ESPNDallas.com - Todd Archer Dallas Cowboys WR [Cole Beasley]( has been the best receiver in camp and one of the best players overall so far, according to ESPN's Todd Archer. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The experiment to put Beasley outside sometimes might be bearing fruit, but if this is true, then it increases the chances that no Cowboys receiver will be consistently relevant in fantasy leagues this year. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 27. [TB - Justin Watson could help in red zone]( Source: Buccaneers.com - Scott Smith Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Justin Watson 'looks capable of being a red zone weapon,' according to Scott Smith of Bucanners.com. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Watson won't be fantasy relevant this year, but he should make the team as the fifth receiver and could be as high as the third receiver by next year. He's a viable deep dynasty stash. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 28. [TB - WR Chris Godwin earning more looks?]( Source: Buccaneers.com - Scott Smith Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR [Chris Godwin]( has been excellent in training camp, according to Scott Smith of Buccaneers.com, and Smith believes Godwin's play could force the coaching staff to find 'new ways to increase his snap total.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Godwin is making DeSean Jackson unworthy of a draft pick in typical fantasy leagues, and he might even start to cut into Mike Evans' ceiling. He should be on your late round target list. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 29. [WAS - RB Rob Kelley slimmed down](=) Source: The Washington Post - Kimberley A. Martin Washington Redskins RB [Rob Kelley]( said he is playing faster now that his weight is down to 221 pounds this season. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Kelley is battling Samaje Perine to be the #2 back behind Derrius Guice in the early down offense. If he is faster, he'll likely win the competition, and maybe even make Perine a surprise cut. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 30. [JAX - WR Dede Westbrook making some noise]( Source: Jaguars.com - John Oehser Jacksonville Jaguars WR [Dede Westbrook]( continues to 'flash' during training camp, according to John Oehser of Jaguars.com. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Blake Bortles gave Westbrook a lot of work on third down last season, and the then-rookie responded. The Jaguars receiving corps is in a state of flux this year, with Allen Hurns and Allen Robinson gone, and there is room for Westbrook to make some noise. His wide receiver ADP is hovering in the 60s right now, and we wouldn't kill ourselves to grab him earlier, but he's worth watching.
