[CHI - Anthony Miller a complete receiver?](#13) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 1. [NO - RB Adrian Peterson open to Saints return]( Source: ESPN.com - Josina Anderson Free-agent RB [Adrian Peterson]( (Cardinals) said he would be open to signing with the New Orleans Saints this offseason even though things did not work out between the two sides last season. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It's just an odd fit...just like it was last year. The Saints have left the door open to a return for Peterson and now he's open with it as well. Peterson didn't fit the Saints offense and was traded away last October. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [DAL - Michael Gallup finding his role](=) Source: The Dallas Morning News - Jon Machota Dallas Cowboys WR Michael Gallup said he is going to focus on running his routes and won't try to come in and replace WR [Dez Bryant](. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Gallup could end up as a no.1 wide receiver for the Cowboys in the future. The speed of his transition to the pros will determine how soon he can make that sort of impact. Gallup can make acrobatic catches and has a bit of Brandon Lloyd to his game. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [TB - Ronald Jones to play every down?]() Source: ESPN.com - Jenna Laine Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Ronald Jones has been catching a variety of passes during rookie minicamp and will have the opportunity to play in space and line up as a receiver in head coach Dirk Koetter's offense. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jones has the type of ability that puts him on the field on all three downs. He can be a dangerous runner with the speed to score from anywhere. Jones can also be used as a receiver out of the backfield, but he can also line up in the slot if need be. It may not take long for him to ascend to the top of the depth chart for the Bucs. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [ARI - Christian Kirk was arrested]( Source: The Arizona Republic - Kent Somers Arizona Cardinals WR Christian Kirk was arrested in February and charged with criminal damage for allegedly throwing rocks at cars while intoxicated. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The case is pending and a Cardinals spokesman said the team is aware of the incident and spoke with Kirk at length about it. 'Our understanding is that the process will be resolved in the near future, but while it remains an active legal matter, we won't comment further. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [LAC - Nelson Spruce signed by LAC](=) Source: Chargers.com - Ricky Henne Free-agent WR [Nelson Spruce]( (Chiefs) was signed to an undisclosed deal by the Los Angeles Chargers Monday, May 14. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Spruce has bounced around the league a bit since entering as an undrafted free agent out of Colorado in 2016. He has good quickness on underneath routes and can work the sidelines. He's a long shot to make the 53-man roster. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [DAL - DT Maliek Collins has surgery]( Source: ESPNDallas.com - Todd Archer Dallas Cowboys DT Maliek Collins (hand) underwent surgery to repair a broken left fifth metatarsal Monday, May 14, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The hope is that Collins will be able to return by the end of training camp and be ready for Week 1. Collins suffered the injury in workouts last week. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [HOU - S Tyrann Mathieu will be used as safety]( Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson Houston Texans FS Tyrann Mathieu will only be used at safety, and the team wants Mathieu to concentrate on becoming a leader of the secondary. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Mathieu received playing time at linebacker, cornerback and safety while with the Arizona Cardinals. Expect the Texans to follow suit with his versatility. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [CAR - WR Russell Shepard released]( Source: Panthers.com - Bryan Strickland Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers WR [Russell Shepard]( was officially released Monday, May 14. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Shepard is incredibly athletic but he's still somewhat raw as a receiver. Reports indicated he didn't want to take a pay cut, leading to his release. The Panthers have added plenty of talent to the receiving corps and should not miss Shepard. We'll see if he can latch on as a reserve receiver and return man somewhere else. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [PIT - Pittsburgh signs Damoun Patterson]( Source: Steelers.com - Teresa Varley Undrafted free-agent WR Damoun Patterson (Youngstown State) signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers Monday, May 14. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Steelers have an eye for wide receiver talent, so in super super deep dynasty leagues we'll monitor Patterson. His skill set and size say he'll struggle to make the roster as a receiver (even though he's a deep threat) but might be able to contribute as a return man. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [NE - NE unlikely to pursue QB Johnny Manziel]( Source: ESPNBoston.com - Mike Reiss Free-agent QB [Johnny Manziel]( (Browns) likely will no longer be pursued by the New England Patriots after the Patriots selected QB Danny Etling in the 2018 NFL Draft, in the opinion of ESPNBoston.com's Mike Reiss. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Etling is a camp arm for the Patriots, and he may struggle to be much more for the team or in the NFL. Manziel is trying to make a comeback to the league and the Patriots were reportedly interested. Etling's presence shouldn't prevent them from being interested in another quarterback, but Reiss is one of the most connected writers out there...so we take it as gospel. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [WAS - S DeAngelo Hall retires](=) Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Washington Redskins S DeAngelo Hall retired from professional football Monday, May 14. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] A top-10 pick in 2004 (Falcons), most people will remember Hall for his time with Washington. With a few Pro Bowl nods under his belt, Hall retires after a long and successful career. Reports indicate he wants to get into sports media. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [NYG - Ereck Flowers reports](=) Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter New York Giants OT Ereck Flowers reported to offseason workouts Monday, May 14. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Flowers has been staying away from the team as he was reportedly unhappy with the Giants decision to sign left tackle Nate Solder in free agency. A trade is still an option, but the team intends to play him at right tackle. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [CHI - Anthony Miller a complete receiver?]( Source: Chicago Tribune - Rich Campbell Chicago Bears WR Anthony Miller said he isn't afraid of the 'physical element' of the game and is a willing blocker in the running game. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Miller had 238 career catches at Memphis and scored 37 touchdowns (32 over the last two years). He's got tremendous work ethic and will be a team-first guy who does whatever it takes to contribute. We'll see if he can make progress as a blocker, but there's no doubt he won't shy away from the work he needs to do in that area.
