[BUF - WR Kelvin Benjamin talks on hold](#15) 16. [IND - Nyheim Hines a dual threat](#16) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 1. [CLE - Intangibles separated Baker Mayfield](=) Source: JReidDraftScout Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield's off-field intangibles gave him the edge in being viewed as the best quarterback in this year's class by the Browns, according to vice president of player personnel Alonzo Highsmith Sr. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Highsmith specifically noted Mayfield's intelligence, competitiveness and efficacy as favorable traits. Mayfield is certainly an alpha male and believes he's the one who can turn things around for the Browns. It's going to be interesting to watch and see if Mayfield can start from day one. He should as he has the accuracy and ability to do so, but the Browns may begin this season with Tyrod Taylor as their starter. Stay tuned...and pay close attention to which WRs Mayfield seems to form the strongest bond with leading up to the regular season. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [WAS - Derrius Guice expected to start]() Source: ESPN.com - John Keim Washington Redskins RB Derrius Guice is expected to start for the team. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Guice is immediately the most talented running back in Washington's room. The buzz is Guice fell in the draft due to concerns about his motivation. Advantage; Washington, who now upgrades the position if they can keep Guice on the right track. They'll still use Chris Thompson as a change-of-pace back, and now Samaje Perine goes to the bench as a reserve player behind Guice. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [DET - Kerryon Johnson's durability no concern](=) Source: Detroit Free Press - Dave Birkett Detroit Lions RB Kerryon Johnson's durability is not a concern, according to general manager Bob Quinn. 'He'll hold up,' Quinn said. 'So we feel really good about that. There's no issues with his durability for us.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Johnson has an angular build at 6' 213 pounds, and he doesn't shy away from contact. His build, combined with his running style is a cause for concern to some. NFL.com's Lance Zierlein compares Johnson's skill set to that of Tevin Coleman. It will be interesting to see how the Lions create touches for a backfield that includes Johnson, LeGarrette Blount, Ameer Abdullah and Theo Riddick. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [PHI - WR Nelson Agholor's option picked up]( Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Philadelphia Eagles WR [Nelson Agholor]('s fifth-year option was exercised Monday, April 30, according to sources. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Agholor had yet to play up to his potential as a first-round pick until 2017. Expect the Eagles to try to sign him to a long-term deal if he continues his solid play. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [SF - DE Arik Armstead's option picked up]( Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport San Francisco 49ers DE Arik Armstead's fifth-year option was exercised Monday, April 30, according to sources. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] A first-round pick in 2015, Armstead has not played a full 16-game season since his rookie year. He's only played in 14 games over the last two seasons and is transitioning to more of a run-stuffing role in 2018. We'll see if he can hold up with this new role. The fifth-year option is guaranteed only for injury. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [HOU - RB Alfred Blue contract update](=) Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson Updating a previous report, Houston Texans RB [Alfred Blue]('s one-year contract is worth $880,000. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Texans didn't get a back in the 2018 NFL draft (a deep and talented class), so they decided to bring back Blue. He'll serve as the third-string back behind Lamar Miller and D'Onta Foreman (when healthy). [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [NYG - Ereck Flowers shopped during draft]() Source: ESPN.com - Jordan Raanan New York Giants OT Ereck Flowers was shopped to other teams during the 2018 NFL Draft, but teams believed the Giants' asking price of a middle-round draft choice was too high, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Flowers has failed as a left tackle, so the Giants went out in free agency and spent big money on Nate Solder. They wanted Flowers to move to the right side, but it seems like he is not happy staying with the team. Flowers needs to get used to the idea of playing right tackle...or inside at guard because he's just not athletic enough to handle the premiere pass rushers on the left side. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [MIN - Cayleb Jones suspended](=) Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero Minnesota Vikings WR [Cayleb Jones]( has been suspended four games for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing drugs. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Undrafted by the Eagles out of Arizona in 2016, Jones has been buried on the Vikings depth chart since late that year. This suspension isn't going to help him make the final roster. We'll see if he can do enough in camp to keep his job. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [JAX - WR Jaelen Strong released]( Source: FirstCoastNews.com - Mike Kaye Jacksonville Jaguars WR [Jaelen Strong]( was released Monday, April 30, according to a source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] A third-round pick of the Texans in 2015, injuries and inconsistencies have derailed Strong's pro career. He's just never played up to his physical potential and is running out of chances to prove himself at the pro level. Strong is still recovering from a torn ACL he suffered last December with the Jaguars and his status for the start of the regular season is in question. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [MIN - Minnesota brings back CB Terence Newman]( Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Free-agent CB Terence Newman (Vikings) re-signed with the Minnesota Vikings Monday, April 30. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Newman is the Vikings version of the 'guarantee on the box' in Tommy Boy -- he may not do much but it makes you feel good to have him there. The veteran corner is nearing 40-years old and should see his snaps decline in 2018. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [GB - Joe Callahan cut]() Source: Packers.com Green Bay Packers QB [Joe Callahan]( was released Monday, April 30. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] No need for Callahan after the team traded for Deshone Kizer earlier this year. We'll see Kizer compete for the backup job behind Aaron Rodgers with Bret Hundley. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [DAL - Mike White to push for No. 2 QB job](=) Source: ESPNDallas.com - Todd Archer Dallas Cowboys QB Mike White will compete with QB [Cooper Rush]( for the backup quarterback job during training camp. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Rush, undrafted out of Central Michigan in 2017, has some Kellen Moore to his game. While White, the rookie draft pick from Western Kentucky, has a rocket arm we see Rush as more of a cerebral quarterback with limited arm talent. Dynasty owners (in super deep leagues) should be a bit more interested in White just given his natural tools for passing the ball. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [DAL - Dallas worked out RB Lance Dunbar](=) Source: ESPNDallas.com - Todd Archer Free-agent RB [Lance Dunbar]( (Rams) recently worked out for the Dallas Cowboys. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Undrafted out of North Texas in 2012, Dunbar spent most of his career with the Cowboys-- bouncing on and off the roster. He spent one year with the Rams (2017) and now finds himself looking for work. The Cowboys are likely just updating their emergency list. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [NO - J.T. Barrett invited to Saints camp]( Source: Twitter Undrafted free-agent QB J.T. Barrett (Ohio State) will attend the New Orleans Saints' rookie minicamp. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Barrett is going to be there on a tryout basis. He showed well at the East-West Shrine Game earlier this year, but his limitations as a passer prevented him from getting more than a rookie camp invite. We'll see if he can impress enough as a quarterback -- or an athlete -- to get a spot on the Saints for minicamp and OTAs. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 15. [BUF - WR Kelvin Benjamin talks on hold]() Source: The Buffalo News - Jay Skurski Buffalo Bills WR [Kelvin Benjamin]( won't have contract talks on an extension until at least the summer, according to general manager Brandon Beane. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Bills have to see how Benjamin fits into the new offense. Benjamin also needs to show them he will have the ability to stay healthy and make a larger impact in 2018. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 16. [IND - Nyheim Hines a dual threat]( Source: The Indianapolis Star - Stephen Holder Indianapolis Colts RB Nyheim Hines has a unique skill set that should enable him to be a factor in the offense as both a runner and receiver. Hines played two years of receiver in college before moving to the backfield after a logjam cleared. Hines said multiple teams discussed drafting him and making him a permanent slot receiver. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Hines was a dual threat in college who can line up in the backfield, in the slot or out wide. It will be interesting to see how and where the Colts play him on the field. Hines has the speed to take it the distance any time he touches the ball.
