[NE - WR Malcolm Mitchell not added to roster](=) Source: ESPNBoston.com - Mike Reiss New England Patriots WR [Malcolm Mitchell]( (knee) was not activated from the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Dec. 30, and will not play against the New York Jets in Week 17. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Patriots have been monitoring Mitchell closely as he returns from this knee injury that has cost him his entire sophomore season as a pro. Mitchell could be activated for the playoffs, but don't expect him to do much in the postseason if that happens. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [SEA - Tyrone Swoopes added to roster]() Source: Seahawks.com Seattle Seahawks practice squad TE Tyrone Swoopes was signed to the active roster Saturday, Dec. 30. The team also placed DT Nazair Jones (ankle) on the Reserve/Injured list. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Swoopes is a converted college quarterback who played for the Longhorns as a collegian. He was signed as a priority free agent after the 2017 NFL draft. Swoopes caught seven passes for 69 yards in the preseason. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [KC - RB Charcandrick West will not play]( Source: Chiefs.com - B.J. Kissel Kansas City Chiefs RB [Charcandrick West]( (illness) has been ruled out of the team's Week 17 game. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Without West (and with Kareem Hunt resting for the playoffs), we should see Akeem Hunt get a large role against the Broncos in Week 17. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [NYJ - RB Matt Forte placed on IR]() Source: Newsday - Calvin Watkins New York Jets RB [Matt Forte]( (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Dec. 30. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Forte just isn't the same player he used to be and his role with the Jets was in decline this year. He finishes the 2017 season with 381 yards rushing, 293 yards receiving and three total touchdowns. Owed $3 million in 2018, the Jets are likely to move on from the veteran back this offseason. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [TEN - WR Eric Decker likely will play](=) Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt Tennessee Titans WR [Eric Decker]( (hamstring) should be able to play in Week 17 even though he was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 29, according to head coach Mike Mularkey. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Decker has been solid over the last three weeks with over 50 yards receiving in each contest. He's only scored one touchdown so far in 2017, but he should get a handful of targets against the Jaguars in the season finale. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [TEN - David Fluellen could see some work](=) Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt Tennessee Titans RB [David Fluellen]( could receive some snaps on offense in Week 17 with RB [DeMarco Murray]( (knee) ruled out. He has been active for all 15 games this season but has been used mostly on special teams. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Undrafted out of Toledo in 2014, Fluellen is a big back who can grind down a defense. Derrick Henry will be the primary back with guys like Fluellen trying to get some snaps here or there. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [JAX - WR Allen Hurns expected to play]() Source: The Florida Times-Union - Ryan O'Halloran Jacksonville Jaguars WR [Allen Hurns]( (ankle) is expected to play against the Tennessee Titans in Week 17. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Hurns should be back in Week 17 to shake off the rust. The Jaguars are locked into the 3rd seed of the AFC, but starters are going to play per head coach Doug Marrone. With Marqise Lee out, Hurns will mix in with rookies Keelan Cole and Dede Westbrook. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [IND - QB Andrew Luck hopes to be ready for workouts]() Source: The Indianapolis Star - Zak Keefer Indianapolis Colts QB [Andrew Luck]( (shoulder) said he believes that he will be ready for the start of offseason workouts. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Hope is not a strategy, but that's what we're left with in the case of Luck. He's been in Europe rehabbing this injury and there was buzz about him needing another surgery. At this time, the Colts plan on having Luck ready at the beginning of the 2018 season. We shall see....so stay tuned. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [CIN - OLB Vontaze Burfict ruled out](=) Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero Cincinnati Bengals LB Vontaze Burfict (shoulder) has been ruled out of the team's Week 17 game. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Burfict's 2017 season is one to forget due to injury and suspension. He played in 10 games this year and looked solid when he was healthy. The Bengals have him wrapped up through the 2020 season. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [BAL - WR Chris Moore may start in Week 17]( Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley Baltimore Ravens WR [Chris Moore]( (knee) likely will be in the starting lineup for the Week 17 game if WR [Jeremy Maclin]( is ruled out for the game. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Moore has speed to burn and does a good job of tracking passes deep over his shoulder. Maclin's knee injury is not season ending, but the Ravens believe he could be back for the playoffs. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [NYG - Chad Wheeler expected to start](=) Source: SNY - Ralph Vacchiano New York Giants OT Chad Wheeler is expected to start at left tackle against the Washington Redskins in Week 17. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Undrafted out of USC in 2017, Wheeler has the skill set of a swing tackle or guard at the pro level. He's athletic but lacks core strength to move big defenders out of the way. He's starting as Ereck Flowers reportedly refused to play in the season finale. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [NYG - Ereck Flowers benched](=) Source: SNY - Ralph Vacchiano New York Giants OT Ereck Flowers (groin) will not be the starting left tackle against the Washington Redskins in Week 17 and probably will not be active for the game, according to a source. Flowers indicated to the team earlier this week that he did not want to play in the game, according to a team source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] A first-round pick (9th overall) in the 2015 NFL draft, Flowers has been a disappointment. We'll see the Giants likely move on from him at left tackle this offseason as new GM Dave Gettlemen works to reshape the roster. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [PHI - Sidney Jones officially activated](=) Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Philadelphia Eagles CB Sidney Jones (Achilles') was officially activated from the Non-Football Injury list Saturday, Dec. 30, and has been added to the 53-man roster. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It's a great comeback story for the rookie. Jones had first-round talent but fell to the second round of the 2017 NFL draft after he tore his Achilles' at his pro day. Don't look for the rookie to do much as he just tries to get back in the swing of things on a defense that is focused on making a deep postseason run. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [DAL - WR Cole Beasley a no-go for finale]( Source: DallasCowboys.com - David Helman Dallas Cowboys WR [Cole Beasley]( (illness) will not travel with the team this weekend and has been ruled out for Week 17 versus the Philadelphia Eagles. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Beasely ends his disappointing 2017 season with 36 catches, 314 yards and four touchdowns. He's no lock to make the team in 2018. The Cowboys will turn to Ryan Switzer in the slot, a fourth-round rookie out of North Carolina. Switzer is lightning quick and dangerous after the catch. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 15. [NYG - WR Tavarres King lands on IR]() Source: Giants.com - Michael Eisen New York Giants WR [Tavarres King]( (concussion) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Dec. 30. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] In eight games in 2017, King snared 18 catches for 240 yards and three touchdowns...with most of that production coming in one game. He's a restricted free agent who might not get a low-round tender offer from the Giants in 2018. Even in super deep dynasty leagues, we're not excited about his future in the pros. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 16. [MIA - David Fales could play in Week 17]( Source: The Miami Herald - Armando Salguero Miami Dolphins QB [David Fales]( could get some playing time in Week 17's game against the Buffalo Bills, although QB [Jay Cutler]( will start the game, according to multiple sources. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Dolphins want to get a look at Fales. He had a quick release in college at San Jose State, and Fales throws with great anticipation. His arm strength is poor and if he's late then he's in trouble as passes will hang there for defenders to snare. A sixth-round pick in 2014 (Bears), Fales could be the primary backup to Ryan Tannehill in 2018 if he shows well. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 17. [PHI - Sidney Jones expected to play in Week 17]( Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Updating a previous report, the Philadelphia Eagles are expected to activate CB Sidney Jones (Achilles') from the Reserve/Injured list and he will play in Week 17's game against the Dallas Cowboys, according to multiple sources. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jones had first-round talent but he fell to the second round of the 2017 NFL draft after he tore his Achilles' during his pro day. He's worked hard to get back to the football field, but the rookie is trying to come back from a major injury on a team that wants to make a deep postseason run. He should be limited upon his return. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 18. [SF - RB Joe Williams finally healthy]( Source: ESPN.com - Nick Wagoner San Francisco 49ers RB Joe Williams (ankle) is now healthy, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Good news for Williams as his rookie season was lost due to this ankle injury. He's got straight-line speed and was a hyped rookie in the fourth round when the 49ers picked him up out of Utah. Carlos Hyde is hitting free agency in 2018, so Williams should compete with Matt Breida for touches next season. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 19. [LAC - TE Antonio Gates feeling better]( Source: Chargers.com Los Angeles Chargers TE [Antonio Gates]( (illness) was a full participant in practice Friday, Dec. 29, and he was removed from the Week 17 injury report. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] In Week 17 against the Raiders, Gates makes for a fine streaming option if you're playing in your fantasy championship and need help at the position. He set season highs last week against the Jets by catching 6-of-8 passes for 81 yards and a touchdown. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 20. [JAX - WR Marqise Lee ruled out](=) Source: Jaguars.com Jacksonville Jaguars WR [Marqise Lee]( (ankle) did not practice Friday, Dec. 29, and he has been ruled out against the Tennessee Titans in Week 17. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Lee is out as the team prepares for a playoff run as the AFC's 3rd seed. He's out but the team gets Allen Hurns back on the field for the season finale. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- That'll do it for today, Folks.
