If passed, the ban would impact millions of Floridians by outlawing abortions after SIX weeks, which is before most women are even aware of their pregnancies. In addition to this already draconian bill, Florida Republicans are also suggesting imposing felony charges on doctors who perform abortions. This means doctors could be sentenced to five years in prison in addition to losing their medical licenses. Despite assurances that this legislation would allow abortion care for medical emergencies and survivors of sexual assault, these exceptions could force pregnant Floridians to wait until their health condition worsens, even to the point where their life is clearly at risk or they have passed the six-week limit. Which, you guessed it, would leave them without support. {NAME}, this legislation spells dire consequences for the health of Floridians. What the Florida GOP doesn’t realize is that the majority of Floridians have been vocal in their support of safe and legal abortion access.
