If you’ve followed me for any period of time then you probably know I’m a big fan of Vikin

If you’ve followed me for any period of time then you probably know I’m a big fan of Viking culture and Norse Mythology. (I have Ayahuasca to thank for that.) The Vikings were a fascinating people. They discovered and conquered a shocking amount of the world for a tiny little group of people stuck on islands. So how were they able to discover the Americas (before Columbus) and take over parts of much larger countries? Well, it comes down to a few things. Number one is Curiosity. The Vikings were curious about what existed outside of their little island. They weren’t satisfied with the world they knew, they wanted to know what they didn’t know. Number two is DESIRE. The Vikings had a strong desire to gain easier access to food, wealth, and power. (Also quick note than I’m not saying Vikings were all incredible people…they did some shady stuff for sure.) Number three is the most important… And it all started with their ships. Vikings built the most advanced ships of their time. (I think this is true, but I’m not a history teacher so cut me some slack if I’m wrong.) The Viking Longship allowed them to travel farther than anyone could’ve imagined at the time…yet that didn’t matter either without number three… See, a ship is only valuable if you can get everyone on board to row in the same direction at the same time. That may sound simple and stupid but let me explain. At my company, Almost Passive Income, we do something called Traction. Also known as EoS or the Entrepreneur Operating System. In the Traction book is one of the best quotes I’ve ever read about business and success in general… "Are all your staff rowing in the same direction? Chances are they’re not. Some are rowing to the left, some are rowing to the right, and some probably aren’t rowing at all. If you could get all the people in an organization rowing in the same direction, you could dominate any industry, in any market, against any competition, at any time." The Vikings may have had the best ships, but if they rowed in the wrong direction they wouldn’t have gotten anywhere. And if they weren't rowing in unison, same result. The price was much higher for Vikings than it is for us in the entrepreneurial world. If they were off by just ONE degree, they would end up somewhere completely different than they wanted. And that one degree might mean their death. So how does that apply to you? Well, if you’re a solo entrepreneur (or just trying to make your first buck online) then you may not have a longship…you may have a kayak. And you better know where you’re going so you can actually get there. And you better STAY THE COURSE. The biggest mistake beginners make is changing course every couple of weeks. They get shiny object syndrome and get distracted. If you keep changing course, you’ll never get anywhere. You’ll just end up rowing in circles, exhausted from the effort, but with nothing to show for it. If you run a company, then you best get your entire team rowing as hard as possible towards your destination. But you first have to define your destination. You must clarify your vision and SHARE that vision with your team. I used to keep my vision a secret because I thought it would be cool to make it look like what I did was magic. Then when I read this quote a couple years ago, I realized how stupid I was. So pick your destination and don’t stop rowing till you get there. If you have a team, make sure they know WHERE they’re rowing to and WHY. Whether you have a team or not, pick a destination and don't stop rowing until you get there. That’s all for today. Hope that sparked some insight for you. Talk soon, Ian "lover of vikings" Stanley P.S.I'm going to Norway in September for an epic Viking adventure in a place called the Valley of the Gods. Yeah. I know that sounds a bit wild haha. I felt called to spend a month in Norway this summer...and then a few days later my buddy hit me up out of nowhere saying he's running Viking adventure trip in Norway in September. I signed up immediately without asking any questions haha. The guy who's running it is my buddy AJ Yager who's a top class entrepreneur and a close personal friend of mine. The trip is gonna be EPIC. And I don't say that lightly. We're gonna forge weapons, row Viking ships, and do tons of other stuff. The people attending are all world class entrepreneurs. It's not a cheap trip but I think it's gonna be one of the coolest things I've ever done. The event is 8 days long and only 25 people can attend. I don't get paid anything for telling you about it. I'm not an affiliate for the event. I'm just super excited about the trip and wanted to let my list know about it in case any of you are interested in attending. AJ hit me up today and said there are 4 spots left so I wanted to let my subscribers know. It's application only and AJ is interviewing each applicant himself. There's a strict "no weirdos" rule so don't apply if you're creepy haha. Just tell AJ I sent you on the application so you get some street cred from being on my list. You can check it out at the website below and apply there if you're interested. [ Click here to check out the Viking adventure]( It's expensive AF. Just know that. Norway is one of the most expensive countries in the world so there's no way to do a cheap trip there.  The event is about $10,000...not including travel. I know that's out of reach for most people but wanted to let you guys know in case it was a perfect fit for anyone on my list.
