Funny how things come full circle sometimes. One of my first forays into entrepreneurship was buying a four-unit building a couple of months after graduating college. I did this with a buddy. We paid $86K with 5% down. My contribution to the down payment was thanks to waiting tables (one of the few jobs I liked). --------------------------------------------------------------- Strevio 25% Discount Ends Tonight! My buddy and I shared one unit and rented out three. It was a good investment. The rents not only paid the mortgage but put a few bucks into our pocket every month. Being first-time homebuyers back then we drove our real estate agent insane looking at 25+ buildings. Neither of us were rolling in money so we wanted to ensure we bought the right place that wouldn't sink us. After that endless search, guess which one we bought? Yup, we bought the very first building we looked at. Funny how that happens. Probably not so funny for our realtor. He was a great sport about it though. That exact same thing has happened again on my biggest niche site. The very first topic to break out and haul in decent search traffic is the topic I've recently realized has excellent potential currently. I stumbled on that topic way back when by accident. I didn't use Ahrefs ([try Ahrefs webmaster tools for free](=)) back then like a fool. Just happened to get lucky finding that topic. I've mentioned before that my site truly took off in search when I started doing KW research with Ahrefs. Anyway, based on preliminary research, this topic that put my site on the map so to speak (more in my own mind than actually an internet player) may end up a 400+ article monster. It's amusing how I thought my initial 20 articles way back when covered the topic. I've learned so much since then. It's also odd I haven't revisited this topic since years ago. My plan is this: Update the old stuff. It needs updating. Amazingly, some of it still performs well after 7 years. Publish new stuff on the topic; lots and lots and lots of new stuff. I'm thinking even videos might be a viable option. My goal is topical authority. It's a somewhat overlooked topic by the big players. They do the obvious articles but leave all the more nuanced stuff alone. Mighty kind of them. I shouldn't sell myself out though. My site is DR 75 which is no slouch in the authority department. Stick around and you'll get better and better I've been doing this online publishing thing for years. Went full time in 2012. A decade plus. Yet, I continuously learn new tricks of the trade and improve my game. After 7 years running this site, I finally realize that the breakout topic is the topic with the greatest potential. Only took 7 years to figure it out. Go figure. Time to go fire up [Koala](=) to help with this endeavor. These articles will be a joint effort between Koala and me and probably another writer with expertise in the area. So, don't forget to take a walk down memory lane with your niche site to look for topics you've long forgotten that could be your latest and greatest opportunity. Jon Fatstacksblog.com P.S.
