I received an absolute ton of replies to my last email. Too many to reply to each individually so I'll address the questions here. Do you wanna know why I received so many replies? I'll tell you anyway. I asked a question at the end of the email. I didn't think anything of it until the replies poured in... way more than normal. There's a good lesson in that for all you email marketers. If you want to hear from readers, end with a question. The opposite is true. If the thought of answering more email gives you the sweats, don't ask a question. That includes rhetorical questions. Now onto answering all your questions. Yup, I went through every email. Many asked the same questions. Here they are along with my answers. Are you going to share any specifics about your local biz and niche site? Probably. I didn't expect so much interest in this hybrid local/niche business approach so hadn't given much thought to how much to discuss it. I've now thought about it and will likely share a ton of the details in my course (as a new module. That will accompany quite a few new updates (coming very soon). I will say this and that is now that I have social media accounts set up, the cross-promotion with niche site and local site is really good. I didn't expect so much interest from Fat Stacks readers about the local biz thing. Can you write more about your Facebook process and traffic? Already have. It's the Facebook course module. I've been doing this with okay results for some time. An even better resource is the extremely popular Fat Stacks forum thread titled "My Facebook Traffic Strategy - 3 Million Pageviews Per Month". That one thread is worth the price of the course. It's authored by a person who crushes it with Facebook. What marketing strategies are you using for your local biz? The usual suspects: - SEO'ing the heck out of the website (ongoing). I have 50 pages planned. I'm sure it'll grow from there. I'm gunning hard to clean up with local SEO. The Google My Business page is already set up as well and that too will be a big part of the SEO play. - Social media - especially Facebook (including FB ads). - Google Ads - two campaigns are underway. This is all new to me. Lots to learn. - Facebook ads (haven't launched yet). I know FB ads so this should be pretty easy. The issue is whether they'll convert. - Local print publication ads. My first full page print ad comes out in April. There are long lead times for these which is never good for an impatient guy like me. Still, I'm giving it a whirl. - Mail-outs (to be done) - I have a buddy who owns a local plumbing company and he tells me local mail outs work great. I'm sold. That's about it for the foreseeable future. My hunch is that in the long run SEO and online paid ads will work the best. Facebook security questions and suggestions A handful of people inquired about any details I could share about the FB hack and another handful were kind enough to offer suggestions for securing FB better. I find the entire FB ecosystem an absolute maze of confusion especially the business manage portal so I don't have any insights about what happened and what I can do to prevent it. As for what FB needed from me to restore my page, they asked for photo ID and my company incorporation documents. It wasn't too onerous and I have to hand it to FB because they restored my page to me inside 24 hours. Will you sell your main niche site now? I have no plans to sell but the fact of the matter is every site I own is for sale if the right offer comes along. If someone offered me a certain amount of money, I'd sell. Since that's unlikely to happen, I plan to use my main niche site to help my local biz and vice versa. ChatGPT - Are you using it for niche sites? Not really. I play around with it most days but am not using it all that much it for content. It doesn't really work well for the lion's share of content I'm publishing. I've used it for pins. That's pretty slick. I suspect eventually I'll use it for niche sites. I'll probably use it for my local site. There are a lot of boring pages to publish for a local site. AI content eases that pain. I'll edit it by injecting my usual wit and irreverent banter throughout. On a slightly different note, I am using ChatGPT in an unusual way for niche sites. This has been interesting. More on that next week. Are you using Pinterest again? I am with good results. Pinterest traffic has doubled recently. Not sure it'll go much higher but the optimist in me believes it will. I continue to follow the same steps set out in the Pinterest course module. Will you update income reports? Yeah, I will. Many days I wake up intending to get them posted. Before I know it, I'm distracted with something else that consumes my day. It'll be no surprise that revenue dropped. I typically publish these in batches. They're overdue. Are your ad rpms low? Yes, dreadfully low but ever so slowly climbing. At least they're climbing. One thing about earning a living from the bottom of the advertising food chain and that is we quickly notice and feel changes in the economy. No sooner is recession bandied about and advertising dollars disappear. That about covers it. Thanks for all the questions, suggestions and comments. If anything, it lets me know I'm not writing into thin air. I do read every reply to these emails. Normally I respond to each but there were a ton so I opted for this format instead.
