Not long ago I tweeted the following: ¢Â€Â‹ I've long been all about the broad and big niche sites. --------------------------------------------------------------- -Paid Ad- [Motion Invest]( is the largest buyer and seller of smaller ($1-$100k) money-making content websites in the world. For the month of October, there has never been a better time to sell a site with Motion Invest. Why? Because they've just reduced their commission rates by 25%. That means you can get even more for your site! With an average selling multiple of over 35x and average 12 days to sell, they can quickly and easily get you the best price for your site. Submit your site to our Due Diligence today to get a quick valuation on your site! -End Paid Ad- --------------------------------------------------------------- What's with the change-up? It's part of my diversification strategy. That's it. I have to tell ya that coming into the current Google updates over the last couple of months I felt more secure having several sites earning well. My non-primary sites earn nearly $20K/month. Still a fraction of overall but still a good insurance policy. When Google updates can wipe out 50% or more of a site's traffic, having additional sites that earn well is peace-of-mind. I say that knowing and believing that the highest earning publishers with Mediavine focus on one site. If all sites get wiped out, that's some bad luck. Hence growing a variety of sites. Some big. Some small. At the end of the day my bread and butter is a big, broad site. It performs well. It still has growth potential. I continue to work on it. In the meantime I welcome having a stable of more niched down sites that don't require so much ongoing reinvestment. Set it and forget it sites. They're not micro-niche sites like 10 years ago 10+ years ago there was the micro-niche site strategy which involved cranking out 10 page sites like clockwork built on keyword domains. Throw a pile of links at 'em and earn a few bucks from each every month. Some folks built thousands of them. That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about a contained topic with a finite number of articles to comprehensively cover the topic (niche). I'm talking 100 articles at a minimum. Not talking tiny sites. Mine turned into a 165 article site. I'm sure I'll find another 10 to 50 articles to add over the next year. Keyword research is not about looking for the best opportunities but instead looking to cover every topic possible. It's akin to publishing a book on the topic. Books are finite. So too are these niche sites. Before you go create these keep in mind I'm merely spitballin' here about what I've recently done. I don't have results. I don't expect results for a long, long time. It's a gut decision. This particular niche happened to check all the boxes for me. I'm confident I can do a good job. So I did it. I could come up with plenty of additional "set it and forget" niches. I enjoyed the experience. It was fun that end of day one I could say "I built out one entire site in a day". I no doubt will do more of these. If they succeed, I'll share more about it. If they fail, I'll say they failed. Success for these sites is different than bigger sites. I don't expect a 150 article site to earn $25K/month. That would be delusional unless it was an all-out affiliate site. I'm talking $1,000 to $3,000 per month. $5,000 per month would be very, very lucky. This is not a hail Mary site. It's a dribbler I'm plunking into my portfolio to hedge against larger sites. Does this mean I'm not building out my bigger sites? Not at all. I still work on my bigger sites. They have a future. This "set it and forget it" approach is just another way to diversify. Jon Fatstacksblog.com P.S. If you are a course member, I added a 9-video series showing you exactly how I built out this type of site in 5 hours. I don't reveal my niche but a similar niche. The entire process is the same. You can find it in the "Niche Site Reports, templates, tools and experiments" section.
