I'm not the smartest guy when it comes to this online stuff. Sometimes I'm obtuse. But I've had some insights over the years. Usually stemming from mistakes I've made. One insight is that I'm not a big fan of seasonal blogs. It's not that they're universally bad. They can be hugely successful. I know some folks who kill it with seasonal sites. I'm just saying they're not good for me. I'm not good at budgeting throughout the year. I wouldn't make it through the lean months. But sometimes seasonality happens despite my best efforts to avoid it. I launched a site a couple years ago. It never occurred to me it would be seasonal. There's plenty of content for all seasons. Yet earnings are waaaaay higher in Fall/Winter. Probably double. Here's the thing. I consider those much higher earnings in Fall/Winter as a windfall, not an oversight. It's thanks to a successful affiliate cluster that earnings take off during those months. While affiliate revenue is not my focus, I'm certainly not anti-affiliate. When opportunity strikes, I'm all over it, even if seasonal. I did focus on affiliate blogs my first several years in this business thanks to two influential people. Yes, there was a day when I did not have display ads on my sites. The first is Tim Ferriss and his book The 4-Hour Workweek. That book opened my eyes to the possibility of online businesses. After reading Tim's book, I still didn't know what type of business I wanted to build online. I already had a successful blog for my law practice that dominated search back then hauling in clients. I was sold on the potential of online. As for purely online, I floundered. One day I read that the Warrior Forum was a good forum to learn about internet marketing. I joined. Back then it was THE hub for all things internet marketing including content sites. My mention of Warrior Forum dates me in this biz. Some of you were probably hanging around there years ago as well. One person on that forum in particular resonated with me. That was Chris Rempel, aka the Lazy Marketer. Back then he sold a white paper "course" called the Conduit Method (updated version [here]()). The only reason I bought it was because he walked the walk. He had many niche sites that were performing really well that formed the basis for his Conduit Method. I was sold on the concept. I got to work. It wasn't long after buying that PDF that I earned my first affiliate commission. It worked. I got to work. Commissions grew fast. In some ways, what I do now evolved from the Conduit Method, especially many of my affiliate efforts. More broadly speaking, it's the Conduit Method that introduced me to content sites. While affiliate promotions are secondary for me these days, I'm gunning hard to grow the affiliate revenue for the above-mentioned site. There's much potential. I'm publishing round two of content to further build the cluster for the coming Fall/Winter. My approach with this affiliate push is based on the Conduit Method v.2 including the following: - Money pages tied into large info-content clusters all interlinked. - My own photos of the products showcasing just how effective the products are. I include a few demo GIFs as well. - Tag the entire cluster so I can target my own banner ads across just that content. - Conversational-style content. It's so effective that I have visitors from this site contacting me asking all kinds of questions about the product line. Products are a bit technical and cost a lot so people take care before purchasing. All of the above is based on the Conduit Method. In particular version 2.0. For years I waited for Chris to launch an updated version. He finally did. It's available today. Like the first version, it's not that expensive (relative to other courses). => [Check out the Conduit Method v.2 here](). I've had working copies of the new version for quite some time. I asked Chris for a draft when I heard he was putting an updated version together. That's how impactful the original was to me. It's the one course I remember reading every word. I guess earning my first commission (my first dollar online) not long after the first iteration of the course burned that entire experience into my brain. Dovetails with display ads If you have no interest in incorporating affiliate promotions on your sites, Conduit Method v.2 is not for you. But if you do include affiliate promos and money pages, it's worth getting. Chris didn't coin himself the Lazy Marketer for nothing. He has a knack for focusing his affiliate efforts and all businesses on the key "levers" that get the greatest results. That's the key behind The Conduit Method. Who is Chris Rempel? IMO, he's one of the best writers in the space I've ever read. He's a thinker. He has a wicked sense of humor. He writes with style. He's meticulous. He's been involved with many successful ventures over the years starting with his own niche sites. If affiliate promo clusters are something you'd like to roll into your content site, [check out the Conduit Method v.2](). Jon Fatstacksblog.com P.S. Whether you get Conduit Method or not, I recommend getting on Chris' email list and read his personal ChrisRempel.com blog, if for no other reason to observe incredible writing in the space. He definitely influenced my writing. Beyond his writing prowess, he's a thinker and offers great insights about online business generally. Disclaimer: I'm an affiliate for the Conduit Method v.2. A happy one at that because I probably bought and have everything Chris Rempel ever sold. His materials have been instrumental in helping me grow an online publishing business that helps me earn a living. [Unsubscribe]( | [Update your profile]( | 2016 Hill Drive, North Vancouver, British Columbia V7H 2N5
