Comments thread: [(3D" Unsubscribe links are at the bottom of this message. =20 =20 ________________________ A message= from Drew Curtis: ________________________ Hey everyone hope your week's been well. Thanks to everyone who = participated in [last = week's TotalFark heads up thread](3D".=) - I loved seeing your enthusiasm and e= xcitement. This week it's a formal announcement: save the dat= e, there will be a 25th anniversary Fark Party in Lexington Ky on Oct 12th. Location is because it'll be easier for me to set up becaus= e I live here. Also, regardless of where we picked 95% of us would ha= ve to travel to get anywhere else we might have picked. Anyhow there'= s plenty of venue options and hotels in the area. (Also, there's plen= ty to do especially in October. Seems like every town in the area has= a fall festival, Keeneland Racetrack is running, and more. Details t= o follow over the course of the next few weeks.) One of the Fark25-= related questions I asked TotalFark last week was to help me come up with a= list of Farkers or Fark favorites we'd like to see in attendance. Fa= rk parties are all about who shows up, so help me figure out who absolutely= must be there. There will be more advanced notice on TotalFark as = time draws near, so [sig= n on up](3D"https://=) if you get a chance. I recently revamped the signup proce= ss slightly - on desktop there's a new Subscribe button on the upper right = nav bar, right below your username. Along with an Easter egg left ove= r from our April 1st event. (Little known fact: every TotalFark subscription comes with the ability to ask me to buy you a= beer if we're ever hanging out in person. If you can make it to = Fark25 in October, this might become extremely relevant to your beer intere= sts.) Dallan's back this week Thursday 4pm est on = [the Fark News Livestream!](3D") Work schedule cleare= d up enough to allow him some space. We'll also have me, Dill and Chr= istine! Lucky is still on hiatus for a bit but he'll rejoin us as soo= n as he can. This week appears to be upside-down week. Fool's G= old could be valuable, turns out you got herpes from a monkey bite in Flori= da, couples that drink together stay together, terminator robots, and who r= obs a store with a snake seriously? No venue yet, but as soon as we figure that out, we'l= l make the thread. = Fark Headlines of the Week A selection of some of the top h= eadlines from last week. Petroleum Blo= wnapart [Homeowner= is delighted upon arrival of naked man](3D"https://=) [OJ Sim= pson's family refuses to donate his brain to CTE research, saying he wouldn= 't have wanted to be all cut up like that](3D") [Man arrested for stealing $18,000 worth of tra= ding cards looking at 5 years, topps](3D") [Scrotal Eclipse of the Heart](3D") [Crash victim remembered as having made a lasting impact. It's a loose pilot](3D") [Is there a dysto= pian sci-fi book or film that starts with Unwanted Robot Collection Day, or= has Boston come up with an original plot?](3D") [Missouri mus= hroom hunter finds something slightly less disgusting](3D") Fark Weird News Quiz (brought t= o you by ox45tallboy) Another fun time on the Quiz last= week, where we learned models can't always help their reactions to weird t= hings fashion designers make them wear. On the Quiz itself, mrs. ba= dcrumble came out on top with a whopping 1056, followed by SoundOfOneHandWanking in second with 1033 and X= anadone in third with 994. Blackstone made f= ourth with 952, and WoolyManwich made it into the top= five with 942. The hardest question on last week's Hard Quiz = was about what George R. R, Martin decided to announce last week instead of= "The Winds of Winter". Only 26% of quiztakers knew that the "Song of Ice a= nd Fire" author thought a coloring book about "House of the Dragon", a= show he's not even writing, would tide fans over until he finally decided = to write the book he first announced in July of 2011. As a fan of David Ger= rold's "War Against the Chtorr" series, the last of which was released= in 1993, I can certainly sympathize. The easiest question on= last week's Hard Quiz was about the definition of "vicarious". 95% of quiz= takers knew that it meant an emotion felt by watching someone else doing or= accomplishing something. So when your SO asks why you're not helping with = the laundry, explain that you're living vicariously through them and sharin= g their satisfaction of a job well done. The hardest question on la= st week's Easy Quiz was about which country music star was arrested in Nash= ville last week after throwing a chair from a downtown rooftop bar, nearly = hitting two officers on the street below. Only 57% of quiztakers recognized= Morgan Wallen as the artist behind 2021's "Dangerous: the Double Album". L= et's hope he learns his lesson and checks for law enforcement personnel bel= ow the next time he decides to clear some furniture from a drinking establi= shment. The easiest question on last week's Easy Quiz was about whi= ch artist is getting a new Broadway musical about a romance set against his= biggest hits of the 80s. 93% of quiztakers knew that "The Heart of Rock an= d Roll" will be the second Broadway show featuring the music of Huey Lewis,= whose songs can also be heard in "Back to the Future: The Musical" just up= the street. If you missed out last week, now's a great time = to [catch up on the Fa= rk Weird News Quiz](3D") now that you know a few of the answers. Congratulati= ons once again to the winners, and we'll do it all again on Friday. --------------------------------------------------------------- ([Fark.com](3D"") sent this newsletter emai= l to: {EMAIL}) To stop these emails, go to the Notifications tab of your [MyFark profile](3D"https:=) to change your subscription preferences.
