[Alternate text]( FROM THE DESK OF CONRAD BLACK You may already know that I spent most of my career in publishing and helped build the third largest newspaper company in the western world. We published over 400 titles, including the London Daily Telegraph, Chicago Sun Times, Jerusalem Post, Spectator, and most of the leading newspapers in Canada and Australia. I am proud to have also been one of the founders of the modern New York Sun, and believe that now, more than ever, it is a paper that is uniquely suited for this moment of crisis in journalism. Too many journalists are not only failing to live up to public expectations but are actively abusing public trust. Instead of policing the powerful on behalf of the public, they police the public on behalf of the powers they favor. The New York Sun has never lost sight of who it serves. It’s a patriotic newspaper that places principle over politics and people over party. That is why I am happy to be a weekly contributor to it. It maintains the highest professional standards without being pedantic or boring. It's a community where I am proud to belong. The Sun is a lone voice among a sea of major publications owned by multi-billion-dollar corporations that generally try to stifle dissent. The only one way the Sun can win is if we all join in its effort. Collectively we cannot be overwhelmed by any media conglomerate or oppressive, woke, media groupthink. The Sun has long advocated on our behalf. Now, if we join the Sun’s movement to restore American journalism, we will be unstoppable. Membership starts at just 1¢ a day. I encourage you to sign up now. Every single person counts. [Join the Sun now →]( Please join us in the fight to restore America’s journalism. This is a newspaper that our country desperately needs. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
