Across the country, people are looking at New Jersey as an example on climate education – it’s one reason we’re consistently cited as having some of the best public schools in America. None of this should be political – it’s just teaching science. But the right wing school censorship crusaders want to strip it from our kids’ curriculum. [{NAME}, will you sign our petition to promote educational excellence in our best-in-the-nation public schools?]( On May 3 at the New Jersey State Board of Education, teacher Carolyn McGrath and other supporters of the new standards were outnumbered by right-wing extremists demanding the elimination of climate change in school curriculums. Members of Team “Protect Your Children” claimed climate education is a "weak science,” “very divisive,” and “scary for little children.” In pretty much every school I visited as a member of Congress, kids would pepper me with smart questions about how to fight climate change. Some of their homes had been damaged by Hurricane Ida. Others live on family farms threatened by extreme weather. They deserve a chance to study a problem that threatens their futures and to gain the science and tech skills needed to solve it. We shouldn’t tolerate outside groups (some of which are funded by the fossil fuel industry) coming to our state to dumb down these kids’ educations. Districts for Democracy is fighting to protect our kids from these culture wars, and we need you to fight with us.
