Friend, this month marks 22 years that Daily Kos has been bringing you the news you can do something

Friend, this month marks 22 years that Daily Kos has been bringing you the news you can do something about. We have seen tremendous growth over the past two decades, but we have never lost sight of our mission: Daily Kos exists to deliver progressive news and fight for democracy by giving our readers and activists the information and resources needed to make impactful change. [Daily Kos needs your support to survive. Please donate $5 today.]( [PLEASE DONATE]( There is one big bit of bad news here, though: our existence has never been more endangered than at this moment. No news organization, whether it is print, digital, public, award-winning, niche, or general interest, has been able to escape the financial hardships that have plagued the industry—this includes Daily Kos. For several years now we have seen our advertising and other revenue streams decline. Thankfully, Daily Kos relied on donations from our community to cover the lost revenue and power our work. Unfortunately, we are now starting to see our fundraising efforts slide. In March we missed our fundraising goal by $23,924. Turns out April was even worse. We missed that goal by $28,959. Unlike other news organizations Daily Kos hasn't turned to a billionaire backer and started using a paywall to help make ends meet. And there's good reason for that—we strongly believe everyone, no matter their ability to pay, should access to our news content and, maybe even more importantly, relying on our readers and activists to support our work makes us accountable to you, friend—not to some billionaire or corporation with their own agenda. We know that in order to keep operating—to survive—we have to fight and deliver for what you believe in. [Daily Kos is the country's largest progressive news and activism hub. With so much at stake for our country, It's not enough for us to survive, we need to thrive. Support our work with a donation of $5 right now.]( [PLEASE DONATE]( Thank you for all you do, Amanda McKay, Daily Kos If you wish to donate by mail instead, please send a check to Daily Kos, PO Box 70036, Oakland, CA, 94612.
