The other night my wife stressed me the hell out. She introduced me to a business coach & course creator I'd never seen before. I was scrolling through this coach's website being like, "Damn this is good. I should do something like this." So then I set off on a horrible journey trying to think about how I could create some crazy cool & unusual website. I stressed on how I could put together some unique webinars with fresh offers that'd sell the new generation of copywriters on working with me. I did these mental gymnastics for a few hours, went to bed, and found myself unable to sleep. Then... I stopped my brain. "You fool Derek. Eat your own cooking." I always tell CopyHour students to "Model-Then-Innovate." My task is not to come up with crazy new offers. My task is to model what's working (Not copy it! That's an important distinction) and try to make it better. Put my flavor on it. When I launched [Daily Email Income]( I built a similar offer as a lot of my competitors -- a course teaching you how to write email copy. But I put my spin on it. I added my flair and expertise. For [CopyHour Decoded,]( my OFFER was not revolutionary. A monthly subscription with me breaking down copy and answering questions live for members. What's "revolutionary" is the different twist of looking ONLY at ethical copy. What was stressing me out about this coach's website was trying to think how I could make super unique types of courses and offers. The more correct way to think of it is... "Model-Then-Innovate". With that, I fell asleep in minutes. I hope this is helpful to anyone who might be stressing out. - Derek +++++ 2 notes: 1.
