How To Start & Grow A Newsletter From Scratch ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ Woah... Yesterday I opened up the presale for the [Weekend Launch Party:]([How To Start & Grow A Newsletter From Scratch]( video course... And apparently ya'll have been waiting eagerly for this course to launch. There was a great response on day one. Which makes sense because EVERYONE should have a newsletter. Whether it's a personal brand or a business. Blah, blah, blah. Start a newsletter. Do you I need to sell you on why? I guess I should with some upcoming emails. But for now, I wanted to answer some previous questions I got about starting and growing newsletters (aka email lists). My responses will reveal more about what's inside the training course which will be filmed live next Thursday August 3rd (replay & transcripts available immediately after). Here goes: "How do you start an email list when you are not Derek Johanson or Ian Stanley or Amy Porterfield?" The simple answer is you pick the right overall market & topic so that in the beginning it's much more about them than it is about your brand. This is the Reverse Market Research I've been talking about. It's not about YOU and what YOU'LL sell. It's about connecting with what people actually want. They won't want to buy YOU (like they want to buy Derek's products) right in the beginning. And that's fine. We'll work towards that in the growth portion of the course. "How to START-- what do you put in the first email? Do you just pretend you have an audience and start writing or what? Those first steps are just not explained well in most courses." Yes, you do pretend that you have an audience and you start writing. A couple things: I'm going to recommend you only send 1 email per week (on a specific day) to start. And then as far as what to put into the first email, I'll show you exactly what to do and what kind of framework/template to use. The really cool part about the process I'll show you is that... even if you're writing to NO ONE on your email list, you can still take the content and publish it on an integrated blog that will pick up SEO traffic... and you can deconstruct it into social media content. Nothing is lost when you write to ZERO subscribers. We're focusing on the process of launching fast vs the results (which you cannot control). "What do I put in a newsletter? I've heard I should write a newsletter targeted toward the type of clients I want. I think that's a great idea, but as a brand new copywriter, I don't really know that audience well enough to know what they would want to read. How would I create a newsletter that would be relevant for them?" First, I've got a dead simple process for ideation that will show you exactly what content to create for your first newsletter. You might laugh when you see how easy it is. Second, we're using the Reverse Market Research process to find the newsletter topic... and I'll show you the 30-Second Survey method to understand more clearly what people want you to write or create (and how to monetize). "How do I know if I really need to email daily? If not daily, how do I figure out how often I should email? How do I avoid burnout? How do I stay committed to emailing regularly when I often get bored?" Short answer: all of us will be starting with 1 newsletter per week. If/when you hit on something, you can determine if 5-7 emails per week is a good idea (it most often is). But let's keep it easy to start. "Best tips for growing the list?" "What list-building method have you found to be the best in attracting the most qualified leads? Is there a common method that's applicable across different markets?" There are a million different ways to grow a newsletter. Ask ChatGPT and marvel at all the methods it spouts back at you. I'm going to show you ONE method (traffic source) to kick it all off. That method will focus mainly on trying to find people who buy stuff (even if they're only looking for free info from you). I'll show you what's what in the course. [Go here to join the Weekend Launch Party before the price goes up next week.](  - Weekend Launch Party: How To Start & Grow A Newsletter From Scratch will be a short (2.5hr max) video course showing you step-by-step how to launch a newsletter fast and then grow it steadily. video course showing you step-by-step how to launch a newsletter fast and then grow it steadily. - The longest segments will be over-the-shoulder videos of me writing content and sales materials for my example newsletter. The example newsletter I'll build will have NOTHING to do with copywriting or marketing. - The video course will be recorded live next Thursday, August 3rd on a private buyers-only Zoom call. (Replay available immediately after). Pricing: I'm seeing courses like this priced at over $1000. I'm not joking about that... and they're all generic ("here are 16 different ways to get subscribers") and they're not nearly as actionable as this course will be. But I'm not going to charge ya $1K bc that would kill the party vibes. The price of the Weekend Launch Party is going to be $197. But for those that buy during this presale period BEFORE August 3rd you'll pay just half of that - $99. Guarantee: If you don't think that the [Weekend Launch Party]( is the raddest party you've been apart of, I'll be shocked and bummed out. But I'll hand you your cash back, no questions, within 14 days (August 17th). You should have launched your first newsletter by then so you'll know if WLP is a vibe. That's the point. Questions? Fire em my way. Cheers! - Derek [Go here to join the Weekend Launch Party before the price goes up.]( Sent to: {EMAIL} [Unsubscribe]( CopyHour.com, 340 S LEMON AVE, 5007, WALNUT, CA 91789
