Skills for 2023 ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

Skills for 2023 ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ Hey {NAME} -- About 6 weeks back my wife noticed a dark spot on our wood floors in the kitchen. When we pulled the fridge out we found a leak and it wasn't pretty. Water had gone under the floor boards, through 2 walls, down a hallway and into our one year old's room. Not awesome. The drying and construction process started immediately (meaning we spent Thanksgiving in a hotel). They ripped out the kitchen and most of the floor boards in our house. The insurance company has been great -- shockingly -- and after the hotel they put us up in a sweet little Airbnb near the ocean. That's where we spent December up until the 23rd. Life wasn't too bad. But then the insurance bucks ran out, and our kitchen still wasn't complete (because we decided to renovate instead of rebuild the existing). Which means... we spent Christmas in another hotel. None of this is really a big deal in the grand scheme of life. But when you have 2 small children... including a one year old who needs to nap... and a five year old who needs to be run like a husky... hotel life ain't it, chief. On top of it all, our entire family has been sick two different times in the past month. Derek is complaining, for sure, but there's a point I'm working my way towards. I definitely regret not finding the leak sooner. I regret not renovating the kitchen last year before we moved in (although we were on a tight deadline with an incoming baby). I regret not getting all my holiday shopping done and wrapped earlier. I regret not getting better systems in place to manage a disruption in work like this. You might have noticed the sparse emailing on my part. Many regrets, I have, indeed. But most of them were out of my control -- besides the systems stuff which was totally in my control. Which is bordering on my point. There are many realistic opportunities I've had in life that I regret missing (like buying more Bitcoin at $30!). I've missed business opportunities and partnerships that I regret. But one thing I've never regretted, not even once, is learning to write copy. (I'm not really sure how my brain ended up at regrets and copy from a leak but here we are). Learning "copywriting" has had the biggest impact on my financial life by a mile. And naturally, I think it's one of the best skills to learn in 2023. Doesn't matter if you're a business owner or freelancer or wantrapreneuer or employee or work in tech, or if you're a big fluffy cat... The skill of copywriting will help you communicate, understand your customers, and get you the results that you want. On January 5th, Ian Stanley and I are going to host a webinar titled: "One Not-So-Weird Trick to Become a World Class Copywriter". You probably already know what the trick is. We're just going to break down what we think is the fastest way to become good at copywriting. The step-by-step system to learn the skill. Sound good? It's next week, January 5th 2023. You can register here: Happy Holidays! - Derek P.S. Yes, there are other skills I think you should learn in 2023 too. You might have noticed AI. You've seen what's happening with AI, right? At the moment, AI is only as powerful as the "inputs" you feed it. Learning copywriting can help with those inputs. Register for the copywriting webinar here: P.P.S. Want to talk to me sooner? Get a plan in place for the New Year? Check out my Maybe Call Me link: I'll be raising this up in 2023, but it's just $5/min to chat via the phone and get your personal questions answered. Flesch reading score

Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
