Monday was the re-launch of CopyHour -- our last of 2021. And⦠if you remember I was having some issues with my HOA (they donât want my 3.5 year old riding his bike). Well serendipitously, our real estate agent reached out to us last Friday with an off-market house not far away. We submitted a contingent offer thinking there was no real chance⦠but on Monday we were shocked to see it accepted! So we prepped our place to sell super fast (3 days) and we're likely accepting an offer this morning. That's now 2 houses Iâve been able to purchase off-market in the last 2 months (if youâre not aware, the housing market is bonkers right now). I was telling my friend what happened because heâs also looking for a house â and he said, "Omg you guys get so lucky. You're getting all these deals." I agreed at first and then stopped. Am I really getting lucky? (Actually, our agent is the REAL winner in all of this, haha). I thought about my friend. They're looking but theyâre not aggressively going after it. For example, they don't have an agent yet. Theyâre kinda just tip-toeing around. HOPING to find a deal. Whereas, we were aggressive and our agent is super aggressive. The deal fell in his lap and we were crazy enough, and ready enough, to pursue it. I think Thomas Jefferson has been cancelled but he has a great quote: "Iâm a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it." +++++ "Head down luck" I don't know if Iâm alone in this feeling but I sometimes have this strange financial experience... If I put my head down, work and hustle⦠go to bed tired but motivated⦠if Iâm not thinking about money but just trying to make good products & help people... If I do this for long enough, eventually I need I break⦠And when I come up for air I find that Iâve made a bunch of money. But if I sit around, checking accounts, Coinbase, etc⦠Nothing seems to happen. Small shifts down in the market weigh heavy on me. The luck runs dry. Have you ever experienced something similar? +++++ Work on the right things. Now, I think an important thing to explore here is "working on the right things." If you work hard on the wrong things, itâs all for nothing. There's no luck to be had. With the RE example: if I didnât live in one of the hottest markets in America, I donât think I'd be pursuing buying a house. The FEES are outrageous. The stress and the commitment aren't what Iâm looking for. No vale la peña. This is why Ramit Sethi is so adamant that buying a house isn't a good idea for most people. But, here in SoCal house prices are ridiculous & keep going up. Selling our place 2 months after purchase is going to make me some solid cash (even after fees). Vale la peña. It's the right place to make this decision. Itâs the right thing to work on so-to-speak. So, what Iâm really getting at: copywriting and CopyHour are in my humble opinion (and the opinion of thousands of others) good things to work hard on. They are the things that when you put your head down and work... you'll wake up 2-3 months later in a better head space and financial space. The way you should NOT approach copywriting & CopyHour is with constant doubt that leaves you unable to take any action at all. Youâll NEVER experience that feeling of luck if you don't commit and put your head down. +++++ With that concept in mind: CopyHour certified coaching is back for Fall 2021.
